ARE YOU READY TO DRIVE?
Before each drive, you need to make sure that you and your kart are both ready to drive. To hel get you
re ared, this section discusses how to evaluate your driving readiness, what items you should check on your
kart, and adjustments to make for your comfort, convenience, or safety. Before you drive your kart for the first

Protective Apparel
Although com lete rotection is not ossible, wearing ro er gear can reduce the chance of injury should you

Helmet and Eye Protection
Your helmet is your most im ortant iece of rotective gear because it offers the best

O en-face helmets offer some rotection, but a full-face helmet offers more. Regardless of the style,
look for a D.O.T. (De artment of Trans ortation) or Snell Memorial Foundation (SNELL) sticker on any
helmet you buy. Always wear a face shield or goggles to rotect your eyes and hel your vision.
Additional Driving Gear
In addition to a helmet and eye rotection, we also recommend:
- Sturdy off-road motorcycle boots to hel rotect feet, ankles, and lower legs.
- Off-Road motorcycle gloves to hel rotect your hands
- Driving ants with knee and hi ads, a driving jersey with added elbows, and
chest rotection.
Driver Training
Develo ing your driving skills is an ongoing rocess. Even if you are and ex erienced driver, take time to
become familiar with the cart controls and how the kart handles. Practice driving in a safe, o en area to
develo your skills. Do not drive on rough terrain until you get accustomed to the kart controls and feel
comfortable with its size and weight.
Operating this kart without wearing an approved motorcycle helmet, eye protection, and
protective clothing could increase
your chances of head and/or eye injury, and the possibility
of death in the event of a severe accident.
Always wear and approved motorcycle helmet that fits properly and wear eye protection
(goggles or face shield), gloves, boots, long sleeved shirt or jacket and long pants.
