a, Do not wash items that have been
previously cleaned in, washed in,
soaked in, or spotted with gasoline,
dry-cleaning solvents, other flam-
mable or explosive substances as
they give off vapors that could ignite
or explode. Hand wash and line dry
any items containing these sub-
stances.
Any material on which you have
used a cleaning solvent,or which is
saturated with flammable liquids or
solids, should not be placed in the
washer until all traces of these Iiq-
uids or solids and their fumes have
been removed.
These items include acetone,dena-
tured alcohol, gasoline, kerosene,
some liquid household cleaners,
some spot removers, turpentine,
waxesand wax removers.

Do not add gasoline, dry-cleaning
solvents, or other flammable or
explosive substances to the wash
water. These substances give off
vapors that could igniteor explode.
Under certain conditions, hydrogen
gas may be produced in a hotwater
systemthat has not been used for 2
weeks or more. HYDROGEN GAS
IS EXPLOSIVE. Ifthe hotwater sys-
tem has not been used for such a
period, before using a washing
machine or combination washer-
dryer, turn on all hot water faucets
and let the water flow from each for
several minutes. This will release
any accumulated hydrogengas. As
the gas is flammable, do not smoke
or use an open flame during this
time.
7. Do not reach into the appliance if the
tub or agitator ismoving.
8. Do not allowchildrenor petsto playon,
in, or in front of the appliance. Close
supervisionisnecessarywhentheappli-
ance isusednear childrenand pets.
9. Do nottamper with controls.
10. Do not repair or replaceany part ofthe
appliance or attempt any servicing
unless specifically recommended in
published user-repair instructions that
you understand and have the skills to
carry out.

washed in following loads and cause

Before the appliance is removed from
service or discarded, remove the door
to thewashing compartment.
Inlet hoses are subject to damage and
deterioration over time. Check the
hoses periodically for bulges, kinks,
cuts, wear or leaks and replace them
every five years.

The dispenser automatically dilutes liquid
chlorine bleach beforeit reachesyour wash
load.Touse,follow these steps:
1. Measure liquid chlorine bleachcarefully,
followingthe instructionson the bottle.
2. Add the bleach to the dispenser before
adding theload.Avoidsplashing or over-
filling thedispenser.Wipe up spills.
• Never pour undiluted liquid chlorine
bleachdirectlyonto theload or intothe
wash tub. It isa powerfulchemicaland
can cause fabric damage, such as
tearing or color loss, if not used prop-
erly.
• If you prefer to use color-safe, non-
chlorine bleach, pour it into the wash
tub with your detergent. Do not pour
non-chlorine bleaches into the bleach
dispenser.
This dispenserautomatically releasesliquid •
fabric softenerat the proper time during the
cycle.Touse, follow these steps:
1. Pour liquid fabric softener into the dis-
penserusing the amount recommended
on the package. •
2. Add warm water to the dispenser until it
reaches the MAX line.Wipe up spills.
• Donot stop thewasher during thefirst
spin. This will cause the dispenser to
emptytoo soon.
• Never pour fabric softener directly on
the load. Itwill leavespots and stains.
• Use the dispenserfor liquid fabric sof-
teners only. Clean the area in and
around the dispenser frequently with
hotwater, detergentand a soft brush.
Use either liquid or granular laundry
detergent. For best results, be sure
detergent is added to the washer
BEFORE the load and be sure wash
water is above 6G°F.
Use the correct amount of detergent for
the load size,soil level and water condi-
tions. Use more detergent if you have
hard water and/or very soiled loads.
If you havesoft water or a lightly soiled
load, use less detergent.(See manufac-
turer's instructions.)
Wipe up any detergent spills on the
washer.

• Put dry, unfolded clothes loosely in the
tub, up to thetop rowof holesfor a max-
imum load.
Do not wrap large items like sheets
around the agitator.
Mix large and small items for best circu-
lation. Wash bulky items like blankets
separately.
When laundering wrinkle free items or
items of delicate construction, washable
woolens or loosely knit items, never use
less than the MEDIUM water level set-
ting. This will minimize shrinkage, wrin-
kling and pulling of seams.
For best results, add the detergent to
washtub beforeadding the load.
Close lid carefully to avoidslamming.

