This productwasdesignedandmanufacturedto meetstrict qualityand
safetystandards.Thereare, however,someinstallationand operation
precautionswhichyoushouldbeparticularlyawareof.
1. ReadInstructions- Allthesafetyandoperatinginstructionsshould
bereadbeforetheapplianceisoperated.
2. RetainInstructions- Thesafetyandoperatinginstructionsshould
beretainedfor futurereference.
3. HeedWarnings- Allwarningsontheapplianceandintheoperating
instructionsshouldbeadheredto.
4. FollowInstructions- Moperatinganduseinstructionsshouldbe
followed.
5. WaterandMoisture- Tt'eapplianceshouldnotbeusednearwater
- for example,neara bathtub,washbowl,kitchensink,laundrytub,
ina wetbasementorneara swimmingpool,etc.
6. CartsandStands- Theapplianceshouldbeusedonlywitha cartor
standthatisrecommendedbythemanufacturer.
6A. _Anapplianceandcart combinationshould bemoved
with care.Quickstops,excessiveforce,anduneven
surfacesmaycausetheapplianceandcartcombination
to overturn.
7. WallorCeilingMounting- Theapplianceshouldbemountedtoa
wallorceilingonlyasrecommendedbythemanufacturer.
8. Ventilation- Theapplianceshouldbesituatedsothatitslocationor
positiondoesnotinterferewithitsproperventilation.Forexample,
theapplianceshouldnotbesituatedona bed,sofa,rug,orsimilar
surfacethat may blocktheventilationopenings;or, placedin a
built-ininstallation,suchasa bookcaseorcabinetthatmayimpede
theflowofairthroughtheventilationopenings.
9. Heat- Theapplianceshouldbesituatedawayfromhearsources
suchas radiators,heatregisters,stoves,or otherappliances
(includingamplifiers)thatproduceheat.
10. Power Sources-Theapplianceshouldbeconnectedto a power
supplyonlyofthetypedescribedintheoperatinginstructionsoras
markedontheappliance.
11. Power-CordProtection-Powersupplycordsshouldberoutedso
thattheyarenotlikelyto bewalkedonor pinchedbyitemsplaced
uponor againstthem, payingparticularattentionto cordsand
plugs,conveniencereceptacles,andthepointwheretheyexitfrom
theappliance.
12. Cleaning- Theapplianceshouldbecleanedonlyasrecommended
bythemanufacturer.
13. PowerLines - Anoutdoorantennashouldbe locatedawayfrom
powerlines.
14. OutdoorAntennaGrounding- Ifanoutsideantennaisconnectedto
thereceiver,besurethe antennasystemis groundedsoas to
providesomeprotectionagainstvoltagesurgesandbuiltupstatic
charges.
Section810oftheNationalElectricCode,ANSI/NFPANo.70-1984,
providesinformationwithrespectto propergroundingofthemats
and supportingstructuregroundingof the lead-inwireto an
antennadischargeunit,sizeofgroundingconnectors,locationof
antenna-dischargeunit,connectionto groundingelectrodesand
requirementsforthegroundingelectrode.SeeFig.below.
15. Non-usePeriods- The powercordofthe applianceshouldbe
unpluggedfrom theoutletwhenleftunusedfor a longperiodof
time.
16. ObjectandLiquid Entry- Careshouldbetakensothatobjectsdo
notfall andliquidsare not spilledintotheenclosurethrough
openings.
17. DamageRequiringService- Theapplianceshouldbeservicedby
qualifiedservicepersonnelwhen:
A. Thepowersupplycordortheplughasbeendamaged;or
B. Objects havefallen, or liquid has beenspilledinto the
appliance;or
C. Theappliancehasbeenexposedtorain;or
O. Theappliancedoesnotappeartooperatenormallyorexhibits
amarkedchangeinperformance;or
E. Theappliancehasbeendropped,ortheenclosuredamaged.
18. Servicing- Theusershouldnotattempttoservicetheappliance
beyondthatdescribedin the operatinginstructions.All other
servicingshouldbereferredtoqualifiedservicepersonnel.
NotetotheCATVsysteminstaller:Thisreminderisprovidedtocallthe
CATVsysteminstaller'sattentiontoArticle 820-40 ofthe NEC that
providesguidelinesforpropergroundingand,in particular,specifiesthat
thecablegroundshallbe connectedto thegrounding systemofthe
building,asclosetothepointofcableentryaspractical.
