Enrolling Users
COSEC NGT FCX supports enrollment of finger print templates, user cards and special
function cards.
There are three ways to enroll users:
• From the COSEC Server
• From the COSEC NGT FCX Door Menu
• From the NGT FCX Web-page
Enrollment of users from the COSEC NGT Door Menu and Web-page is described here.
For instructions on enrolling users from the COSEC Server, refer the COSEC System
Manual.
Before You Start
Make sure the following are ready:
• The COSEC NGT FCX is installed at the desired location, connected to the COSEC
Server on a monitoring computer, and is powered on.
Change HR Password
Password

• COSEC NGT FCX is added as a door on the COSEC Server, and the NGT Direct Door
Parameters are configured.
• Users are created on the COSEC Server application (Go to Users > User
Configuration)
• COSEC NGT FCX is assigned to Users (Go to Users > Assign Panel/Direct Door >
Device Type. Select Direct Door, save and then select Users)
• List of users whose Finger templates and or cards you need to enroll, with their
unique User IDs or Names.
• Enable Enrollment through Special Function on COSEC NGT FCX. To do this,
- Go to COSEC Server > Devices > Special Functions > Single Device
- Click Panel/Direct Door and in the Controller List, select the Direct Door option
Select the desired Door from the list.
- In the list of Special Functions for the Door, enable Enroll User and Enable Enroll
Special Card.
- Under Devices, click Door.
- Select the desired Door and click the Other Parameters tab.
- Click Edit and enable the Enrollment through Special Function checkbox.
- Save changes.
Enrolling Users from the COSEC NGT FCX Door Menu
• Ask your users to appear at the site where COSEC NGT is installed.
• On the home screen of the device, tap the Menu icon.
• Tap HR.
• Tap the Password field to invoke the numeric keypad.
• Enter the HR Password and tap OK. Default HR Password: 1111
• Tap Enrollment, and then tap Enroll User.
• Tap the User ID field to invoke the keypad.
• Enter the unique User ID assigned to the person being enrolled.
• The created user will appear on the screen.
• Tap Enrollment Type, and select the type of credential to be enrolled.
• Ask the user to place their finger on the sensor or show their read-only card,
as per the enrollment type selected for the user.
Enrolling Users from the COSEC NGT FCX Web-page
•Connect a stand-alone computer/laptop to the Ethernet port of COSEC NGT FCX.
• Open a web browser window on your computer/laptop.
• In the address bar of the browser, enter the current IP Address of the COSEC NGT
FCX (default http://192.168.50.1) and press the Enter key on your computer
keyboard.
• The COSEC NGT FCX web page will open.
• In User Level, select Admin.
• In Login Password, type the admin password (default: 1234), and then click Login.
• Click Users > Enroll Users.
In the Enrollment window, configure the following parameters:
•Enroll: To enroll a User (Card or Finger Print), select User. To enroll a special function
card, select Special Card.
•User ID: Enter the unique User ID of the user against which the enrolled credentials
are to be stored.
•Enrollment Type: Select the type of credential to be enrolled - Read Only Card, Smart
Card, Finger Print, Fingerprint + Card.
•Card: If you selected Read Only Card or Fingerprint + Card, select the number of
Read Only cards to be enrolled.
Enrollment of users is also possible from the Admin option on the Menu.
This task can also
be performed using
the Special Card
for Enroll User

