the most versatile a d sophisticated GPS receiver o the market
today.
At the touch of a butto , your NAV 1000 PLUS ca har ess the full
capabilities of the US Gover me t's $10 billio Global Positio i g
System (GPS). GPS is truly the first 24-hour, worldwide, three-
dime sio al avigatio system. GPS is also the world's most precise
positio i g system.
The NAV 1000 PLUS was desig ed to be highly versatile. It ca be
easily mou ted at your av statio , or it ca be completely portable.
Through its NMEA 0183 i terface the NAV 1000 PLUS ca be
co ected to your autopilot, plotter, sou der, or radar.
The NAV 1000 PLUS is the o ly GPS receiver to i tegrate the
cutti g edge tech ology of gallium arse ide microcircuitry. Gallium
arse ide e ables electro s to move five times faster, yet draw o ly
o e quarter the electrical power of silico circuitry.
With a two-a d-a-half seco d positio update rate, multi-leg route
capability, NMEA 0183 i terface, waypoi t projectio , a d a full
compleme t of avigatio features, the NAV 1000 PLUS will greatly
e ha ce your cruisi g pleasure.

This product is a excelle t avigatio aid, but it does ot replace the
eed for careful charti g a d good judgme t. Never rely solely o o e
device for avigati g.
Use Care to Avoid I accuracies
The Global Positio i g System (GPS) is operated by the U.S.
gover me t which is solely respo sible for the accuracy a d the
mai te a ce of GPS. Certai co ditio s such as cha ges i the
satellite's orbit, sig al,or health may make the system less accurate.
Accuracy ca also be affected by poor satellite geometry. WHEN THE
ACCURACY WARNING APPEARS ON THE SCREEN, USE THIS DATA
WITH EXTREME CAUTION.
THE GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM IS STILL IN THE
DEVELOPMENTAL PROCESS. The gover me t may make cha ges
to the system which could affect the performa ce of GPS receivers.
Set the Correct Mode
AMONG THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS YOU MUST KNOW IS
WHETHER YOUR UNIT IS SET FOR TWO DIMENSIONAL (2D) OR
THREE DIMENSIONAL (3D) MODE OF OPERATION.

Usi g o ly three satellites for obtai i g a positio , 2D mode gives a
latitude a d lo gitude positio . Altitude must be e tered by the user i
the 2D mode. To e sure maximum accuracy i a positio , the altitude
e tered should be correct to withi +/-5 meters.
The recomme ded mode for la d use is 3D. That mea s the u it will
require four satellites to obtai a positio fix; thereby determi i g
altitude as well as latitude a d lo gitude. (This i sures the accuracy of
the fix where exact altitude is ot available.)

leadi g GPS receiver i the world. The NAV 1000 PLUS uses the
precise a d accurate, a d co ti uously operati g, Global Positio i g
System (GPS). The NAV 1000 PLUS co tai s umerous i ovatio s,
i cludi g state of the art Gallium Arse ide i tegrated circuits, to bri g to
you a revolutio ary GPS product that is compact, lightweight, a d low i
price.
The NAV 1000 PLUS features a NMEA dataport so you ca i terface
with various autopilots, plotters, radars, a d sou ders. Also, you may
e ter a d follow multi-leg routes. The NAV 1000 PLUS is waterproof,
weighs 30 ou ces, a d it floats.
Although the NAV 1000 PLUS uses state-of-the-art tech ology, it is
desig ed to be easy to use with o double fu ctio keys, a d with clear
a d simple displays.
