2. Installation
2.1. Drivers and software installation
To install FonTel all cables have to be properly connecte an software
have to be installe on a PC. For USB recor ers a rivers shoul be
installe also.
The FonTel software requires for its correct operation a soun car
installe un er Win ows operating system, an DirectX rivers in version
8.0 or higher. The suitable installation files of the DirectX libraries are
locate on the attache installation CD. Proper DirectX library shoul be
alrea y installe un er Win ows XP an no up ate shoul be necessary.
To install the recor er an its software please follow below steps. In case
of L4NET recor er start from step E).
A) Insert FonTel installation isk into CD rive.
B) Plug one (an only one) of FonTel recor ers into PC USB port (or USB
hub connecte to the PC). Win ows shoul shortly etect new evice
an start its river installation.
C) Follow the Found New Hardware Wizard steps:

D) Install FonTel application. If installation has not starte automatically
then run FonTelNNNInstall.exe from installation CD (NNN is the
application version number).
E) Run FonTel application an configure it (by the first run a FonTel
configuration wizar will gui e you through the configuration process).
F) Connect telephone cables appropriately to particular recor er mo el
gui elines (look below).

2.2. Installing FonTel L1USB / L2USB / L4USB recorder
FonTel LxUSB recor ers are connecte to the phone lines parallel to the
phone. Every input of the recor er numbere from 1 to 4 is connecte to
consecutive phone lines, for which the call recor ing shall be performe
an which is connecte parallel to the phone.

If there is no socket that allows a simultaneous connection of the recor er
an the phone to the same line, a regular phone one plug an ouble
output splitter can be use . The plug is place in the phone socket, an

The recor er to the PC connection is escribe in Drivers and software
installation.
2.3. Installing FonTel ISDN recorder
FonTel ISDN recor er is connecte to the network terminator NT1 (S0
interface) similarly to an ISDN telephone. NT1 network terminator has at
least 2 outputs for connecting, for example, two ISDN telephones. If any
of the sockets is available, the recor er's NT input can be connecte to it.
If all of the sockets are in use, one of the connecte evices shall be
plugge out, the recor er (NT) is place instea , an the plugge -out
evice is connecte to the recor er's T socket.
The recor er's NT an T sockets are internally connecte – they can be
use alternatively.
PL AS NOT : The ISDN recor er oes not recor calls for analog
phones connecte to NT1 network terminator via an a/b interface. If
necessary, replace the analog phones with ISDN phones or use FonTel
LxUSB for analog recor ing.

FonTel L4NET recor er is connecte to the phone lines parallel to the
phone. Every input of the recor er name from L1 to L4 is connecte to
consecutive phone lines, for which the call recor ing shall be performe .
