tankfittingsarealtered toinsurecompliance.Ifyour LP gas
tankdoesnot fit the Hoseand Regulator suppliedwith your
newgrill, the tankisoutdated and mustbe replaced.Note:
EffectiveApril 1, 2002all LP gastankssoldmustinclude
an OPD”OverflowProtectionDevice.Thisinternaldevice
preventstheLP gastankfrombeingoverfilled. Tanks

Answer: The humming sound is gas flowing through
theRegulator.A lowvolumeofsoundisnormal andwill
not interfere with the operation ofyour grill. Ifthe hum-
mingsoundisloudandexcessive youneedtopurgeair
fromthegaslineorreset theRegulatorexcessgasflow
deviceasdescribed above.
Question:HowandwhendoIcleanthe interior
cookingcomponentsofmygrill?
StainlessSteelCookingGrids: Beforeinitialuseand
as needed, wash Grids with amild detergent and rinse
withhotwater.Forstubbornfoodresidueuseadegreaser
andfiberor brass cleaning brush.
Flame Tamers: Toreduce the chance offlare-ups,
FlameTamersshouldbecleanedwheneverfoodor
grease drippingsaccumulate. Brushoff Flame
Tamers withafibertype brush andturn overto allow
theburnerheattoburnoffanystubornfoodresidue.
TheCeramicFlameTamersworkequallywell on
either side.
Grease Tray:
Toreducethechanceoffire,theGreaseTrayshould
beinspected beforeeachgrilluse.Remove grease(a
plastic spatula workswell) and wash Grease Traywith
amild soap and warmwater solution.
Question: Whatcausesstainlesssteeltodiscolor?
Answer:Weathering and highheat cancause a
stainless steel grill Lid to turn tanin color.This is not
to be confused with rust and is not aproduct defect.
Machineoils usedinthemanufacturing processof
stainless steel, cooking oils and a dirtygrill Lid can
also encourage discoloration ifthe Lid is not cleaned
prior to grill use.After your grill is assembled, remove
anyprotective PVC filmfromthe grill Lid and use a
Stainless Steel Cleaner andsoftcloth to remove
residualadhesive and oils fromthe inside andoutside
ofyourgrillLid.Neveruseabrasive cleaners orscrub-
bers.Routinecleaning to remove dirt, grease and oils
will helpdiscourage Lid discoloration.
Turn all Control Knobs to the OFF position.
Turn off the LP gas tankvalve.
Disconnect Regulator fromLP gas tank.
Let unit stand for 5minutes.
Reconnect Regulator to the LP gas tank.
Open Grill Lid or Side Burner Lid. Turn the
tankvalve on slowlyuntil 1/4 to 1/2 open.
Light the Burner farthest fromfuel source by
turning its Control Knob to HIGH then push
the Electronic Ignition 3-4 seconds to light.
Question: Mygrill has alow flame and sometimes
will not light. Why?
Answer: You need to purge air fromthe gasline or
reset the Regulator excess gas flowdevice. Opening
the tankvalve all the wayor too quicklytriggers the
Regulators safetydevice to shut downgas flow which
prevents excessive gas flowto your grill. Lighting the
Burnerfarthestfromthefuelsourceeverytimewillhelp
eliminate air pockets in the Manifold. Performthis pro-
cedure every timeanewLP tankis connected to grill:
Check LPgassupply.An emptyLPgastank weighs
about 20 pounds.Afull tankweighs about 40 pounds.
Checkto insure all gas connections are secure.
The IgnitionAAbatterymayneed replacing.
Ignition wiresmaybe loose. Remove the battery,
inspect the Ignitor JunctionBox found behind the
Control Panel and connect anyloose wires.
SparkElectrode Tipsmayneedrepositioning. Referto
the ElectrodeCheck?procedures foundon page8.
Checkthat the end ofeach Burner Tube is properly
located over eachGasValve Orifice.
There may be anobstruction in the gasline. Tocorrect
this,remove LP gasHose and Regulator or Natural
Gas fuel line fromyour grill. Do not smoke!Open gas
supplyfor one second to clear any obstruction from
fuel line. Close off gas supplyat source and reconnect
fuel line to your grill.
