⚫Do not look at the laser ’s direct ray, reflected ray from a mirror, or indirect ray without the
proper protective eyewear.
⚫Use the Correct Power Supply and AC Adapter
⚫When not in use for a long time, please take out the battery from the instrument to avo id the
damage caused by battery leakage
⚫Do not use the instrument in one hour after moving the device from the cold area to the hot
area, to avoid condensation phenomenon.
⚫Please disconnect the DC adapter/charger and cover the protective dust cap once you finish
using.
⚫Please clean the optical connectors when they get dirty through use. Optical cleaning pads
and anhydrous alcohol is recommended.
⚫If the instrument goes wrong, please give it to the nearest agent for repair. If the custom er
repairs without permission, the warranty service will be invalid.

Power On/Off
Long press to turn on the instrument, long press it again to turn off.
PON OPM - Measurement &. P/F Judgement
After power on, the LP-3P will enter PON power meter mode to measure upstream data signal 1310nm,
downstream data signal 1490nm and downstream video signal 1550nm at the same time.
Press the key, by comparing the measured value with the threshold value (preset in System
Setting 2/3), an icon will be displayed next to the test data to indicate each measured value is qualified
or not. Also, the group number of the preset threshold value will display in the upper right corner of the
screen.
The meaning of each icon is as follows:

PON OPM - Measuring Unit Switching
Press to switch the measuring unit. The currently used unit will be saved when power off. The
measuring unit will turn to dB in REF mode.
PON OPM - Reference Value Set/Review
Long press key for 2 seconds to set the current power value as new reference value, and
then the measuring unit turns to dB. The reference value can be reviewed by pressing key.
Press to quit REF mode.

PON OPM - Data Storage
Long press to save the currently measured optical power value (the number of stored
records will flash 2 second in the screen).
Short press to review the stored records. Press or to review previous
or next record.
Press again to quit.

If the instrument comes with VFL module, press key to enter VFL mode, and press
to activate the VFL.

System Settings
Press to enter System settings, there are 3 pages, press key to cycle through
the three menu pages.
Press or key to choose item, press , then the editable figure turns to
red, press or key to edit. To confirm / save the edit, press and then the
figure turns to white.
In the 1/3 page, there are 3 settings could be edited: tone, auto-off and sleeping mode.
In the 2/3 page, user can set up to 10 groups of threshold values for quick judgement of
the measured value.
The 3/3 page is for PON offset setting. After the instrument is used for a period of time,
there will be measurement deviation due to various reasons. This deviation can be eliminated by
calibration. Because this operation must be carried out by authorized professionals, so, an authorization
password is required to access to this menu. Please contact your local distributor to get the password.

Battery Charging
The instrument can be powered by rechargeable batteries. The battery indicator on the screen
will flash when charging and will stop flashing when the batteries are fully charged.
Caution:
1. The rechargeable batteries must be put in the battery compartment when use the AC/DC
adaptor for charging.
2. Do not charge the non-rechargeable batteries, or, the instrument would be damaged, and
the warranty service will be invalid.