• Finger Template: If you selected Finger Print or Fingerprint + Card, select the number
of Finger templates to be enrolled.
•Special Card: Select the Special Function.
• Click Submit to save.
• To enroll Users and Special Function Cards from the COSEC Server, read the topic
Enrollment in the COSEC System Manual.
User Authentication
COSEC NGT FCX supports three types of authentication:
• Finger print
• Card
• Pin
Users can authenticate themselves using the credentials (Finger print/Card/Pin) with which
they are enrolled.
To authenticate with the enrolled Finger,
• Place the finger on the sensor.
• Wait for confirmation.
To authenticate with enrolled Card,
• Show the enrolled card.
• Wait for confirmation.
To authenticate with Pin,
• Tap the PIN icon on the home screen.
• Use the numeric keypad to enter the unique Authentication PIN provided to you.
• Tap OK.
• Wait for confirmation.
• Tap the Going-In icon on the toolbar of the home screen.
• Tap the desired Going-In option:
•Official-In
• Short Leave-In
• Regular-In
• Post Break-In
• Over Time-In
• Authenticate with Finger/Card/PIN.
• Tap the Going-Out icon on the toolbar of the home screen.
• Tap the desired Going-Out option:
•Official-Out
• Short Leave-Out
• Regular-Out
• Pre Break-Out
• Over Time-Out
• Authenticate with Finger/Card/PIN.
Late-In
You can activate and deactivate Late-In from either the Admin or the HR menu.
• On the home screen of the device, tap the Menu icon.
• Tap Admin or HR.
• Tap the Password field to invoke the numeric keypad.
• Enter the Admin/HR Password and tap OK.
• Tap Late-In Start to activate Late-In.
• Similarly, tap Late-In Stop to deactivate.
Going-Out
Going-In
To enroll users for PIN Authentication, you must configure a unique PIN for each user
on the COSEC Server. On the COSEC Server, go to Users > User Configuration >
Access Details > Pin.

To be able to use the above functions, you must have the Time and Attendance special
functions enabled on the COSEC Server. Icons that appear dimmed denote that the
function is not configured on the Server. For instructions, refer the topic Special Function
(Configuring Special Functions on a Direct Door) in the COSEC System Manual.
To be able to use these features, you must have the special functions Door Lock/Door
Unlock, Door Normal (in Zone Settings), Clear Alarm (in Alarms) enabled on the COSEC
Server. For instructions, refer the topic Special Function (Configuring Special Functions
on a Direct Door) in the COSEC System Manual.
When the door is locked, users can exit. They can also use the special function options
for Going-Out (if configured on the COSEC Server).
To unlock the door,
• Repeat the same steps as above.
• In the Admin Menu options, tap Door Control, and then tap Door Unlock.
• You will get a configuration and the Door Unlock icon will appear on the status bar, on
the home screen.
To switch the door controller mode to Normal,
• Tap the Menu icon on the home screen.
• Tap Admin.
• Tap the Password field to invoke the numeric keypad.
• Enter the Admin Password and tap OK. Default Admin Password: 1234.
• Tap Door Control.
• Tap Door Normal.
• You will get a confirmation.
Clear Alarm
To clear an existing alarm,
• Tap the Menu icon on the home screen.
• Tap Admin.
• Tap the Password field to invoke the numeric keypad.
• Enter the Admin Password and tap OK. Default Admin Password: 1234.
• Tap Door Control.
• Tap Clear Alarms.
• You will get a confirmation.
Door Control
If you have the Access Control add-on module on your COSEC Server, you can use COSEC
NGT FCX to lock and unlock the door, set the door in normal or controlled mode, clear panic
alarms that ring on the door.
To lock the door,
• Tap the Menu icon on the home screen.
• Tap Admin.
• Tap the Password field to invoke the numeric keypad.
• Enter the Admin Password and tap OK. Default Admin Password: 1234.
• Tap the Door Control option.
• To lock the door, tap the Door Lock icon.
• You will get a confirmation and the Door Lock icon will appear on the status bar, on
the home screen.
Early-Out
You can activate and deactivate Early-Out from either the Admin or the HR menu.
• On the home screen of the device, tap the Menu icon.
• Tap Admin or HR.
• Tap the Password field to invoke the numeric keypad.
• Enter the Admin/HR Password and tap OK.
• Tap Early-Out Start to activate Early-Out.
• Similarly, tap Early-Out Stop to deactivate.
Lock/Unlock/Normalize Door

ŸIn Settings, tap Digital Clock.
ŸDigital Clock will appear on the home screen.

ŸIn Settings, tap Analog Clock.
ŸAnalog Clock will appear on the home screen.

ŸIn Settings, tap Date and Time.
ŸSet the Date and Time to the desired values.
ŸTap OK to save.
ŸThe Date and Time you set will appear on the Status bar on the home screen.

ŸTo change wall paper, in Settings, tap Wall paper.
ŸTap the desired Wall paper thumbnail.
ŸThe selected wall paper will appear on the home screen.
Wallpaper
ŸTo configure Server parameters, in Settings, tap Server Settings.
ŸConfigure the following parameters as required.
- Server IP Address
- Subnet Mask
- Gateway Address
- Port
- Connect via - IP Address or Domain Name
ŸTap OK to save.
Server Settings
ŸTo configure 2G/3G Mobile Broadband parameters, in Settings, tap Modem.
ŸConfigure the Modem parameters as required.
ŸTap OK to save.
ŸTo configure Ethernet connection parameters, in Settings, tap LAN.
Configure the following parameters as required.
- IP Address
- Subnet Mask
- Gateway Address
- Tap OK to save.

