1. Rules and general warning
1.1 Introduction
This manual gives all the specific information that you need for a proper use of the
equipment.
After buying the instrument, read the manual carefully and refer to it any time you
have doubts on how to use the equipment or when you have to carry out
maintenance operations.
Keep the manual on the machine. If this is not possible, keep it ready to hand.

OTHER USE IS FORBIDDEN.

1.2 Terms of guarantee
SUBJECT OF THE GUARANTEE: the guarantee is applied to the product and to
those parts which are marked with the serial number or any other identification
number used by MC elettronica;
HOW LONG THE GUARANTEE IS EFFECTIVE: MC elettronica S.r.l.
guarantees the MCK 800 Monitor for a period of 1 year from the manufacturing
date (printed on the identification label which is to be found on the rear side of
the equipment) and also accessories.
The guarantee covers the product and any repair carried out within the
agreed terms.
This guarantee does not apply in the event of:
accidental damage;
improper use;
modifications which haven’t been agreed upon, improper installation (or
setting);
damage caused when a non-MC elettronica equipment, which is
mechanically or electrically connected to our instruments, breaks or does not
function properly;
act of God (lightning, floods, fire or other causes which do not depend from
MC elettronica).
Repairs under guarantee, which must be carried out in the laboratories of our
authorized centres, are entirely free of charge provided the equipment is directly
transported to said laboratories or sent free port. Transport charges and risks are
entirely borne by the Customer.
The above-mentioned guarantee is valid unless otherwise stated between MC
elettronica and the Customer.

Warning
Mc elettronica declines any liability for damages or direct or indirect
charges, as a consequence of improper use or inability of the Customer
to use the equipment separately and/or together with other instruments.
1.3 Service
Service is available in all the countries where the equipment is officially supplied by
MC elettronica (during and after the guarantee period).
Any kind of operation that is to be carried out on the SEEDER MONITOR MCK 800
Computer must be done in accordance with the instructions stated in this manual or
as agreed with MC elettronica.
If not, the relative terms of guarantee might become void.

2. General description
The MCK 800 monitor is multifunction electronic instrument suitable for small
precision drills, pneumatic or mechanical control of sowing “monogerm” (corn,
soybean, sunflower, sugar beet, etc.)
The instrument controls the operation of the file indicating the LCD by horizontal bars,
any abnormality of sowing.
During the working cycle, the following data are displayed and controlled:
the width (width - PROG);
the 'working area: total and partial (Ha);
the status of files;
the hours worked on.
The computer carries out the above-mentioned operations by means of a series of
photocells installed on each single row of the seed drill for seeds counting, and a
speed sensor to be installed on a wheel of the machine.

2.1 How to install the system
2.1.1 Wiring attachments

Connect the signal cable to the junction box (B) placed on the seed drill;
connect the speed sensor (VEL) and the photocells (D);
connect the supply cable (F) of the Computer to the battery of the vehicle;
connect the RED wire to the positive pole (+) and the BLACK wire to the
negative pole (-).
2.2 How to install the sensors
The MCK 800 Computer is equipped with 2 types of sensors:
speed sensor (always present) cod. 481;
photocell sensor (always present) cod. 4228, 10FOT-1269, 10FOT-
SEMIMINUTI-0001.
2.2.1 How to install the speed sensor D.18 cod. 481
You can install the speed sensor (cod. 481) anywhere there is a mechanic
movement, in the wheel (front or rear wheel) of the agricultural vehicle/machine, or by
making a metal reference which sticks out of at least 7 mm (Figure 1 – ref. <C>). We
recommend to install the speed sensor inside the wheel, by placing the head sensor
opposite the rim bolts (Figure 1 – ref. <A>).
Adjust the distance between the sensors and the bolts to about 2/3 mm (Figure 1 –
ref. <B>).
Fix the sensor holder bracket (supplied) to a fixed part of the vehicle/machine so that
it is well fixed to the structure. Lock the sensor to the bracket with the nut and lock
nut.

Warning
We recommend to protect the sensor cable with a rubber sheath.

