Introduction
This guide is intended to help get you started quickly. In order to achieve optimal usage of
your new soundcard, we recommend that you carefully study the full manual on the
enclosed CD-ROM, before or after completing the process described in this guide.
Windows Installation
Note: You must have Direct X 9.0b installed in your system before installing the
Revolution 5.1 software. For your convenience, Direct X 9.0b is included on the
enclosed CD-ROM.
Running the Installer
Start your computer. Insert the M-AUDIO DRIVERS CD-ROM and wait a moment until it
displays the InstallShield Wizard. Follow the instructions to install the driver properly.
Installing the Card
Shut your computer down, unplug it from its power source, and insert the Revolution 5.1
PCI card into an available PCI slot. For specific instructions on how to do this, please refer
to the Revolution 5.1 Manual’s “Hardware Setup” section. Restart the computer. When the
machine finishes rebooting, a “Found New Hardware Wizard” will appear with the
recommended hardware driver settings already selected. Press “Next” and follow the
onscreen prompts to complete the driver installation.
Connecting the Speakers
The Revolution 5.1 facilitates a variety of configurations ranging from two to six speakers.
Connect the Left, Right, Center, Subwoofer, Left Surround, and Right Surround speakers to
the jacks on the Revolution 5.1. Please refer to the manual for assistance with identifying
the specific output jacks.
Testing the Installation
Play a DVD or other surround-enabled media to enjoy your new surround system. Open the
Revolution 5.1 Control Panel to adjust the speaker settings. If your current DVD player cannot
decode a Dolby Digital surround sound signal, install WinDVD 5 from the included CD-ROM.
Mac OS 9.2.2 Installation
Installing the Card
Shut your computer down, unplug it from its power source, and insert the Revolution 5.1 PCI
card into an available PCI slot. For more detailed instructions on how to do this, please refer
to the Revolution 5.1 Manual’s “Hardware Setup” section. Restart the computer.
Running the Installer
Insert the Revolution CD-ROM into your Macintosh CD-ROM drive and double-click the
Revolution CD icon that will appear on your desktop. In the Revolution CD-ROM window,
double-click the “Mac OS 9.2.2” folder. Then, double-click the “Revo 5.1 Installer”
application icon and follow the instructions on each screen.

Connecting the Speakers
The Revolution 5.1 facilitates a variety of configurations ranging from two to six speakers.
Connect the Left, Right, Center, Subwoofer, Left Surround, and Right Surround speakers to
the jacks on the Revolution 5.1. 5.1. Please refer to the manual for assistance with

Testing the Installation
Play a DVD or other surround media to enjoy your new surround system. Open the Revolution
5.1 Control Panel to activate Circle Surround II™ and adjust the speaker settings.

Installing the Card

Insert the Revolution CD-ROM into your Macintosh CD-ROM drive and double-click the
Revolution CD icon that will appear on your desktop. In the Revolution CD-ROM window,
double-click the “Mac OS X” folder. Then, double-click the M-Audio Revolution “M-Audio
Revolution Installer.dmg” file. A ‘virtual’ disk called “M-Audio Revolution Software” will
open on your desktop. Double-click the “M-Audio Revolution.mpkg” and follow the
instructions on each screen.

systems with Mac OS X 10.3 and higher.

9.0b auf Ihrem Computer einrichten. Sie finden dieses Programm auf der

Start des Installationsprogramms
Fahren Sie Ihren Computer hoch. Legen Sie die mitgelieferte Treiber-CD in das Laufwerk Ihres
Computers ein und warten Sie einen Moment, bis der InstallShield-Assistent startet. Folgen

Soundkarte installieren

von Revolution 5.1 eindeutig gekennzeichnet.
Installationstest
Legen Sie eine DVD oder einen anderen Datenträger mit Surround-Sound ein und genießen
Sie das neue Hörerlebnis. Abschließend können Sie die Lautsprechereinstellungen über das
Control Panel von Revolution 5.1 ändern. Falls Ihr DVD-Player nicht für die Decodierung von
Dolby-Surround-Sound-Signalen ausgelegt ist, sollten Sie die auf der Treiber-CD mitgelieferte

Introduzione

nuova scheda audio, vi consigliamo di leggere attentamente il manuale fornito con il
prodotto, prima o dopo aver completato la procedura descritta nella presente guida.
Installazione su Windows
Nota: nel sistema deve essere installato Direct X 9.0b prima di procedere con
l'installazione del software della Revolution 5.1. Direct X 9.0b è incluso nel
CD-ROM del driver.
Eseguite il programma di installazione
Avviate il computer. Inserite il CD DEI DRIVER M-AUDIO nell'unità CD-ROM e attendete alcuni
istanti finché non viene visualizzata l'Installazione guidata. Seguite le istruzioni per installare
correttamente il driver.
Installate la scheda
Spegnete il computer, scollegatelo dalla presa di rete e inserite la scheda PCI Revolution 5.1

Collegate gli altoparlanti
La scheda Revolution 5.1 offre diverse configurazioni, che vanno da due a sei altoparlanti.
Collegate gli altoparlanti Sinistro, Destro, Centrale, Subwoofer, Surround Sinistro e Surround
Destro ai relativi jack sulla Revolution 5.1. 5.1. Fate riferimento al manuale per individuare
correttamente gli specifici jack di uscita.
Effettuate il test d'installazione
Inserite un DVD o un altro supporto dotato di surround per godere appieno del vostro nuovo
sistema surround. Aprite il pannello di controllo della Revolution 5.1 per attivare la caratteristica
Circle Surround II™ e regolate le impostazioni degli altoparlanti.
Installazione su Mac OS X
Installate la scheda
Spegnete il computer, scollegatelo dalla presa di rete e inserite la scheda PCI Revolution 5.1
in uno slot PCI libero. Per istruzioni specifiche su come effettuare questa operazione, fate
riferimento al manuale della Revolution 5.1 nella sezione relativa all’installazione hardware.
Riavviate il computer.
Eseguite il programma di installazione
Inserite il CD della Revolution nell’unità CD-ROM del Macintosh e fate doppio clic sull’icona
del CD di Revolution che appare sulla scrivania. Nella finestra del CD-ROM di Revolution, fate
doppio clic sulla cartella "Mac OS X". Fate doppio clic sul file "M-Audio Revolution
Installer.dmg". Sulla scrivania si apre un disco virtuale denominato "M-Audio Revolution
Software". Fate doppio clic sul file "M-Audio Revolution.mpkg" e seguite le istruzioni di
ciascuna schermata.
Collegate gli altoparlanti

controllo della Revolution 5.1 per attivare la caratteristica Circle Surround II™ e
regolate le impostazioni degli altoparlanti. (Le versioni precedenti alla 10.3 non
supportano gli standard AC-3 e DTS). Apple DVD Player supporta AC-3 e DTS su
sistemi con Mac OS X 10.3 e superiore.