The end-of-cycle CHIME will sound once
when the cycle is completed.The volumeof
the chime can beset on HIor LO,or turned
completely OFF by setting the switch in the
upper right-handcorner ofthecontrol panel.
The chime can also be set to sound once
every 4 minutes until it is manually turned
off.(See Step4 Selecta CustomizedCycle,
pg.4)

BEFORE the selected water level is
reached. A simple touch of the switch pro-
vides a 7-secondflow of coldwater.

1. Unscrewthe dispenserfill cap(figure 1).
2. Pour in yourfavorite liquid detergent,up
to 100 fluid ouncesat one time.
3. Replace the dispenserfill cap.
4. Close the washer lid.
5. Open the washer lid.
Steps 7 and 8 only need to be done
ONCE when first filling the dispenser
or changingbrands of detergent,are
chosen(see pg.4).You may hearthis
change in speed.This is normal.
,Move the slide indicator all the way to
the top (figure 1). Next, follow steps 7
and 8 to set the amount of detergent
usedfor the averageload.
.Place the cap of your detergent bottle
under the "PUSH" button. Fill the cap
with detergent from the dispenser asfull
as you would for most of your loads by
pressing and holding the "PUSH"button
(figure 2). Place the detergent from the
cap either in the tub or back in the dis-
penser.

1. Supportthe bottomofthe dispenserwith
one hand. Use a quarter and turn four
slotted screws counter clockwise 1/4
turn (figure4).
2. Pull the dispenser out from the bottom
of the lid.
3. Removefill cap.
4. Fill with water about half way. Move the
dispenser from side to side to wash out
detergent.
5. With the dispenser over a large sink or
bath tub, turn it upside down to empty
thewater/detergent out ofthe dispenser
fill area.

Placethe top of thedispenser in the top
lip of thelid.
Push the bottom of the dispenser into
the bottomof the lid.
3. While supporting the bottom, use a
quarter and turn eachof the four screws
1/4 turn clockwiseto lock the dispenser
into place.
4. Close the washer lid.
5. Open the washer lid.
6. Press the "PUSH"button to release any
remaining water/detergent. Repeat
steps 4-6 until no more water can be
drained from the dispenser.It is normal
for a small amount of water to remain in
the dispenser after cleaning.
7. Refill the dispenser with your favorite
detergent (seepage 7).

Turn offthe water faucets after finishing
the day's washing. This will shut off the
water supply to the washer and prevent the
unlikelypossibilityof damagefromescaping
water.
Use a soft cloth to wipe up all detergent,
bleachor otherspills as they occur.
Cleanthe following as recommended:
Control Panel - clean with a soft, damp
cloth and glass cleaner. Do not use abra-
sive powders or cleaning pads.
Cabinet - clean with soap and water.
Interior - hard water deposits may be
removed using a recommendedhard water
remover/cleaner labeled washer safe.
Followthecleaner manufacturer'sdirections
for use, and make sure the washer is run
through a complete cycle to rinse out any
remainingcleaning substance.
Washers can be damaged if water is not •
removed from hoses and internal compo-
nents before storage. Prepare the washer
for storageas follows:
Select NORMAL on the WHITES cycle
and add one cup of bleach OR white
vinegar to a full load of water without
clothes. (Do not mix bleachand vinegar
in the samewash. Hazardousfumes can
form.) Run the washer through a com-
pletecycle.
Turnthewater faucetsoff and disconnect
the inlet hoses.
Disconnect the washer from the electri-
calsupply and leavethewasher lid open
to let air circulate insidethe tub.
If the washer has been stored in below-
freezing temperatures,allowtime for the
washer to thaw out prior to use.
After storage, select NORMAL on the
WHITES cycle and run the washer
througha completecycle.
