OPERATING MANUAL
Preface This operating manual shall facilitate to become acquainted with the machine and to use
its intended application possibilities.
The operating manual contains important notes for operating the machine safely, properly
and economically. Its observance helps to avoid dangers, repair costs and down-times and
to increase the reliability as well as the life span of the machine.
The operating manual is to be supplemented by instructions due to existing national
regulations for accident prevention and environmental protection.
The operating manual must be constantly available at the usage location of the machine.
The operating manual must be read and applied by every person who is commissioned
with work on the machine e.g.:
operation, including preparation, fault elimination in the work routine, removal of
production waste, care, disposal of operating and auxiliary materials
Maintenance (maintenance, inspection, repair) and/or
transport

In addition of the operating manual and the obligatory regulations for accident prevention
valid in the user country as well as at the usage location, the recognised technical rules for
safety and technical work must also be observed.

1. FEARURES & BENEFITS
VACUUM DRY dry extraction removes the sawdust and the sawing particles quickly and easily from the
joint already during the sawing works. The saw blade must thus not machine any additional material.
The machine works more effectively thereby. The extraction has additionally a positive effect and cools
the saw blade additionally.
•The Quick and simple attachment to the joint cutter UNICUT 500: Closed system, which is attached directly
to the joint cutter and is driven via a hydraulic interface at the machine
•Can be converted or upgraded quickly and easily with corresponding accessories such as a special saw blade
protection hood and a flange cooling for dry cut
•Simple emptying of the sawdust and particles by swinging out as well as the exchange of the filter bags
•The extraction cleans the filters automatically during extraction
•The clean, dry joint can be processed immediately (grouting)

1.1. Guideline intended use
1.1.1 The manufacturer and suppliers does not assume liability with wrong or non-
intended use. Any change of the machine, which is not carried out by the manufacturer
is prohibited. Changes by attachments or conversions of the dust extractions
may only be implemented with written permission of the manufacturer
1.1.2 The machine is built according to the state of the art and the recognised safety-relevant rules.
Nevertheless, dangers for life and limb of the user or third parties or impairments of the machine
and other real values can result
1.1.3 The machine may only be used in a technically perfect condition as well intended, in a safety-and
danger-aware manner while observing the operating manual. In particular, immediately remove
faults which can impair safety, or have them removed
1.1.4 The LISSMAC dry extraction VACUUM DRY 500 exclusively serves for the dry extraction of cutting
dust of concrete and asphalt. The dry extraction may/can only be used in connection with a
LISSMAC joint cutter UNICUT 500 or UNICUT 800. The suction hose is connected directly at the
blade guard of the LISSMAC joint cutter and sucks away the dry cutting dust during cutting. Another
use, or which is going beyond this, is considered as not intended.
The observance of the operating manual and the adherence to the inspection and maintenance
manual is also part of the intended use
1.1.5 Foreseeable misapplications / non-intended use:
Sucking up liquids, wood or large stones
Structural changes, which change the safety or the type of the execution
1.2. Organisational measures
1.2.1 The operating manual must be kept at hand for every person at the place of work of the machine.
1.2.2 Additions to the operating manual are generally accepted legal and other obligatory regulations for
accident prevention and for environmental protection, which must be observed.
Such obligations can also relate to e. g. the handling of dangerous materials or wearing personal
protection equipment or traffic-legal regulations.
1.2.3 The personnel assigned with activities at the machine must have read and understand the operating
manual before starting work, and here particularly the chapter safety notes. It is too late during the
work input. This applies in particular to personnel becoming active at the machine only occasionally,
e.g. when setting up, maintenance.
1.2.4 Check the safety- and danger-aware work of the personnel at least occasionally while observing the
operating manual!
1.2.5 Use personal protection equipment if necessary or if demanded by regulations!
1.2.6 Observe all safety and danger notes and keep them in readable condition! Replace damaged safety
and danger notes or those which can no longer be read.
1.2.7 With safety-relevant changes of the machine or its operational behaviour, shut the machine down
immediately and mark it accordingly. Report the fault to the responsible body/person!
1.2.8 Do not make any changes, by attachment or conversions without written permission of the
manufacturer! The instructions of the tool manufacturer must be considered.
1.2.9 Use only checked original spare parts of the manufacturer.