2.2.2 How to install the photocells
Photocells must be placed on each single row of the seed drill close to the seed-drop
area; if seed drills with seed-drop pipes are used, photocells must be placed at about
half the length of the pipe.
To install photocells, proceed as follows:
distribute the photocells cables on the seed drill air pipes, respecting the row
numeration (Figure 2);
fix the junction box (A) at the centre of the seed drill with some clamps held to
the machine;
install the photocells taking into account the references of the sowing element
(reported on the technical sheet which is related to the type and mark of the seed
drill used, and enclosed with this manual).

Warning
make sure that photocells do not obstacle the seed-drop or the
mechanical functioning of the sowing element.

The front panel allows the operator to display all the data of the working cycle. The
following elements can be distinguished:

A. “ha PART” e “+” key : it shows the partial area worked in hectares
(range: from 0.01 to 999.9 ha); during the programming phase, it increases
the displayed value.
B. “WIDTH – PROG “ key : it allows the operator to display and change the
working width.
C. “ha TOTAL” e “-“ key : it shows the total area worked in hectares (range:
from 0.01 to 999.9 ha); during the programming phase, it decreases the
displayed value.
D. Liquid crystal display : it constantly shows the rows status and data
requested by the switchboard.
E. “ON – OFF” key: its switching on is shown by the corresponding green
led.

NOTE: cables must be ordered according to the type of seed drill used; the following
data are required while ordering: rows number, sowing distance between rows, seed
drill brand and model.
All components of the Kit - SEEDER MONITOR MCK 800 are standard, therefore
they can be used on all models of seed drills; only the supports for the photocells are
specific for the mark and model of the seed drill used

5. Using the Seeder Control MCK 800
1) Power on the monitor by pressing the “ON - OFF” key. The instrument will
perform for 1 second a brief test by activating the acoustic alarm and lighting
up all the display segments; after this test, working hours will be displayed
for 3 seconds.
2) To reset the totalizators (partial and total area worked in hectares), hold
down the corresponding key until the display views “0.00” (see picture 2).
To reset working hours, hold down any key for about 3 seconds while the display
visualizes working hours (after the initial test operated at the switching on). After
working hours, the monitor displays the rows which are operative as lit segments.
Segments which are off represent rows that are not checked by the monitor. When a
row does not sow regularly, the corresponding display segment starts flashing and an
intermittent audible alarm is given, which will sound for 5 seconds.
To display worked area and working width press the corresponding keys. The monitor
will display again the rows segments after 6 seconds.

6. Programming
6.1 Programming the working width
To program the working width press “width - PROG” key (see ref. B page12) and hold
it pressed until letter “L” starts flashing on the display. Keeping “width - PROG” key
pressed, hold down also “+” key (see ref. A) to increase or “-” key (ref. C) to decrease
the displayed value, until the desired value is obtained (expressed in metres and
centimetres, from 1.00 to 9.90 metres).
Picture 3 shows an example of working width programming.

6.2 Programming the “C” parameter (pulses / 100 metres)
To program “C” parameter press “width - PROG” (ref. B page 12) and “ha Total” keys
(ref. C) simultaneously and hold them pressed until the display shows the current
parameter value, preceded by letter “C” flashing; then release keys.
Press “+” key (ref. A) to increase or “-” key (ref. C) to decrease the displayed value,
until the desired value (from 20 to 999 pulses / meter) is obtained.
Press “width - PROG.” key for about 1 second to quit programming.
Picture 4 shows an example of „C“ parameter programming.

6.2.1 Practical example for calculating the C parameter to be
programmed
As anticipated previously, in the “C” parameter you have to program the number of
impulses the proximity sensor has to send to the Tachometer every 100 linear meters
the machine works. Therefore, you must calculate how many reference points will
pass in front of the sensor every 100 linear meters. In this example we assume that
the proximity sensor is assembled so as to sense a magnet fixed to one of the wheel
bolts (see Figure 5):
place the machine on a flat ground and mark clearly (with a piece of chalk, for
instance) the outer side of the tire in the exact place where it touches the ground
(figure 5 – ref. <A>);
take as your reference on the ground a point that corresponds to the mark you
made on the tire (starting point. Figure 5 – ref. <A>) and move the machine
slowly forward until the wheel has made an exact number of rotations, for our
example let’s say 30, then stop the machine (end point. Figure 5 – ref. <B>); to
obtain highest precision of setting you’ll need to go at least 50 meters;
measure the distance from the starting point to the end point;
let’s assume the distance you measured is 60 meters: 60 meters divided by 30
rotations gives 2 meters as the measure of each rotation of the wheel;
dividing 100 meters (reference distance for parameter “C”) by 2 meters (wheel
circumference) the result is that the machine wheel makes 50 rotations in 100
meters;
now you only have to multiply the number of rotations the wheel makes in 100
meters (according to our calculation, 50) by the number of reference points the
sensor detects at each rotation of the wheel (according to our example, 1 bolt):
the result is the number of references/impulses that are detected per 100 linear
meters (according to our example: 50 x 1 = 50). Insert this value for the “C”-
parameter programming;

