TSR2 Installation Guide
Introduction
The TSR2 Remote Reset unit allows engineer resetting to
be performed over the telephone rather than by a site
visit. The unit is connected to the Control Panel so that it
inhibitstheresetfunctionuntila'RemoteReset'codehas
been entered.
TheControlPanel isprogrammedas 'UserReset'and the
alarm contacts of the TSR2 are connected to any
tamper loop (normally the main tamper) on the Control
Panel. When an alarm is generated the tamper loop is
brokenandpreventsthe userfromresettingtheir system.
The TSR2 will display a four digit 'Seed' code which the
user quotes to the Central Station or alarm company.
This is then entered into a decoder and a unique
'Remote Reset' code is generated. This code is passed
back to the user and, on entering the 'Remote Reset'
code, the TSR2 will reset. The tamper loop is then closed
and the user may reset their Control Panel.
The 'Remote Reset' code is generated using an
algorithm identified by a 3 digit number. An alternative
algorithm may be selected but it must be the same as
theone used bythe CentralStation (or alarmcompany)
otherwise the 'Remote Reset' code will be incorrect.
Connections
Connection terminals are as follows:
SUPPLY +/- 12V dc, 30mA (normal) and 100mA
(in alarm). These terminals should be
connected to the Control Panel
Auxiliary.
N/C, COM, N/O These are a set of voltage free
contacts: Common (COM),
Normally Closed (N/C) and Normally
Open (N/O) In most cases the N/C
and COM should be connected
into the tamper zone on the Control
Panel.

the relay when the unit is reset, i.e., the relay is
energised when the unit is reset and
de-energised when the unit is triggered.
SET The SET input can be used to ensure
that the TSR2 display remains blank
until the system has been unset by
the user. (a requirement of BS4737:
Part 1: 1986). The input may be
configured for -ve or +ve applied
signalling. The SET jumper-link JP4 must
be set to the required position.
TRIG TheTRIG inputisthe signalthat activates
the TSR2. The input may be configured
for -ve or +ve applied signalling. The
TRIG jumper-link JP3 must be set to the
required position.
Installation
Before making any connections to the Control Panel or
TSR2, ensure that all power is removed (mains and
battery).
1. Separate the cover and base by using a
screwdriverto push2of theclips (topor bottom)
inward from the base indents, then lift the cover
assembly noting that the PCB is connected to
the under side of the cover.
2. Holdthebaseinposition(keyholetothetop)and
mark the three securing holes, drill and plug the
wallasrequired.Passallcablesintothebasevia
the cable entry points as appropriate and
secure the base to the wall.
3. Connect cables to the required terminals
(Figure 1).
4. Set the TRIG jumper-link to the required position
(Figure 1).
5. Set the SET jumper-link to the required position
(Figure 1).
6. Settherequiredalgorithm(ifrequired)bycutting
the links.

TSR2
From the factory the TSR2 is set to algorithm '004' (all links
made), however this may be changed by cutting the
required links (see Figure1). To change the algorithm
number cut the links so that the numbers add up to the
required algorithm number, e.g., to set the algorithm to
'011' cut the links number 8+2+1.
Testing
1. CliptheTSR2coverontothebase,beingcareful
not to trap any cables or to obstruct the tamper
switch.
2. Apply power to the Control Panel (mains and
battery). The TSR2 will show a four digit 'seed'
codeandwill 'beep'every30seconds,thismay
be silenced by pressing any key. The Control
Panel will be in a tamper alarm condition. Enter
theuserpasscodetosilencetheControlPanel.
3. CalltheCentralStation(oralarmcompany)and
quote the 'seed' code. They will reply with a
'Remote Reset' code.
4. Enter the 'Remote Reset' code into the TSR2, the
display will go blank and the unit is now reset.
☞Oncethe TSR2hasbeen resetitis locked-outfor

5. Resetthe ControlPaneland returnit totheunset
condition.
6. After 2 minutes set the system and activate an
alarm circuit. Unset the system and repeat the
steps (3) & (4).
7. Finally make sure that the user is properly
instructed in the use of the TSR2 (try a couple of
practice 'Remote Resets') and ensure that they
have the correct telephone number to ring for
the 'Remote Reset' code.