1.2.10 Adhere to prescribed periods for inspection or those specified in the operating manual.
1.2.11 For the implementation of maintenance measures, a workshop equipment appropriate for the work
is absolutely necessary.
1.3. Choice of personnel and - qualification; fundamental obligations
1.3.1 Only qualified personnel who have reached the age of 18 may be employed with independent
operation. All persons must be instructed in the operation and be expressly assigned with the
operation by the employer.
1.3.2 Specify the responsibilities of the personnel for operating, setting up, maintaining and repairing.
1.3.3 Ensure that that only assigned personnel will become active at the machine.
1.3.4 The operator must wear personal safety equipment such as safety shoes, safety gloves and
goggles, which correspond to the safety regulations.
1.3.5 The unnecessary stay in the work area is prohibited! Expel persons not working with the machine
from the work area. Lock the work area if necessary.
1.3.6 The operator must ensure with all movements that he does not endanger himself and other persons.
All obstructions which hinder the work procedure or the implementation of the machine must be
removed at the place of work.
1.3.8 Work on the electrical equipment on the machine may only be carried out by a qualified electrician
or by trained personnel under the management and supervision of a qualified electrician.
1.3.9 Establish the responsibility of the machine operator, also in respect to traffic regulations, and
enable him to refuse to follow instructions by third parties that may compromise safety!
1.4. Safety notes regarding the operating phases
1.4.1. Transport, assembly and installation
1.4.1.1 Considering the maximum operating weight, lifting operations should be made exclusively by
crane.
1.4.1.2 Transport may only take place, if all parts at the machine are tightened and dropping of individual
parts is impossible.
1.4.1.2 The attachment of the dry extraction must be implemented by 2 persons.

1.4.2. Commissioning
1.4.2.1 The dry extraction can/may only be operated with a LISSMAC joint cutter UNICUT 500 or UNICUT
800, as the dry extraction is driven by hydraulics of the joint cutter.
1.4.3.2 Visual check of the dry extraction for damages and defects. Special control of the protection device
and the suction hoses.
1.4.3.3 The suction hose must be kept away from the exhaust of the joint cutter.
1.4.3.4 For the operation of the dry extraction, a special sawing hood for the dry extraction with
temperature-resistant exhaust hoses must be used.
1.4.3. Operation
1.4.4.1 Refrain from working in any manner that may compromise safety.
1.4.4.2 Take measures so that the dry extraction is only operated in a safe and functional state!
1.4.4.3 Check the dry extraction at least once per shift for outwardly recognisable damages and defects!
Notify the responsible place/person immediately when changes have occurred (including the
operational behaviour)! If necessary, shut the dry extraction down immediately and secure it
against restarting!
1.4.4.4 With malfunctions, shut the dry extraction down immediately and secure it! Have faults eliminated
immediately! Electrical installation works may only be accomplished by trained electrical
personnel.
1.4.4.5 Only use suitable and checked tools.
1.4.4.6 Regular control of the entire system.
1.4.4. Special work in the context of the use of the machine
1.4.5.1 Adhere to setting, maintenance and inspection activities specified in this operating manual
including data for the exchange of parts/partial equipment! These activities may only be
accomplished by authorised technical personnel.
1.4.5.2 Inform operating personnel before beginning of the execution of special and repair work!
Designate a supervisor!
1.4.5.3 The dry extraction must be switched off with maintenance and repair work and be separated from
the joint cutter.
1.4.5.4 Before cleaning, all openings must be covered and sealed, into which for safety and/or function
reasons no cleaning agent may penetrate. Electric motors, switches and plug connections are
particularly endangered. After cleaning, the covers/adhesions must be removed completely!

1.4.5.4 Always tighten loosened screw connections with maintenance and repair work!
1.4.5.5 If the disassembly of safety devices is necessary with the start-up, maintenance and repair, the
assembly and check of the safety devices must take place immediately after conclusion of
maintenance and repair work!
1.4.5.6 Ensure safe and environmentally friendly disposal of the operating and auxiliary materials as well
as the exchange parts!
1.4.5.
Note relating to special types of danger
If air from the suction blower contains dust, switch the VACUUM DRY 500 off immediately and
carry out a tightness check. Never drive if dust comes from the blower. The suction blower will
otherwise be worn out and it can lead to serious damage.
Always switch off the dust extraction when maneuvering the device, as damages can arise at the
suction blower through excessive movement.
The dry extraction contains rotating parts, therefore ensure during maintenance that the hydraulic
unit is switched off, the air pressure has been drained and the electric circuit is interrupted.
The components of the dry extraction are heavy, therefore use a lifting apparatus in order to avoid
accidents and damages.
1.4.6.
Electrical energy
Only use original fuses with the prescribed amperage! The machine must be switched off
immediately with faults! Electrical work may only be carried out by examined and qualified
technical personnel.
Only carry out maintenance or repair work if the motor of the dust extraction is switched off.
The electrical equipment of a machine must be inspected/checked at regular intervals. Defects,
such as loose connections or damaged cables must be eliminated immediately. The machine must
be marked so that the machine is not started by other persons.
1.4.7.
Dust
With work in confined spaces, observe existing national regulations.

