If any of these items are missi ng, immediatel y inf orm us, or o ur autorized
dealer where you p urchased your dete ctor.
Asse mblin g the SL 2006AM is si mple and you don’t need an y special tools. Just
mount the search coil on the lower pole assembly, con nect the pole assemb lies
together, adjust the pole length, wrap the excess cable around the pole and plug
the cable into the control unit. Finally a djust search coil angle to your
pref erence and you are read y.
NOTE: Do not all ow the cable to f lop loosel y over the search coil. Since the
detector is sensitive enough to „ see“ the tin y wires in t he cable, a floppy cable
can cause false sig nals as the search coil senses the moving wires.

CONTROLS: The SL2006AM control panel:
“GROUND BAL ANCE” – eli minates influence of the soil
Switch “Ground balance” – turns on and off automatic ground bala nce.
“DISCR” – regulates degree of elimin ation of iron objec ts.
“THRES HOLD” – used for adjusting sound level and regulates depth of.
“Battery low ” – blinking lig ht indicator. Indicate s lowe r tension of batteries
Jack “Phones” – used for head phones
“ON / VOLUME ” – switches on the detector and adjust sound level
1. Assembling of the device:
The bearing rod is assembled by inserting of the lower part into the upper one. At that one
has to pay attention to not push inwards the plastic ring situated in the fixing clamp. Choose the
desired length of the whole construction and the fixing clamp is tightened between both parts of
the bearing rod. The lower part of the bearing rod is put with the opening between the ears of the
coil and the plastic bolt is tightened by choosing the position of the coil to be parallel to the
ground surface. Don't over-tighten the plastic bolt and nut to not damage the threading of the bolt!
The coil cable is wind up tightly around the bearing rod and is switched to the terminal of the
monitor unit. Upon switching of the cable of the coil to the monitor unit, tighten the well the metal
nut of the coupling to the terminal of the box. Upon switching off, unscrew the nut completely
and pull out the coupling without pulling or twisting the cable of the coil. This way, you will
prevent the cable and the conductors in it from breakdown or short circuit.
The searching coil is approached to the surface of earth by pa ying attention to
avoid prese nce of metals wit hin its range.
4
2. Sw itch on and w ork w ith SL2006AM.
1. Turn the “ ON / VOLUME” knob to “ON” and adjus t pref erenced vo lume of
sound.
2. Setting the “THRESHOLD” - While holding the d etector a few feet above
ground and awa y from an y metal o bject, slowly turn th e “THRESHOLD” knob
until you hear a ver y slight audio ton e through the spea ker or headphones. This
is the optimum set-point for the “THRESHO LD”. A light “buzz” adjustment is
reco mmende d to in sure optimum dept h and maxi mum pe rformance.
As “THRESH OLD” is in low position, as lo w is se nsitivit y. Too lo w of a
threshold setting ma y cause ver y weak signals to not be heard. Too high of a
threshold setting m ay cause ope rating instabilit y.
3. You can work in manual or in automat ic “GR OUND BALANC E” regim e:
- In manual gr ound bala nce regime: set the switch “Ground balance” in
position “MANUAL”
Search for and select a clear piece of ground or sand t hat does not contain an y
metallic targets. With the coil elev ated at least waist high and away from an y
metallic target, slowl y adjust the THRESHOLD contr ol until a very f aint audio
threshold s ignal is heard.
Lower the search coil to with in one-inch of the ground surface while listening
to the threshold audio signal. If the threshold signal is high tone, the
“GROUND BAL ANCE” contr ol needs to be decreased (rotate counter
clockwise). If the threshol d sig nal is low tone, the “GROUN D BALANCE”
control need s to be increased (r otate clockwise). Keep repeating this step until
threshold si gnal is the same wit hin one-inch of the ground as it is i n the air.
Once this is accomplished, the detector is properl y ground balanced.
When the gro und mineralization is r ejected, the detector can see deeper t argets,
and is less suscept ible to grou nd interf erence.
While balancing t he detector, you have to be sure there are no metal objects
around the se arch coil. If it seems diff icult or impossible to get little change in
the stead y threshold as the coil is l owered, you may be attemp ting to t one on
5
top of a peace of metal. Move to a different spot on the ground and repeat
balancing.
2 - 20cm.

Fig. 1
-In automatic ground balance regime: set the switch “Ground balance”
in position “AUT O”
The ,,GROUND BALANCE” knob do not have to be turned on at that time!! If
you co me upon non-ferrous metals /gold, silver, copper, bronze/ a low- toned
sound can be heard ; and if you co me upon f errous metals a high sound is heard.
Without the ability to cancel ground mineraliz ation, a metal detector could
respond to mineralization as if it where a good tar get.
