The safety of the operator and those people that may come into contact with the equipment is of great
importance to Wm. W. Meyer & Sons, Inc. (“Meyer”) The decals, shields, guards and other protecve
features designed, furnished or recommended for this machine are there for your protecon.
BEFORE aempng to install, operate or perform maintenance on this Equipment READ carefully and
UNDERSTAND all safety instrucons contained in this set of Instrucons in addion to all applicable
government safety/health laws and regulaons and generally recognized industrial standards. The
operaon and maintenance of this equipment should be restricted to only those personnel trained in
its use. Consult Factory for the availability of manuals in other languages.
Operaon, Installaon and Maintenance personnel should READ carefully and UNDERSTAND the
secons of this Instrucon Manual relevant to the work they are performing. The various precauons
and recommendaons detailed within this manual are not necessarily all inclusive. These instrucons
are intended to provide general safety and operaonal guidance relang to typical uses with which
Meyer is familiar. Addional informaon may be provided that pertain to your specic piece of
equipment upon request.
1-1 GENERAL
1. Equipment is to be operated by trained qualied personnel only.
2. Always read and follow the operang and safety procedures.
3. Do not operate without all guards and safety equipment installed in the proper locaon and in
working order.
4. Do not stand close/near to the inlet, inlet hose, discharge/out, discharge hose, or discharge
collecon bags while the unit is starng, running, or shung down.
5. Do not disable any safety features. They are there for your protecon.

6. Always use qualied personnel when repairing or maintaining the equipment.
7. This equipment must be used only for the purpose for which it was intended. Any other use
will void the warranty and could cause bodily injury to the operator and costly damage to the
equipment.
8. If a malfuncon should occur, turn the machine o immediately and correct the problem, before
restarng the machine.
9. Do not leave the equipment unaended while it is running.
10. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry when operang this equipment. Long hair should be conned
by a hat or a hair net.
11. Do not operate under the inuence of alcohol or drugs.

1. Limit the operaon only to those personnel trained in the proper use and operaon of the
machinery.
2. Never operate the machine without proper venlaon.
3. Keep all clothing and your body away from the rotang equipment.
4. Obey all safety labels and instrucons axed to the machine.
5. Never run the machine speed faster than the factory sengs.

The following safety labels shown are axed to your equipment. A Safery Supplement Data sheet is
packed with this manual.
CAUTION: If you have received a unit without axed labels if labels fall o or are damaged,
contact Wm. W. Meyer & Sons immediately at 800-963-4458 to obtain replacements at no
charge prior to use or maintenance.

3-1 RECEIVING YOUR VACUUM
Immediately check the condion of your new vacuum as received. The machine was shipped in perfect
condion and should arrive the same way. If there are any visible problems, mark them on the Bill Of
Lading that the carrier has and call his oce immediately before the driver leaves your premises. As
sympathec as we are to any damages or shortages that occur in shipping Wm. Meyer and Sons has no
legal recourse for such claims. Title to your machine was transferred to the carrier as soon as it le our
dock. However, please let us know by phone and wring about any problems so that we can assist you
with immediate replacement parts or informaon.
3-2 UNCRATING
Carefully remove all of the packing materials and check the parts against the Packing List. Your vacuum
was test-run and shipped with all uids at the proper levels. Check them now and top o as required.
Fill the gas tank. Your new vacuum is now ready for operaon.
WARNING: DO NOT OVERFILL THE GAS TANK. ALLOW ROOM FOR EXPANSION OF THE FUEL.
DO NOT LET THE FUEL LINE COME IN CONTACT WITH THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. ALLOW ENGINE
TO COOL BEFORE REFILLING GAS TANK ON THE VANTAGE-VAC MODEL.

APPLICATION - INTENT USE OF EQUIPMENT
1. The Meyer line of vacuums is designed to safely and easily remove materials.
2. The following chart lists the uses for which the vacuum models were intended.
WARNING: This equipment must be used only for the purpose for which it was intended.
Any other use will void the warranty and could cause bodily injury to the operator and costly
damage to the equipment.

WARNING: AT ALL TIMES KEEP YOUR HANDS, CLOTHING, ETC. AWAY FROM THE INLET AND
DISCHARGE OF YOUR VACUUM.
WARNING: STAY CLEAR OF OUTLET AND SURROUNDING AREA WHEN OPERATING.
Pressurized gas and material leaving outlet can cause severe injury or death if personnel are struck.
Rotang fan blades inside can crush or cut.
Never operate without collecon device securely connected to outlet.
1. Place your equipment on a level surface. Posion it so the lter bag will not be blown by the wind
and come in contact with the exhaust system. Prevent the vacuum from moving. If your model is
equipment with a wheel locking device, engage it.
2. Aach the collecon bag, hose or other discharge device. You may also aach a hose to the
discharge in place of a lter bag.
3. Aach the hose to the inlet of the vacuum using the clamp provided.
4. Addional hose lengths may then be aached to the inlet hose using hose connectors and clamps.
Note: The vacuum will funcon beer with less hose.
5. Aach the fuel tank to the engine and open the vent on the gas tank. NOTE: The VANTAGE-VAC has
an aached tank.
WARNING: DO NOT OVERFILL THE GAS TANK. ALLOW ROOM FOR EXPANSION OF THE FUEL.

6. Refer to the engine manual for the correct starng procedures for the engine. Start the engine.
7. Your unit is now ready for service.
REMEMBER SAFETY FIRST!!!!!!
1. When not using the vacuum move the throle to the slow posion.
2. Do not stand close/near to either the inlet, inlet hose, discharge/out, discharge hose, or discharge
collecon bags while the unit is starng, running, or shung down.
3. At all mes, protect yourself. There is always the possibility of material or foreign objects passing
through the equipment.

SHUT DOWN
1. Move the throle to the slow posion. Run the machine for approximately 5 minutes.
2. Turn the engine o.
3. Remove the bag.
4. Disconnect the hose.
CAUTION: Do not remove any inlet or discharge aachment unl the vacuum has come to a
complete stop.

SHUT DOWN
1. ENGINE: Brush o daily (or more oen) the insulaon or dust that may have collected on the
cooling fan grate. Refer to the aached engine manual for other engine servicing.
2. BATTERY: The baery provided with your equipment is of the lead acid type. The baery cables
should be checked daily for corrosion and ghtness.
3. FAN HOUSING AND WHEEL: During the normal use of your vacuum, no maintenance is required on
the fan wheel or housing.
If a problem, noise, or vibraon should occur stop the equipment immediately!! Contact the factory as
soon as possible. Do not operate this equipment unl it has been thoroughly checked by the factory or
factory authorized representave.
CAUTION: The fan wheel assembly has been balanced at the factory. Noises or vibraons
coming from the fan indicate that for some reason the fan wheel has become out of balance.
The fan assembly is rotang at nearly 3600 rpm. In an out of balance situaon the possibility
of damage to the engine, fan wheel or fan housing due to the fan wheel exploding in the
housing is extremely great if allowed to connue. SHUT DOWN the vacuum immediately. Failure to do
so could lead to serious injury or death.
Do not replace the factory fan with any other fan other than the factory approved replacement.