ŸTo configure Wi-Fi parameters, in Settings, tap Wi-Fi.
ŸConfigure the Wi-Fi parameters as required.
ŸTap OK to save.
Wi-Fi Settings
PASSWORD
You need a password to access Admin, HR and e-Canteen menus. The default passwords to
these menus are:
ŸAdmin Password: 1234
ŸHR Password: 1111
Ÿe-Canteen Password: Same as HR password.
You can change the Admin and HR passwords to the desired values.
Changing Admin Password
ŸTap the Menu icon on the home screen.
ŸTap Admin.
ŸTap the Password field to invoke the numeric keypad.
ŸEnter the current Admin Password and tap OK.
ŸGo to Settings > Password
ŸEnter the new password and tap OK.

ŸTap the Menu icon on the home screen.
ŸTap Admin.
ŸTap the Password field to invoke the numeric keypad.
ŸEnter the Admin Password and tap OK.
ŸTap Settings.

Changing HR Password
• Tap the Menu icon on the home screen.
• Tap HR.
• Tap the Password field to invoke the numeric keypad.
• Enter the current HR Password and tap OK.
• Tap Password.
• Enter the new password and tap OK.
Changing e-Canteen Password
Follow the steps described for changing the HR Password.
If you forget the HR password, you may set it to the default value from the Admin menu.

BACKUP AND UPDATE
First make sure that a USB device is connected to the COSEC NGT FCX.
ŸTap Admin and enter the Admin Password.
ŸTap Backup and Update.
• First, copy the configuration you want to upload on to a USB device from the COSEC
Server.
• Make sure the USB device is connected to the COSEC NGT FCX.
• To copy configuration to COSEC NGT FCX, tap Restore Configuration.
• First, copy the Firmware you want to upload on to a USB device from the COSEC
Server.
• Make sure the USB device is connected to the COSEC NGT FCX.
• To upgrade firmware of COSEC NGT FCX, tap Upgrade Firmware.
• Make sure the USB device is connected to the COSEC NGT FCX.
• To download event logs from the COSEC NGT FCX, tap Write Events.
• Connect the USB device to the computer on which the COSEC Server.
• To view the event logs, open the COSEC monitor.
• Go to Tools > Data Transfer
• In Data Transfer, select Download.
e-Canteen
Matrix offers e-Canteen, an add-on module for COSEC, for easy and efficient management
of cafeteria operations.
With e-Canteen, cafeteria managers can reduce waiting time, speed up payments, manage
cash, and track usage of meal programs, among others.
If you have the Matrix Cafeteria Management module installed on your COSEC Server, you
can configure the COSEC NGT FCX as an e-Canteen device by following these steps:
1. Create COSEC NGT FCX as Direct Door on the COSEC Server application.
• Go to Devices>Door.
• Click Add Door and select NGT Direct Door in the Select Door Type list.
• Configure the NGT Direct Door Parameters.
2. Configure e-Canteen on the COSEC Server.
• Go to e-Canteen>Masters.
• In Item Master, create a list of items to be sold with names, price and discount
levels.
• In Menu Master, create menus and add items to each menu.
• In Menu Scheduling, configure menu schedule for each door to be used as
e-Canteen device.
• In Accounts Configuration, configure parameters for pre-paid and post-paid
account types.
3. Assign e-Canteen application to COSEC NGT FCX.
• Open the NGT Direct Door you created.
• Go to Devices > Door. Click an existing NGT Direct Door.
• The NGT Direct Door Parameters window opens.
• In the NGT Direct Door Parameters window, click the Edit button.

