Caring for your instrument
• Each time you nish playing, remove all moisture and particles from the bore
of each joint using a swab or cleaning rod. Use a polishing cloth to wipe o
perspiration and ngerprints. Do not use chemical or solvent agents to clean
the nish of your instrument.
• Saxophone players should use cork grease on all cork joints to preserve the
resilience of the cork. This will make assembling the instrument easier and
retain a good cork t.
• Use a cleaning brush to remove dirt or lint that gathers around springs and
under the keys. Use caution in cleaning under the key mechanisms to avoid
unhooking the needle springs or damaging bumper corks.
• Always remove the mouthpiece when not in use. Clean your saxophone
mouthpiece at least once a week, brushing out the inside with a mouthpiece
brush and warm soapy water. Rinse with cold water and dry.