6.3 Automatic calibration of “C” parameter
The automatic calibration of “C” parameter is effected by covering a fixed distance of
100 metres according to the instructions listed below:
1) Measure a distance of 100 metres on the ground and place the machine on
the starting point;
2) Display “C” parameter; press “+” (ref A) and „-“ (ref. C) keys simultaneously
to start counting (the display will be reset); release keys;
3) Drive along a way of 100 metres and stop after covering that fixed distance;
during the counting phase the display will show the number of impulses
received by the sensor;
4) Stop counting by pressing “width - PROG.” key (ref. B). The impulses
obtained will be automatically programmed in “C” parameter.
6.4 How to set the rows-alarm sensitivity
To program the rows-alarm sensitivity (values from 1 to 20) the monitor must be off.
Press B and C keys (see picture 1 page 12) simultaneously and hold them pressed;
at the same tome power on the monitor, and keep on holding B and C keys pressed
until „S-“ text is displayed, followed by the current sensitivity value; press C(-) or A(+)
keys to change the displayed value, while press and hold A key pressed for at least 2
seconds to store the desired value. From now on the monitor will start its normal
working cycle.
The sensitivity value which is to be programmed depends upon the type of sowing
effected; we advise you to program it as reported below:

6.5 How to check speed sensor for functioning
Check the functioning of the speed sensor as follows:
1. Switch on the computer (<ON/OFF>-key);
2. Using a screwdriver or other metal mass, pass over the red part of the sensor
repeatedly. If the computer displays the simulated speed (which probably will not
be constant) it means that the sensor is functioning and is properly connected.
6.6 How to check photocells for functioning
Check the functioning of the photocells as follows:
Simulated test:
With one of your fingers or with a small object, pass in front of each photocell: if the
photocell is correctly connected, it will send impulses to the monitor, which will
activate an audible alarm together with the switching on of the led corresponding to
the row.
After a few seconds the led will switch off and the audible alarm will go out. Repeat
the test with the next photocell.
N.B.: it is necessary to wait for the led to switch off again.
Execute this operation on each photocell.
Real test:
If possible, execute a real test using the seeds that will be used afterwards; this will
guarantee a proper functioning while sowing.

7. Maintenance
This chapter gives instructions on how to carry out ordinary and extraordinary
maintenance.
Ordinary maintenance refers to those operations which must be carried out
periodically. As they do not require specific skills, they can be carried out by the users
(operators etc.).
Extraordinary maintenance refers to unforeseeable operations due to mechanic or
electric failures. They require specific technical skills, so they should be exclusively
carried out by qualified personnel (maintenance personnel etc.)
7.1 Ordinary maintenance
Ordinary maintenance consists in cleaning the instrument. Clean the instrument with
a wet cloth and mild detergent to avoid erasing the serigraphs on the panel.

Warning
Do not use pressure water jets.
Do not use abrasive products, solvents or alcohol.
Do not press on the keyboard with pointed or hard objects in order
to avoid damaging the polyester film, thus endangering the
impermeability of the keyboard.
7.1.1 How to protect the main connector
In case of an extended use of the Monitor it is advisable to disconnect the main signal
connector (see Figure 1 on page 7) from the harness. It is advisable to insulate both
the connectors (of the Monitor and of the Harness) by using a Nylon protection.
If the connectors of the monitor and of the harness are NOT disconnected no
protection is needed.
7.2 Extraordinary maintenance

Extraordinary maintenance must be carried out by authorized personnel
only.