Alwa ys tr y to balanced in “MANUAL” regi me, and if it seem diff icult or
impossibl e to get little change in a steady threshold as coil is lowered, we
reco mmend use “AUTO” regi me. Use “AUTO” ,,GR OUND B ALAN CE ” when
you find yourself in a situation that does not allow “MANUAL” ,,GROUND
BALANCE” to be adjusted correctl y.
The ground conditions are reall y ba d with mineralized ground, hot rocks and
iron trash, so your sweep spee d must be reduced f or best results.
“AUTO” is recommended when searching in wet salt sand too.
N O T E : Und er so me sev ere mineral condition s gro und balancing ma y not be
possible. The best result you will get if searching when the soil is dry.

SL2006AM working in dynamic reg ime - searching metal objects is ma de by
moving search coil toward ground surf ace – f ig.2 , f ig.3
Wrong Correct
Fig.3
The search coil should not touch the ground during your sweep. The pole length
should be adjusted to allow this without having to lif t the detector with your
elbow or shoulder. The searc h coil should rest about one inch above the g round
while you are standing erect. The angle of the search coil should allo w the
bottom to be parall el to the ground.
3. “DISCR” is used to eliminate a ny target tha t you do not want the
detector to audibl y respond to.
If you need to e liminate more ferrous metals over th e ground, the “DISCR”
control must be set in a position ov er “Rings” or “Coins”. If you come upon
non-ferrous metals /gold, silver, copper, bronze/ a high sound can be heard ; and
if you come upon ferrous metal a low sound is heard. If the “DISCR” cont rol is
in “Iron” position, every ferrous obj ect will be signalized with high tone (like
non – ferrous). If the soil is t oo mineralized we recommend the “Foil” posi tion.
4. Pinpointing a T arget
A good method for pinpointing is "X-ing" the target with the search coil.
Remember that the target's response sound is al wa ys gre atest when t he target is
directly under the center of the search coil. To "X" a t arget, sweep the s earch
coil over the ta rge t from side to side and then from front to back until yo u can
identify the center of the X — the sp ot on the ground where the targ et response
sound is the great est. Pinpointi ng a target is probabl y best done b y "X-i ng" as
well. Re me mber th at the detect or wil l beep just as the target passes under the
center of the search coil. Slow ing the sweep speed dow n will help yo u pick out
7
the center of the X, but reme mber t hat the sear ch coil must alw a ys be m oving
slightly for target detection.
Another eas y method is to sweep the coil f rom side to side across the target in
ver y sho rt sweeps as you slowly move f orward and bac kward across the t arget.
Slow down th e sweep rate and s hort en the s weeps unt il you just barely get a
response at one spot. The target will be directl y be low the coil center at this
response time – fig.4
fig.4
5. The det ection depth depends o n the following:
-size, shape and location of the object in the soil. The bigger the reflecting
surf ace of the object the deeper it is t o be found;
-soil composition and mineralization level – the drier and more homogeneous
the soil the easier it will be to ada pt the device and for the device to detect
deeper. Under stones, dr y sand or in cla y ute nsil, metal s are easier to be found
than in freshly dug out or damp soil.
-the longer the object has bee n in the soil the easier it will be to be f oun d as a
result of the good contact wit h the so il.
-type of detecting coil. The bigger th e diameter of the coil the deeper it will be
able to detect meta ls.
-operator's experience and skil ls.
You can do field tests by yourself using the device if you bury dif ferent metal
objects in diff erent depth but yo u should leave th em in the ground for at least
3 mo nths. Thus the test results will be more reliable. You should mind the soil
8
type and the moisture composition in it. Best results ar e received when th e soil
is dr y.
To reduc e false signals w hen s earching in a ve ry trash y ground, scan o nly a
small area at a time using slow, short overlapping sweeps.
Keep the searc h coil moving at a comf ortable rate. If you walk too fas t, you
can’t overlap your s sweeps and you will mi ss a lot of ground. Also if you sweep
too fast, yo u will l ose sensitivit y and miss the d eep targ ets
6. Using a head phone
You should alwa ys use a h eadphone whenever yo u search with your metal
detector. Headpho ne is especially us eful in nois y are a, such us the beach and
rear cit y area. It enhances audio pe rception b y bringing the sound dir ectly to
your to your ears while masking “ outside” noise int erf erences. You shell be
amazed at how much be tter yo u can hear the d etector signals w ith the
headphone than yo u can with the speaker alone. Using head phones also save
batter y power.
To connect a head phone to the detector, insert the headphone jack into the
“Phones” on the front panel.
NOTE: The detector internal sp eak er will be disc on nected when you
connect a headpho ne.
