Unpacking
We recommend you take a few minutes to
read this brief manual and to be aware of
the important information regarding product
features, setup and operation.
As with most electronic devices, we strongly
recommend you retain this manual and the
original packaging. In the unlikely event the
product must be returned for servicing, the
original packaging (or reasonable equivalent)
is required.

Components of the product and
packaging can be recycled.
1. Never place this product in an
environment that could affect its
performance or reduce its service life.
2. Ensure that desktop models are placed
on a stable surface that have adequate
support for the weight of the amplifier.
3. Avoid impact, extreme pressure or heavy
vibration to the case.
4. The rackmount models are designed to
fit standard 19” rackmount, and should
be fitted according to the specifications
of the cabinet/case.
5. Keep away from damp or dusty
environments. Do not use this product
near water or in wet areas.
6. Ensure adequate air-flow and do not
cover the cooling vents at the front
or rear of the amplifier, use a vacuum
cleaner to clear ventilation grilles of any
dust or debris build-ups
7. Do not install on its side or upside-down.
8. Keep out of direct sunlight and away
from heat sources.
9. Ensure adequate access to controls and
connections
10. Use mains lead provided. Check for
correct mains voltage and condition of
IEC lead before connecting to power
outlet
11. Unplug the amplifier during lightning
storms or when unused for long periods
of time.
12. Refer all servicing to qualified service
personnel. Servicing is required when
the amplifier or mains cable has been
damaged in any way.
13. Never switch on if liquid or objects have
fallen into the amplifier, or if the amplifier
has been exposed to rain or moisture.
If the amplifier has been dropped, do
not switch on, but instead contact your
supplier. Plug this amplifier into a proper
wall socket, do not modify the plug and
make the plug available for disconnection
should the need arise.

Rackmount Version
Introduction
Thank you for purchasing our Magna Desktop
or Rackmount Amplifier.
These units are the first 100V line amplifiers
with their own built in MP3 recorder and alert
trigger. The PA Mixer Amplifiers are rated with
power outputs from 30W, 60W to 120W, and
are ideal for use in schools, supermarkets,
banks, background music for public areas
and general speech use. They are an all in
one solution with multiple source inputs, a
pre-amplifier and mixer power amplifier all
contained in one compact unit.
A USB port and SD card slot on the front
of the unit provide easy access for MP3 file
storage and playback. The micro USB socket
on the back of the unit is to download your
own 20 second alert message, which will
automatically play back once triggered via
the alert input contacts, for example: door
contact, timer unit or push button.
The amplifier is designed with automatic
overload protection, short circuit and high
temperature shut off to avoid any damage to
the internal circuits.
NOTE: The ‘Alert’ message is for alarm
notification purposes only, it should not be
used as an emergency evacuation notice. The
recorded message will play immediately once
the relevant contact has been triggered.

selectable phantom power) on the rear
panel, or 6.3mm jack managed.
• Mic 2 & 3/Line 1 & 2 are unbalanced 6.3mm
jack inputs
• Line 3 & 4 are RCA phono line inputs, and
there is one RCA phono line output.
• Alert input with MOH (Music on Hold) with
priority to mute all inputs when activated.
• Built in FM tuner and MP3 player with
remote control
• Bluetooth connectivity.
• Individual source volume control, plus
overall Bass / Treble and Master.
• Short-circuit, clip, overload and high temp
protection.
• 230V AC or 24V DC power supply.
Connection
100V Line System
Connect the rear IEC inlet to the mains using
the supplied mains lead (or an equivalent
approved type). Alternatively, the amplifier
can be powered by a 24V battery, such as a
lorry or boat battery, by connecting the “+”
and “-” of the battery to the DC24V IN on the
rear panel.
• Ensure that all DC cables are capable of
handling the required current
(10A min. recommended)
The amplifiers have a total of 4 input
channels. MIC 1 input is fed to a dedicated
microphone channel. Connect the main
announcement microphone to this channel
using a balanced XLR lead, or a good quality
6.3mm jack. Microphones or mono line inputs
connected to the MIC 2/LINE 1 and MIC 3/
LINE 2 inputs use a good quality 6.3mm jack.
Make sure the correct sensitivity is selected
for the type of input source.
Connect any other line level audio inputs to
the LINE 3 and LINE 4 connectors on the rear
panel using good quality RCA phono leads.
Since the amplifiers have a mono output,
stereo signals will be summed together.
Further mixer-amplifiers or slave amplifiers
can be connected from the rear LINE OUT
sockets, again using a good quality RCA lead.
This output carries the full mix of all channels
1 – 4 as produced through the speakers. The
terminals of a 100V speaker are connected
to a transformer and in some cases, this
transformer may be “tapped” for different
power ratings.
These tapping’s can be used to adjust the
wattage (and output volume) of each speaker
in the system to help achieve
A 100V line speaker system can comprise
of as many speakers as the amplifier can
handle. The determining factor for how many
speakers can be used on a single amplifier
is the power rating. For most purposes, it
is advised to connect as many speakers as
needed with a combined wattage of no more
than 80% of the amplifier’s output power
rating.

