Louroe AP-2TB User manual

The LOUROE AP-2TB is a two zone audio monitoring base station with a built-in microphone
and speaker. When connected with a remote Louroe Speaker/Microphone, it provides a
bi-directional (2-way) communication system. Audio can be monitored by pushing in the “Zone
Selector” switch. The unit contains an “Audio Out” and “Audio In” jack for connection to a
VCR/DVR for recording and playback. A 3.5mm headphone jack is provided for private
listening. The AP-2TB is compatible with Louroe Speaker/Microphone Models TLI series, TLM
series,TLO and TLSP.

DESCRIPTION OF PARTS
[1] Zone Selector Switch Push either zone 1 or zone 2 to activate system. Zone Indicator LED[9] will
illuminate. Press switch again to de-activate system. Zone Indicator will
turn off.
[2] DVR/VCR Playback Switch Press switch for audio playback from a recorder. The Playback LED[10] is
illuminated. During this time, live communication (listen mode) is turned off.
Pressing switch again cancels playback mode and Playback LED[10] turns
off.
[3] Talkback Switch Press to activate talkback and talk to remote speaker/microphone. Audio
from remote microphone is muted when this switch is pressed. Hold down
switch until talkback operation is completed.
[4] Monitor Volume DOWN Control Switch Press to decrease the level of audio from the Monitor Speaker[13].
Continue to press and release until desired level of volume is attained.
Pressing and holding down will not change volume.
[5] Monitor Volume UP Control Switch Press to increase the level of audio from the Monitor Speaker[13] Continue
to press and release until desired level of volume is attained. Pressing and
holding down will not change volume.
[6] Talkback Volume DOWN Control Switch Press to decrease the loudness of audio at the remote
speaker/microphone. Continue pressing switch until desired level of audio
is attained. Pressing and holding down will not change volume.
[7] Talkback Volume UP Control Switch Press to increase the loudness of audio at the remote speaker/microphone.
Continue pressing switch until desired level of volume is attained. Pressing
and holding down will not change volume.
[8] HeadphoneJack Used for private listening. Any 3.5mm stereo headphone with 8Wto 600W
impedance may be used. Mutes speaker output when in use.
[9] Zone Indicator LED Illuminates when a zone is activated. Audio from microphone is present at
the Monitor Speaker[13].
[10] Playback Indicator LED Illuminates when in playback mode. Remains lighted until the Playback
Switch[2] is pressed again.
[11] Talkback MIC Built-in microphone for talkback.
[12] Power Indicator LED Indicates power is present at the unit.
[13] Monitor Speaker Speaker output. Muted when a headphone is connected to the Headphone
Jack[8].
[14] MIC 6-Pin Terminal Block Connects to speaker/microphone at remote location.
[15] Audio-In Jack Receives audio from an external source (recorded playback from a VCR or
DVR).
[16] Audio-OUT Jack Provides audio to an external receiver (DVR, VCR, etc.)
[17] Power Switch Provides power to the unit.
[18] DC-IN Jack Accepts 24 Vdc from external power supply (AC Adapater included).

The AP-2TB has two 6-pin terminal blocks located on the back panel and marked A, B, C, SP, G and P. Connect
recommended cable as follows below: also refer to diagram on page 5, fig. 4

Most Louroe remote speaker/microphones contain a 5-pin terminal block marked A, B, C, SP and G
Bring other end of recommended cable to speaker/microphone and connect:
Red wire to terminal A of speaker/microphone
Black wire to terminal B of speaker/microphone
Bare wire to terminal C of speaker/microphone
Green wire to terminal SP of speaker/microphone
White wire to terminal G of speaker/microphone

