1. Remove current hot date coder
1.1 Stop the line, power o the hot date
coder.
If using air-driven hot date coder, shut
o air supply and disconnect air pipe.
1.2 Remove packaging material from
the coder bracket area.
1.4 Using wider end of Allen key a
from Marsh 241D box, remove the
2 bracket mounting screws.
1.5 Remove the bracket locking handle. 1.6 Remove existing platen rubber
from bracket, along with any platen
rubber clamps.
1.3 Undo connector on hot date coder.

3. Fix Marsh 241D to the correct print position
2. Fit Marsh 241D to bracket
3.1 Undo the 2 screws ½ turn. 3.2 Using smaller end of the supplied
Allen key a, loosen the gap
adjustment screw 1 full turn.
2.1 Fit new Marsh adhesive backed
platen rubber b in place of old
platen rubber.
2.2 Fit Marsh 241D to bracket clamp
using the 2 new mounting screws c
from the Marsh 241D box. Tighten
the 2 screws.
3.3 Push the printer towards the platen
rubber b to make sure the gap setting
tool dis pressing against, and in square
alignment with, the platen rubber.

3.4 Hold the printer rmly to keep in
this position and then tighten the
gap adjustment screw.
3.7 Push printhead carriage away to
unclip from the gap setting tool d.
Pull out the gap setting tool and
keep safe.
3.9a If it DOES slide, then re-t the
bracket locking handle.
3.5 Continue to hold the printer rmly
to keep in this position. Tighten both
bracket mounting screws c .
3.8 Wind on the ribbon by hand to
ensure it is tight.
3.9b If it does NOT slide, the bracket
locking handle is not needed. Unscrew
the top mounting screw ½ turn ONLY,
slide printer into desired position and
re-tighten the top mounting screw.
3.6 IMPORTANT: Check the gap setting
tool dhas remained in contact with,
and is square to, the platen rubber b .
3.9 Push on bracket clamp to see if it is
free to slide along the bracket slide bar.
3.10 Re-thread the packaging material
in the host machine.

4. Connect Marsh 241D
4.1 Unpack Marsh 241D I/O extension
cable eand t to Marsh 241D.
4.4 Unplug mains connector and
remaining connector from the hot date
coder control box. Remove the hot date
coder control box.
4.7 Using either the existing mains
IEC cable or the mains IEC cable f
supplied with the Marsh 241D,
connect mains power to the
power supply unit f.
4.2 Now focus on the hot date coder
control box, sitting on top of the VFFS
control cabinet. Unplug I/O connector
from the hot date coder control box.
4.5 Unpack Marsh 241D power
supply unit fand place it in place
of the hot date coder control box.
4.8 The Marsh 241D will power up with
a ashing light sequence and it will
wind a small amount of ribbon.
4.3 Connect I/O connector to
the I/O extension cable e.
4.6 Connect the 24VDC cable from the
Marsh 241D power supply unit fto
the Marsh 241D printer.
The Marsh 241D is
now ready to print
