Meade LX200 “Classic” Telescopes
Bench Test Setup

I find it convenient to test LX200 components outside the telescope on a bench where
access is much easier. Refer to the Fig 1 to Fig 5 for a complete visualization of the
setup. I use a static control pad on my bench to ensure the electronics are protected. Do
not set up the components on metal.
The minimal system is shown in Fig 1 and consists of:
•Main Board
•Power Panel with 34 Conductor Ribbon Cable
•Hand Controller with cable
•RA Motor Assembly
Refer to Figs 3 and 4 for the correct orientation of the Main Board and Power Panel. The
connection of the ribbon cable in the correct orientation and with the connectors correctly
mated is critical to the operation of the system. Incorrect placement may cause damage
to the main board.