A 70V/100V commercial output is also
available. Please note that one wire only
should be connected to COM screw and one
wire to the selected impedance or voltage.
DANGER: Combinations of 70V, 100V
andΩcannotbeconnectedtothe
output at the same time.
Five different types of connections are
provided.Thelowimpedancesection:4Ω,
8Ω,16Ωisdesignedforasmallnumberof
speakers to be connected to your amplifier.
The 70V/100V section is especially designed
for multiple speaker distribution. When using
the 70V/100V output, the speakers used have
to be equipped with 70V/100V transformer.
The total wattage set on the secondary side
of the transformers on your speaker line must
not exceed 80% output power: 30W, 60W
or 120W. Failure to respect this may cause
permanent damage to the amplifier.
In the UK, the 100V line systems is the norm,
whilst in America the 70V line system is
preferred.

Operation
When all connections to the amplifier are
made, turn all the volume controls to the
MIN position and then switch ON. The “ON”
LED will illuminate. Turn BASS and TREBLE
controls to the 12 o’clock position (pointing
straight up) and turn MASTER rotary control
up quarter way for testing.
Ensure a signal is being fed to at least one
of the line inputs 1, 2, 3 or 4 and gradually
increase the volume control for that channel
until the output is heard through the speakers.
Turn up the MASTER to the maximum
required volume level and reduce the channel
volume control if necessary.
NOTE:
• The built-in FM Tuner, USB/SD MP3
and Bluetooth connection volumes are
controlled via the IR remote control.
• The output of the amplifier is represented
on the level meter LEDs and care should
be taken that the red “Clip” LED is only
lit momentarily during use. Anything
longer than a short flash of this LED may
be indicating distortion or clipping of the
output signal and the MASTER should be
turned down.
If a microphone is connected to Mic 1 input,
make sure it is switched on and if it requires
phantom power, make sure this feature is
enabled. Gradually increase its volume control
whilst speaking into the microphone until the
required volume level is reached.
The microphone should not be able to “hear”
the speakers, which can cause feedback (a
squealing or howling noise). If VOX is enabled
by setting the priority DIP switch to Mic 1,
audio playback will be reduced in volume
automatically when speaking into Mic1. Use
the volume to control primary sound level.
In addition to channel and MASTER volume
controls, there are BASS and TREBLE EQ
controls to adjust the tone of the overall
output. At the 12 o’clock position, these
controls are applying no effect to the signal
(no boost or cut). Moving the BASS control
clockwise boosts the low frequencies in the
audio, whilst moving it anticlockwise will cut
these low frequencies. Likewise, moving the
TREBLE control clockwise boosts the high
frequencies in the audio, whilst moving it
anticlockwise will cut these high frequencies.
Adjust these EQ controls to suit the type of
audio signal or compensate for the room
acoustics.
USB/SD Playback
Push a USB pen drive into the USB port and/
or an SD card into the SD card input on the
front of the unit. The player will automatically
scan the USB/SD and play any MP3 music
file that is stored. Note: the USB port on the
rear of the unit is for programming the alert
message only, and will not work with the MP3
player.
Play, FF, RW, next track, next folder controls
are all available via the remote control.
FM Tuner
Press the mode select button to switch to the
FM tuner function. Use the Previous or Next
buttons to select a stored channel.
Tuning and Storing stations
Use the Forward/Reverse seek buttons to
manually tune the frequency in steps of
0.05MHz. Alternatively, press and hold the
Forward/Reverse seek buttons to auto search
for available stations. Upon finding a station,
the auto search will stop, giving the option to
store this station. At this point, pressing the
PLAY/PAUSE button will flash a “00” channel
number in the display. Use the Previous/Next
buttons to select an appropriate channel
memory. Press PLAY/PAUSE again to confirm
and store the station into the selected
channel memory.
Auto search can be stopped at any time by
pressing the Forward/Reverse seek buttons
Bluetooth Connection
To connect your device to the amplifier
via Bluetooth, go into your own devices
Bluetooth settings and search for ‘UP-321B’.
Once paired, a voice from the amplifier
will announce the connection and media
playback will be possible. Volume control is
from your device, or via the remote control for
the amplifier.
Mute ON/OFF
Pressing the MUTE ON/OFF button will mute
the output of the audio player.
USB to Internal
Recorded Message
This is used to download any MP3 message
or new configuration to the amplifiers internal
memory. To record a message please make
sure your file is in an MP3 format. Connect
the amplifier to the USB port of your
computer with the amplifier switched off.
Your computer will automatically connect to
the MP3 player. The amplifier comes with a
default alert noise and config file.
DO NOT DELETE THE CONFIG FILE AS
THIS WILL STOP THE MP3 TRIGGER
FROM WORKING. Delete the default MP3
File on the amplifiers MP3 Player and drag
your saved MP3 file from computer to the
MP3 player on the amplifier. This will then
become the new recording when the alert
input contacts are activated
Alert Input Contacts
This will cause the MP3 player to the play the
message from the internal memory by simply
shorting the two contacts together. This can
be done via a control board, timer unit or a
simple switch connected to the amplifier.
Once triggered - if the alert has been given
priority – it will mute all the other inputs
to their minimum levels and play the pre-
recorded message. (See dipswitch settings at
the beginning of this manual.)
Stand-By
Press the Stand-By button on the remote to
put the amplifier into stand-by mode.

accordance with the instructions, it may cause harmful interference to radio communications.
However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in any particular installation. If
this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, (which can
be determined by turning the equipment off and on) then the following steps can be taken to
prevent or minimise the issue:
• Re-orient or relocate the receiving FM antenna.
• Increase the distance between the affected equipment and amplifier.
• Connect the equipment to an outlet on a different circuit to the amplifier.
