Initial Connection Set-Up
1) Plug in a cable from your computer to Port 1 of the Maxxwave 1404 Appliance.
2) Set your computer’s IP address to: 192.168.1.3, Subnet: 255.255.255.0 and the gateway can be left blank.
3) Open up a web browser and go to http://192.168.1.2.
4) Default username: ubuntu, Default password: ubuntu

5) After initial log in, configure the settings for Ports 2 – 4. These ports will act as a switch.
Optional Selections (shown in Figure 1):
•DHCP Client: Select if the controller needs to get an IP from your DHCP server
•DHCP Server: Select if you need the device to give out IPs for your network.
•Static IP Address: Select if you want to configure a static IP for the controller
Note: The default password can be changed at the top of the page after logging in using the “Change Password” button.
If you change the password there is no way to reset it, if you forget it.
Note: This screen [Figure 1] allows you to change the default ports that the Unifi controller will use. If you change them
from the default setting, please ensure you make note of those changes.

Note: This screen [Figure 2] allows you to enable a DHCP server for your network. If a preexisting DHCP server is already
set up on your network, then you do not need to use this feature. If you choose to utilize this feature, ensure you are
careful when entering the correct information in the correct input boxes.
Incorrect information can cause a loss of network connectivity.

Note: Each box in this screen [Figure 3] may have static settings for the controller. However, ensure you input the
correct information for use on your network so the controller will function properly.
Do not assign the controller an IP on your network that is already in use.

6) - Now unplug your laptop from Port 1. Plug the networking equipment you wish to set up to either port 2, 3, or 4.
Remember to also plug your laptop into the networking device.
- Be sure to remove the static IP you set up earlier. That way the computer connects to your network properly.
- Open up a web browser and go to https://IPofCONTROLLER:8443 EX. https://192.168.1.1:8443. Your web browser
should display like Figure 4.

7) Follow the on screen prompts of Figure 4.
If you wish to gain access to your device, proceed by plugging a console cable into the Console port of the router. Connect
the other end of the cable into your computer and use an application like Putty to gain access by setting your baud as
115200, data bits as 8, and the stop bit as 1, with no flow control.
To login to the console the credentials are: username: ubuntu, password: ubuntu. Figure 5 shows a similar screen to what
you should see.
The Console port uses a standard Cisco serial console blue cable, which can be purchased separately, SKU: MW-BLUCCBL.