1.5.
Packing and storage
In order to ensure sufficient protection during dispatch and transport, the machine and its
components were packed carefully. With receipt of the machine, the machine should be checked
for damages. The packing of the device consists of recyclable materials. Place these into collection
containers provided for this in a single-origin manner, so that they can be supplied to recycling.
In the case of a damage, the machine may not be operated. Damaged cables and plug connections
also represent a safety risk and may not be used. Inform the manufacturing company in this case.
If the machine is not operated immediately after unpacking, it must be protected against humidity
and dirt.
1.6.
Environmental protection
Packing material, cleaning agents, used or remaining operating materials as well as unpacked
wear parts, such as drive belts or motor oils must be supplied to recycling according to the
regulations valid at the place of work for environmental protection.
1.7.
Disposal
If the end of the life of the device has been reached, in particular if malfunctions arise,
decommission the machine.
Dispose of the device according to the environmental regulations valid in your country. Electrical
waste may not be disposed of together with household waste. Deliver the retired device to a
central collection point.

3.
COMMISSIONING
3.1. Connections and operating materials
Lubrication points
The movable parts must be lubricated at the lubrication points at regular intervals. The manufacturer
uses a checked heat-resistant multi-purpose grease with the designation Energrease LS2 BP.
Hydraulic connection
The dry extraction is driven by the joint cutter via the hydraulics and must be connected to the joint
cutter for the mobile operation.

3.2. Install the extraction at the joint cutter
Position the dry extraction behind the joint cutter. Both connection rails (pos. 2) must be at
the correct height!
Connect the joint cutter and the dry extraction via the connection rail (pos. 2) and secure it
with the locking pins (pos. 1) with the spring cotter
Mount the tensioning strap (pos. 4) for securing the joint cutter and dry extraction
Note
All lines must be checked for damages and tightness before commissioning.
Connect the plug connections (pos. 5) of the hydraulics with the joint cutter
Connect the control voltage (pos. 6) of the extraction at the plug socket of the joint cutter
Mount the suction hose to the suction container and mount the other end to the blade
guard (pos. 4)

Note
The dust catching bag may not be filled up to the stop and must be emptied at a filling level of max.
70%.
Switch off the joint cutter
Remove the clamp (pos. 2) from the dry extraction
Swing out the swivelling pan via the lever (pos. 3)
Remove the wire basket (pos. 1) from the dust catching bag
Close the dust catching bag with a cable strap and remove it from the swivelling pan
Dispose of the dust catching bag in accordance with regulations

4.
TRANSPORT
4.1. Prior to the transport
Note
In order that no deposits can settle in the system, always wait for the dry extraction unit to finish the
cleaning interval before switching it off.
4.2. Maneuvering the joint cutter
Caution!
In order to secure the dry extraction against tilting or falling, all of the three support legs must be
lowered evenly and be clamped firmly.
The dry extraction is connected to the joint cutter.
All support legs of the dry extraction must be in the uppermost position
4.3. Lifting by crane
Caution! In order to secure the dry extraction against tilting or falling, all of the three support legs must be
lowered evenly and be clamped firmly.
Suspend the dry extraction from the crane at the 2 ring bolts (pos. 1) on the upper cover with a chain
suitable for this.
Use only undamaged slinging means with sufficiently carrying capacity.
No persons may stay under suspended loads.
Determine a competent instructor before the lifting operation
Suspend the slinging means with sufficient carrying capacity in the ring bolts (pos. 1)
Raise carefully and the observe the centre of gravity
Always keep an eye on the dust extraction
Secure the load charge reliably (use provided attachment points)
Only proceed in accordance with the operating manual when recommissioning

5.
OPERATION
5.1. Start preparations
Danger!
All obstacles must be removed from the work area and sufficient lighting must be provided
In order to use the dry extraction in a safe and intended manner, the following conditions must be
fulfilled:
The dry extraction must be firmly connected to the joint cutter
The support legs of the dry extraction must be in the uppermost position
All hydraulic connections are tight and are connected to the joint cutter
The control line is connected to the joint cutter
The suction connection of the dry extraction is connected to the blade guard of the joint
cutter
Check the dry extraction for damages, loose screw connections and for the completeness of
the attachments parts
5.2. Filter operation
Caution!
Do no hold and articles or body parts into the suction flow of the dry extraction. The dry extraction
is exclusively suitable for the dry extraction of cutting dust in connection with air.
The dry extraction is operated via the joint cutter.
The compressor must always have sufficient hydraulic oil, as otherwise the speed is too low and
the compressor will be damaged due to lack of lubrication.
Always set the motor of the joint cutter to maximum speed, then connect the compressor.
Observe the operating manual of the joint cutter!
5.3. Cleaning Manual Automatic
The extraction comprises a preselection switch, with which the cleaning of the filters can be
changed from manual to automatic.
The manual cleaning of the filters can take place when necessary, but at the latest when the
suction power in the saw blade drops.
