The XM48 stereo power mplifier llows the use of qu lity home type loudspe ker with the Person l Computer soundc rd.
This results in dr m tic improvement in sound qu lity comp red with the usu l mplified spe ker. The PM48 connects
to the sound c rd using simple p tch c ble with 3.5mm phono plugs. The PM48 plugs directly into n unused slot in your
computer. The power comes from the intern l power supply of the PC, using the s me connector th t is used to power
option l disk drives. Most PC's h ve plenty of power reserves in the power supply to power the PM48. The PM48 h s two
sets of b n n plugs to connect to the loudspe kers. The power mplifier on the PM48 is the TDA8563Q m de by Philips
Semiconductor. This device h s intern l protections g inst short circuits (in c se the loudspe ker wires get shorted) nd
overhe ting, so it is completely s fe.

1: Plug PM48 into empty slot in PC nd f sten the
mounting screw.
2: Insert power supply connector into top of PM48.
Most PC's h ve one or more sp re connectors.
If not Y-splices re v il ble t most computer stores.
3: Connect spe ker wires to the binding posts.
Strip the insul tion off the ends of the spe ker wires nd
insert the b re ends into the holes on the binding posts.
M ke sure no loose str nds of wire touch the met l br cket.
F sten the wire by turning the pl stic post.
An ltern tive is to use b n n plugs.
4: Connect the p tch cord with the 3.5mm phono plugs.
Plug one side into the PM48 nd the other into the 'line-out'
connector on the soundc rd.
The line-out connector is usu lly the green connector