NOTE: Speaker connections for Louroe Model TLM-WS, TLM-WF,
TLSP-WF and TLSP-WS are two wires (green and white)
attached to the 70V transformer. Connect these two wires
to the Green and White wire of recommended cable,
using wire nuts.
Connecting AP-2TB to a recording device (DVR, VCR, etc). AP-2TB contains two RCA jacks, Audio-Out [16] and Audio-In
[15]. Using an RCA cable (not supplied)
a. Connect Audio Out[16] of AP-2TB to Audio-In of recorder.
b. Connect Audio Out of recorder to Audio-In[15] of AP-2TB (for playback)
Should DVR contain a 3.5mm stereo audio input and output, use an RCA to 3.5mm stereo adapter for connection adapter
(not supplied)
NOTE: For connecting both zone 1 and zone 2 to a DVR with multiple audio inputs or
to two VCR’s, refer to instructions on page 6.

OPERATION AND TEST
1) First plug DC output of AC Adapter to DC-IN Jack [18], then plug AC Adapter to 120 Vac supply.
2) Turn power to the unit by pushing Power Switch[17] located at the back of the unit to ON position. The Power Indicator
LED[12] will light.
3) Push the Zone Selector Switch (zone 1 or 2) [1]. Zone Indicator LED[9] will light. Audio should be present at the Monitor
Speaker [13]. Adjust volume of audio by pressing the Monitor Volume UP Control Switch[5] to increase the level, or the
Monitor Volume DOWN Control Switch[4] to decrease the level. Press and release switch. Do not hold down as the
level will not change. The unit can monitor two zones at the same time. Press Zone Selector Switch[1] for zone 1. Zone
Indicator LED[9] for zone 1 is lighted and audio on zone 1 is activated. Press and hold for 3 seconds Zone Selector
Switch[1] for zone 2. The Zone Indicator LED[9] for zone 2 is will light. Audio from both zones can now be heard at the
Monitor Speaker[13]. Talkback is also activated for both zones. Pressing either of the two or both Zone Selector
Switch[1] will de-activate the zone.
4) Press and hold Talkback Switch [3] and speak into Talkback MIC[11]. Press Talkback Volume UP Control Switch[7] to
increase the level of talkback. Press Talkback Volume DOWN Control Switch[6] to decrease the level of talkback.
Another person is needed to listen to the volume and clarity of talkback at the remote location. Press and release switch.
Do not hold down as the level will not change.
5) When a recording device is connected to the unit, press record and record live audio into the DVR/VCR. Press
DVR/VCR Playback Switch [2] for playback. Playback Indicator LED[10] will illuminate. Playback audio will be
transmitted through the Monitor Speaker [13].
CONNECTING BOTH ZONE 1 AND ZONE 2 TO A RECORDING DEVICE (DVR, VCR, etc.)
Model AP-2TB is a two zone audio base station with one RCA type audio output. Space confinements prevent a second
RCA output. However, zone 2 of AP-2TB can be recorded by using the microphone terminal block on the rear panel. A
DVR with at least two audio inputs or two VCR’s are required.
A. CONNECTING ZONE 1 TO A RECORDING DEVICE
1) Refer to step 5 of operation and test above
B. CONNECTING ZONE 2 TO A RECORDING DEVICE
1) Using a standard RCA connector cable, cut the RCA plug off of one end and separate the two wires inside the jacket
cover. One wire has a vinyl jacket, the other is stranded copper.
2) Carefully strip ¼” of jacket and insert into terminal B of zone 2 terminal block and tighten
3) Insert stranded copper wire into terminal C and tighten
4) Take other end of RCA cable and connect to Audio-In of recording device.
5) For playback, connect Audio-Out of recording device to the Audio-In jack on back panel of AP-2TB.

LOUROE ELECTRONICS warrants that at the time of shipment products manufactured by LOUROE ELECTRONICS to be free of defects in material and workmanship.
Should a defect appear within one year (12 months) from date of shipment, LOUROE ELECTRONICS will, at its sole discretion, repair or replace the defective equipment.
This equipment shall not be accepted for repair or return without prior notification by LOUROE ELECTRONICS.
