is not set for that line. (This means the LineShare Pro 104 will only pro ess distin tive rings that have been
programmed and ignore all other ring styles.)
If a devi e onne ted to another port on the LineShare Pro 104 answers a all, the LineShare Pro 104 will dis-
able the Single Tone Dete tion feature (if the asso iated timer has not expired). Then only tone transfers are
allowed as follows.
port P1 # 1 1 tone
port P2 # 2 2 tone
port P3 # 3 3 tone
port P4 # 4 4 tone
Any time a all is transferred to another port, the port that is off-hook with the all is the only port that will
be allowed to transfer the all. The originating port will re eive a busy tone on e the transfer o urs.
NOTE: Extension phones not onne ted to the LineShare Pro 104 will only ring one time (Rings to An-
swer Call) on inbound alls and annot answer alls unless Extension Dete tion is turned ON.

Distinctive Ring – Semi-Automatic Mode
NOTE: The distin tive ring assignments, routing tones and a ess odes an be hanged through pro-
gramming.
If a devi e onne ted to any port answers a all, the LineShare Pro 104 listens for the following signals:
port P1 # 1 1 tone
port P2 # 2 2 tone 1100Hz CNG tone
port P3 # 3 3 tone
port P4 # 4 4 tone 1300Hz modem tone
If a devi e onne ted to any port answers a all, the Single Tone Dete tion is a tive for the duration of the
Single Tone Transfer Timer (fa tory setting is 10 se onds). After the timer expires only tone transfers are al-
lowed.
If the LineShare Pro 104 dete ts any of the above signals, it transfers the all to the appropriate port. Other-
wise, it remains on line until it re eives transfer odes, or the all dis onne ts.
Anytime a all is transferred to another port, the port that is off-hook with the all is the only port of the Line-
Share Pro 104 that will be allowed to transfer the all. The originating port will re eive a busy tone on e the
transfer o urs.

Special Operating Note
Before operating the LineShare Pro 104, be sure you understand the following information on erning the
telephone equipment that is used with the LineShare Pro 104. Fax
CNG tones: Most faxes send audible beep tones alled CNG (Call-
iNG) tones. This tone is a distin t beep that repeats every three (3)
se onds. On e a fax has dialed the destination fax number, it gen-
erates this tone while waiting for the re eiving fax to answer.
Most, but not all faxes produ e this through their auto-dial fea-
ture, speed-dial memory position, or by the operator pressing the
start button on the fax ma hine after the number is dialed. For
best results, allers should have your number programmed into
their fax ma hine "speed-dial" memory.
Receiving a Computer Call
To have the alling modem automati ally "over dial" an a ess ode for a port of the LineShare Pro 104, the
aller should take into onsideration whether the all is lo al or long distan e. For remote a ess to port P3
on the LineShare Pro 104, instru t the aller to use the following dialing string in the modem's software:
ATDT (phone number),#33,#33,#33,#33 (for Automati mode)
ATDT (phone number),,,#33,#33,#33,#33 (for Semi-Automati mode)
The alling modem pi ks up its phone line and dials the phone number. The omma (,) tells the modem to
wait about two (2) se onds and then repeatedly "over dial" the a ess ode.
NOTE: Not all modem omma (,) ommands delay dialing for a 2 se ond interval. Consult your modem
Operator's Guide and adjust the number of ommas you use a ordingly. In the Automati
mode, the LineShare Pro 104 will answer a all, dete t the tones and transfer the all to port P3.
In the Semi-Automati mode, you or your answering ma hine will answer the all, and then the LineShare
Pro 104 will dete t the tones and transfer the all to port P3. For long distan e remote a ess to port P3, in-
stru t the aller to use the following dialing string in the modem's software:
ATDT 1 (phone number),,,#33,#33,#33,#33 (for automati mode)
ATDT 1 (phone number),,,,,#33,#33,#33,#33 (for Semi-Automati mode)
NOTE: In the Semi-Automati mode, the ommas entered before the #33 are used to allow for the an-
swering ma hine's 2-ring answer. Use 3 additional ommas for ea h ring that your answering
ma hine is set to answer above 2 rings.
For alls requiring a ess to other ports, substitute the appropriate a ess odes:
port P1 # 1 1
port P2 # 2 2
port P4 # 4 4

Computer Calls Using Distinctive Ring Service rom the Telephone Company
As previously des ribed, the LineShare Pro 104 is apable of routing alls based upon the phone ompany's
Distin tive Ring servi e. Ea h telephone devi e is designated to a spe ifi port and ring signal on the Line-
Share Pro 104. Callers simply dial the spe ifi phone numbers assigned to the desired devi e and the Line-
Share Pro 104 transfers the all as des ribed in the se tion Distin tive Ring servi e.
Intercom
FIf the LineShare Pro 104 is installed with phones onne ted to all ports, this feature also allows an inter om
path between ports. To make an internal all to another port, perform the following pro edures:
1. Take a phone onne ted to the LineShare Pro 104 off-hook.
2. Press one of the following transfer odes from a tone phone:
* * 1 1 for port P1
* * 2 2 for port P2
* * 3 3 for port P3
* * 4 4 for port P4
3. Pla e the phone re eiver on-hook when finished.

