forapplicationssuchastitling, logoinsertions, and addingcomputer-generateddatatovideo. Forflexibility
and easeofuse, thesystemallowskeying, sizingandpositioningtobedonewiththesuppliedF/Xcontroller,
IRremotecontroller, orMagniPremierapplicationsoftware. Theapplicationsoftwareprovidesa seriesof
windowscreensthatenableseasyselectionofsizeandlocationofthevideoandgraphicskeying.

TheMCP-601’snovelVideo/GraphicsSplitfunctionprovidesa waytoadd graphic-basedinformationfrom
thecomputerdisplay—suchascommercialmessages—totheoutput, whilepreservingthefulltelevision
pictureinreducedsize. Theinputvideocanberesizedfrom5%to100%and positionedanywherewithinthe
frameinthevideooutput.Thisallowstheadditionofgraphicsand messagesintheoutputvideoscreen
withoutinterferingwiththeoriginalvideopicture.
TheMCP-601 providesseveralpowerfulkeying functions. Internalkeying orexternalkeying canbe
selectedforusewithmixersandswitchers. TheuniqueSDI601 keyoutputprovidesdownstream
keying capabilityfordigitalswitchers. Keycolors arepaletteregisterselectablefromaVGAdisplay
orfromavideosignal, andareusedtooverlaygraphicsontothevideoasinchromakeying, or
overlayvideoontothescanconvertedVGAinthevideooutput.TheTransparentKeymode
providesaconvenientmethodofaddingtransparentlogos tovideo.TheAlphaKeymodeprovidesa
methodoffullfieldspatialkeying definedbyluminancekeylevels. TheAlphaKeylevelsarestored
asatemplateintheMCP-601andusedtokeytheVGAdisplayontothevideo.
TheMCP-601 canbecontrolledbyahand-heldIRremotecontroller, theMagniPremierapplication
softwarethroughtheRS-232orUSBports, andtheFX-1controllerunit. Residentsoftwareisnot
requiredonthecomputertooperatetheunit.

ANALOG RESIZING:
Theanaloginputsareroutedthroughthedigitalprocessing.Thevideomixand keyingaredonedigitallyand
laterconvertedtoanalogformatattheoutput. Externalkeyfunctionisdisabledinthismode.
VIDEOSQUEEZE:
VideoandGraphicssplitscreenmodewheretheresizedvideostartsatauserdesignatedpoint(thefactory
defaultisthelefthandcorner)whiletheGraphicsfillstherestofthescreen. Threefixedvideosizes(25%,
56%and 100%full screen)areprogrammedintheMCP-601,withothersizesavailablethroughtheIR
controller, MagniPremierapplicationsoftwareand thecommandcode.

processing. The digital graphicsdataismixedorkeyedinadigitalmixerand routed tothe SDI and analog

TheselectedportionoftheGraphicsscreenidentifiedbytheMagniPortcanbepositionedandzoomedup to
2Xon thevideooutput.
COLORKEYING:
Akeycolorcanbeselectedandcomparedtoeitherthegraphicsorthevideoincomingsignal. Wheneverthere
isa colormatch, themixerswitchestooutputtheothersignal. ThiscanbedoneintheMCP-601 internal
mixerorthroughanexternalkeyer, typicallyintoananalogswitcherwithanexternalkeyinput. Fora digital
switcher, thedigitalkeysignalfromtheMCP-601 istreatedasanotherdigitalinputsignal. TheMCP-601
providesbothanalogandSDI-601 Keysignalssimultaneously.
