1. INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on choosing an NF-Walker aid. Everyone has the right to be able to move around, and at
Made for Movement we make it our mission to offer opportunities for movement to people with restricted
movement or who are only able to move on their own to a limited extent. NF-Walker offers users with limited
ability to stand or walk independently the opportunity of dynamic standing, walking and movement.
NF-Walker can be adjusted to suit the needs of most users. These instructions provide an introduction to
using NF-Walker.
2. INTENDED USE
NF-Walker is an aid intended to allow dynamic standing, walking and movement. NF-Walker M5 is suitable for
persons between 70 cm and 1.50 m with a maximum weight of 50 kg.
NF-Walker XR5 is suitable for persons between 1.30 and 1.80 m with a maximum weight of 80 kg.

. GETTING THE USER INTO NFWALKER
The following section assumes that NF-Walker has been adjusted for the user by an aid consultant from
Made for Movement or another qualified person approved by Made for Movement. The user’s carers should
also have undergone the necessary training in using the product. The information below describes a number of
methods for getting the user into and out of NF-Walker.
.. SHOES
NF-Walker must only be used with shoes compatible with the Made for Movement shoe clips supplied by
Made for Movement. Check regularly to ensure that the shoes/sandals are a good fit. Ensure that you tighten
the laces/Velcro so that the shoes fit snugly. If you are in any doubt as to the appropriate type of shoe/size,
contact Made for Movement.
.. PREPARATORY STEPS
Remove the brace from the chassis and place on a mat or firm surface. Ensure all the buckles are undone
before placing the user in the brace.
.. GETTING THE USER INTO THE BRACE
The user can be
moved using a
hoist or lifted
into the brace
and positioned
as illustrated.
The user’s pelvis
should be placed
in the centre of
the bottom broad
strap
(the hip belt).

4
.. SECURING THE USER
Avoid folding the trousers at the front of the leg before fastening the calf bow,
in order to avoid pressure marks. Tighten the strap on the calf bow securely.
It should be sufficiently tight that the carer can only get one finger between the
calf bow and the back of the user’s leg when the user is in the standing position.
Fasten the shoes to the brace first.
Bend the user’s knee and hold the heel down.
Bend the brace at the knee joint, place the
two fasteners in the notch and screw tight.
Pull the chest straps gently to ensure the user is secure in the belt then tighten
the belt. Don’t forget to secure the yellow safety strap.
Check that the pelvis is horizontal
before fastening the hip belt.

5
.. GETTING THE USER ONTO THE CHASSIS WITHOUT LIFTING STRAPS
Roll the user onto one side and lift
the user holding the brace.
Hold down the button on the pelvic plate and lower
the quick bolt into the hole on the column.
Fasten the elastics front and back, then release the brake.

6
.. GETTING THE USER ONTO THE CHASSIS USING LIFTING STRAPS
It is important that the lifting straps are inside the chest
belt and on the front of the user’s shoulders. Fasten the
lifting loops to the hoist (inner or outer loop depending
on weight of the user).
Lift the user using the hoist and lower onto the
chassis. Check the user’s position so that the
quick bolt goes into the hole on the column.
Hold down the button.
Fasten the elastics front and back then release the brake.

. GETTING THE USER OUT OF NFWALKER
.. WITHOUT LIFTING STRAPS
Apply the brake and loosen
the elastics front and back.
Stand alongside the user,
facing forwards.
Take hold of the hip bows
and press the button using
your thumb. Support the
child’s upper body against
your body and lift the child,
in the brace, out of the
chassis.
It is important to bend at
the knees and use the large
muscle groups for lifting.
Move the user to a firm
surface or mat.
Once the user is in a safe
position, loosen all the
straps and the shoe clips.
Roll the user on to one side
and remove the brace.

Fasten the lifting loops to the hoist (inner or
outer loop depending on weight of the user).
NB! The lifting straps must be inside the chest
belt and on the front of the user’s shoulders.
.. USING LIFTING STRAPS
Hold down the button and lift the user using
the hoist. The user is now free of the chassis
and can be lifted onto a firm surface.
Once the user is in a safe position, loosen all
the straps and the shoe clips. Roll the user
on to one side and remove the brace.
Apply the brake and loosen the elastics front and back.

outdoors, any sand and dirt should be brushed off after use.
Check regularly to ensure all buckles, elastics and straps are intact. Check that all the joints of the brace are