Answering Incoming Calls
In oming alls an be answered from an extension phone (if Extension Dete tion is turned
ON) or from a phone devi e onne ted to the Primary port. After the all is answered,
ondu t the all normally, for as long as desired.
1. If, after answering a all, you hear silen e on the line, the all ould be oming from a fax that does
not produ e a CNG tone. Simply transfer the all to the port that the fax is onne ted to by press-
ing one of the following:
port P1 # 1 1
port P2 # 2 2
port P3 # 3 3
port P4 # 4 4
2. In the Semi-Automati mode, if you hear a single frequen y tone or an a ess ode for another port
after answering a all, hang up the phone. The all will be transferred automati ally.

Answering Incoming Calls with an Answering Machine
If an answering ma hine answers a all from the Primary port, the aller an perform the following:
• Re ord a voi e message on the answering ma hine and/or
• Transfer their all to another port
Following is a sample announ ement that you may wish to use:
" * Hello, this is ________. I you wish to send a ax, press # 2 2 or leave a message a ter the tone."
NOTE: Use the appropriate a ess ode if the fax is not onne ted to port P2.
If the LineShare Pro 104 is in the Semi-Automati mode, you should re ord 4 se onds of silen e before
re ording your outgoing message to allow time for dete tion of the CNG tone.
NOTE: Fax alls that do not produ e a CNG tone will transfer to the answering ma hine. To allow the
LineShare Pro 104 to transfer these alls to the Se ondary port, see "Programmable features of
the LineShare Pro 104" to turn on the Automati Primary Port Transfer feature ON.
With the Automati Primary Port Transfer turned ON, the LineShare Pro 104 will monitor the line for 30 se -
onds after the answering ma hine answers a all. If the answering ma hine (or telephone) dis onne ts from
the all during this time, the LineShare Pro 104 automati ally transfers the all to the Se ondary port. To a -
ommodate these timing parameters, the outgoing message should be between 15 and 20 se onds in length.
(Single assette style answering ma hines are not re ommended for use with this feature due to timing lim-
itations of these types of ma hines.)
Retrieving Answering Machine Messages rom a Remote Location
To retrieve answering ma hine messages, follow these steps:
1. Dial your phone number and wait for the answering ma hine to answer the all.
2. After the answering ma hine answers the all, press * from a tone phone. (This disables the Line-
Share Pro 104 from inadvertently transferring a all.)
3. Follow the remote retrieval pro edures for your answering ma hine.
4. After retrieving your messages, hang up. The LineShare Pro 104 resets for the next all.
Placing an Outbound Call
Outbound alls an be pla ed from any port. If another port is in use, the LineShare Pro 104 will produ e a
busy signal when attempting to pla e a all from a different port. During an outbound all, you an also re-
eive a fax transmission from someone that is ready to transmit. To transfer this all to a port any time dur-
ing a onversation, press the following from a tone phone:
port P1 # 1 1
port P2 # 2 2
port P3 # 3 3
port P4 # 4 4
(Pi king up an extension phone not onne ted to a port during a data or fax transmission may interrupt the

all.) On e the all is transferred, the phone originating the transfer re eives a busy signal. Simply hang up
the phone until the transmission ompletes.
Emergency Call Override
This feature allows the Primary port to interrupt a all that is in pro ess on another port. Emergen y Call
Override operates in onjun tion with 3-way alling servi e from the phone ompany. Operation of this fea-
ture is provided through the Primary port and an be set up for Automati or Manual operation as explained
below:
Automatic Operation (with 3-way alling)
When a all is in pro ess on a port and a telephone onne ted to the Primary port
goes off-hook, the LineShare Pro 104 will dis onne t the a tive port from the phone
line, transmit a tone for 3 se onds, and then hook-flash to obtain dial tone from the
phone ompany.
Manual Operation (with 3-way alling)
When a all is in pro ess on a port and a telephone onne ted to the Primary port goes off-hook, the
# key must be pressed and released to a tivate the Emergen y Call Override. Upon dete tion of the
# key, the LineShare Pro 104 will dis onne t the a tive port from the phone line, transmit a tone for
3 se onds, and then hook-flash to obtain dial tone from the phone ompany.
