PART 2
Chapter 1 LGRF-H Reader Introduction
1.1 Product Overview
LGRF-H Reader is able to recognize various kinds of tags by adapting the international
standard (ISO15693) which fits in the area of logistics, inventory, personnel management and
Factory Automation (FA). The size was minimized to enable the application in various areas and
the user can select the product with either the embedded antenna or external antenna
according to the purpose. This product provides Multi-Drop function that enables to control 16
RFID Readers only by one communication port from the Host (PLC, PC etc.) and is designed
according to the standard of industrial product.
1.2 RFID Introduction
RF-ID stands for Radio Frequency Identification and means non-contact recognizing
device by using a radio frequency. For example, this device was used to recognize the
objects, persons, and animals. The information of recognized target is recorded in the Tag
and the recorded information in the tag is obtained by the Reader.
The figure below shows the method of recognizing the goods by using the general RFID
system.
•Example of recognizing the goods by RF-ID system

1.3 Operation Principle of RFID System
The operation principle of RFID Reader is that if the radio wave is sent through the
antenna of Reader as shown on [Figure 1.3.1], the tag becomes activated by getting the
energy from the receiving radio wave. The activated tag sends its own information to the
Reader over the radio and the Reader receives this information of tag.
Attach the tag to the object for recognition.
As the tag attached object approaches, the Reader recognizes.

The host computer verifies the recognition. ¾Product name : GPAM2000

[Fig. 1.3.1] Operation Principle of RFID System
The operation principle of LGRF-H 13.56MHz Reader on [Fig. 1.3.1] is as follows :
①Send 13.56 MHz frequency signal through the antenna of Reader.
②The Tag located in the read range of the antenna activates IC chip by the rule of
electromagnetic induction.
③ Data information of Tag is resent to the antenna of Reader in the form of reflection
wave.
④ The information obtained through the antenna is sent to the Reader to get the tag
information.