Devices in the COSEC System Manual.
When COSEC NGT FCX is successfully configured as an e-Canteen device, the menu for
the current Menu Schedule will appear on the screen.
ŸRepeat these steps to select as many items as you want.
ŸOnce your order is completed, tap Pay Bill on the bottom of the screen.
ŸShow your credential – Finger, Read Only card or Smart Card.
ŸYour transaction details will appear on the screen with a confirmation.
ŸCollect your bill from the printer (if connected).
Using e-Canteen
Placing an Order
ŸOn the serving menu, choose the item you want to buy.
ŸTap Qty (quantity). A spin box will appear.
ŸTo increase quantity tap + (plus)
ŸTo decrease quantity tap – (minus)
Managing e-Canteen
Mark items as 'Sold Out’
If the current time is outside the defined Menu Schedule, a no service notification will
appear on your screen.
Print the Last Bill
ŸA checkmark will appear on the item you
have selected, along with the amount.
• In Basic Parameters, go to Application, and then select e-Canteen from the list.
• Click the Save button.
4. Assign users to the e-Canteen device on the COSEC Server.
• Go to Users > User Configuration > e-Canteen.
• Allow e-Canteen, define discount level and account type: prepaid or postpaid.
ŸTo mark restocked items, tap Item Available.
ŸA list of items you marked as Sold Out will appear.
ŸTap the item to be marked as available.
ŸThese items will appear again on the serving menu.
Mark items as 'Available’
To be able to use these features, you must have the special functions 'Sold Out' and
'Available' enabled on the COSEC Server. For instructions, refer the topic Special Function
(Configuring Special Functions on a Direct Door) in the COSEC System Manual.
ŸOn the Home screen, tap Menu.
ŸTap e-Canteen.
ŸTap Manage e-Canteen.
ŸOn password prompt, enter HR Password.
ŸTo print the bill of the last transaction, tap Print Last Bill.
ŸTo mark out-of-stock items, tap Item Sold Out.
ŸA list of items will appear.
ŸTap the item to be marked as sold out.

ŸYou must Pay Bill within 10 seconds of the last item you selected, or your selection
will be cleared.
ŸTo delete all items you selected, tap Clear Menu.
ŸTo remove a few selected items, tap Qty, and set it to '0' (zero).
ŸPre-paid users must show Smart Card for authentication.
ŸOn the serving menu, tap the Menu icon.
ŸTap e-Canteen.
ŸTap View Balance.
ŸShow your Pre-paid Card.
ŸYour User ID, Name and Balance will appear on the screen.

ABOUT DEVICE
You can view the following information about COSEC NGT FCX,
ŸCurrent firmware Version Revision number
ŸMAC Address
ŸLAN IP Address
ŸIP Address of the computer on which COSEC Server is running.
ŸConnection Status of Server, Wi-Fi, Mobile Broadband, MMC Card, Card readers
ŸStatus of Door, Door Sense, Auxiliary Input and Output Ports, Exit Switch, Alarms
To view device information,
ŸOn the home screen of the device, tap the Menu icon.
ŸTap About Device.
ŸFlick or tap the Forward Arrow to view more details.
TIME STAMPING
Time stamping enables you to capture the images of the users when they attempt
authentication at the door, during a particular time period. You can have time stamping
triggered when users are allowed access or denied access, or in both conditions. COSEC
NGT FCX has an in-built camera for capturing images.
To use this feature, do the following:
ŸActivate Time Stamping and configure its parameters on the COSEC Server
application.
ŸDefine time period (Start and End times and Days of the week) during which the
function should be active in the Time Stamping parameters.
ŸDefine the Trigger to activate image capturing, whether on Access Allowed, Access
Denied, or both.
For configuration instructions, refer the topic Time Stamping in the COSEC System
Manual. With Time Stamping configured, whenever a user punches with Finger or Card or
PIN, as per the trigger you have configured, the camera will capture the image.
GREETINGS
COSEC NGT FCX enables you to greet users who punch in with a customized greeting
message (audio and text) on special occasions like birthdays, festivals, or make special
announcements.
To use this feature, you need to do the following configuration on the COSEC Server
application:
• Select the type of message to be played: Birthday or Customized.
• Type the contents of the message.
• Select an appropriate Image and Audio file from the available list.
• If you selected Customized message, you must additionally specify the date and
user.
When Birthday Message is configured as greetings, whenever a user punches with Finger
or Card or PIN, the COSEC Server also checks the birth date configured for that user. If the
birth date matches the current date, COSEC NGT FCX will greet the user with the message
you typed, along with the audio and image you selected.
When Customized Message is configured as greetings, the user will be greeted with the
message, audio and image, on the date you have specified.