7. Charging storage batteries and indications for their status.
If a light “Low battery ” appears while using th e detector that means you
have to stop using it and recharge the batteries as f ollows: put the jack of the
charge device i nto “CHARG E” nest and place the device into electric net of
220V.
The charging is a uto matic and begins when the device is SWI TCHED
OFF and yo u plug the charger into the charging j ack of the back panel o f the
device. The jack cage is “-” and the middle ter minal is “+”.
Charging depending on the level of discharge of the batteries. It’s not necessar y
to keep eye s on charge device, beca use it is supplied with automatic turn off
9
and batteries couldn’t be damaged no ma tter how long the y will sta y in the
charge device. The charging continue s till the mo ment when the batteries reach
their maximu m capacity When reach ing their full capacit y the red light on the
charger will not li ght any more.
Wh en the y are read y pull the device out of the electric net and unplu g the jack
out of the “CHAR GE”
NOTE: Don’t unplug the charger i f charge process is not fini shed.
Alw ays charge device's storage batteries ONLY with the paired chargers to
it. Thus y ou w ill prevent da mages or confusio n betw een “+ ” and “-” because
the use of other c hargers or ad aptors may lead to ir retrievable da ma ges in
the batteries!
8. Possibl e proble ms durin g exploit ation of “ SL200 6AM”:
1.When sw itching it on you can not h ear a sound, no indication that the
device is s witched on. It migh t indica te f or:
-storage batteries are dead (usually af ter a long period of time). Charge the
batteries with the charger. If the proble m is not s olved contact the service-
station (office) of the compan y manu facturer or the local distributor.
-the accumulator b lock consists of 10 ele ments 1 ,2V / 1100 mAh connected in
series. If just one of them is da maged the connection between them will be
destro yed and practically the d evice will be left without power suppl y.
2.The wor king depth is significantly shallower than the normal. It might
indicate for:
-storage batteries could be dead – charge the batteries with the automatic
charger. If you can not solve the problem contac t the service-station (of fice) of
the co mpany manufacturer or the local distributor.
3.During detecti on the device does not work stable, makes stra nge sounds
which are not due t o a metal detection. It might indicate f or:
-irregular elec tromagnetic external interruptions.
10
-problems with the aerial cable – di sconnected conductor, a shot circ uit or bad
connection in the coupling.
It is possible after continuance work and man y ti mes of switching on and
off the cable's coupling to the jack box the conta ct between the m to be
destro yed. There are 2 terminal s with sightholes in th e jack of the back panel
of the device. Put something sharp like a kn ife or a screwdriver in the
sightholes and ma ke them wider. Thus the coupling will fit better into the jack
which wi ll improve the contact bet ween them. It is possible in the pre sen ce of
some kind of dirt y like d ust o r moisture to clean the ter minals with c otton -wool
and alco hol. If you can not solve the proble m con tact the servic e-s tation
(off ice) of the company manufacturer or the local distrib utor.
4.The device works onl y wit h headset and when work ing with amplifier
you can no t hear a sound. Usually that happ ens w hen the headset j ack is
damaged. In that case contact the service-station (office) of the compan y
ma nuf acturer or the local distributor to change th e jack.
5.Batteries charge quickl y and af ter that during t he wor king process the y
go dead quickl y. Usuall y that happ ens when the batt eries are really old and
need replacement . Contact the service-station (office) of the comp an y
ma nuf acturer or the local distributor f or change of the storage batteries.
The Manufacturer (trader) does not bear any responsibility if you use the device in violation of
the law, on archeological or forbidden for search places as well as on private property without
the knowledge or the permission of the owner.
Protect the environment and always fill back in the holes you have dugged out!
9. GUARANTEE
The detector SL2006AM is off ered with 2 years of guarantee of electronics,
labor and ma teria ls used, for harms which are not caused on purpose or
irresponsib ly.
We can upkeep your device af ter peri od of guarantee if it is necessary.
11
10. Protecti ng your invest me nt
Often detectorists are disappointed when their new detector sl owl y beco me s
less and less resp onsive an d see ms to have lost so me of its original peak
perf ormance. You can help avoid this f rom happening to yo ur detector by
following these basic care and protection guidel ines:
Oper ate your detector exactly as reco mmended in t his Operator Instruction
Manual.
The search co il cable is hard-wired to the search coil and protected by a
strain relief . It is ver y important tha t the strain relief rema ins in tact and should
never be adj usted or tampered with.
Keep cables pr operl y wound around the pole ste ms and protect them during
use. Flopp y, pi nched, or ca bles th at become snagge d during use ma y short,
causing errat ic noi ses or unne cessary replacement of the search coil.
Sweep the search coil caref ull y, especiall y when using around rock s and
building f oundations. Avoid hitting t he search coil against hard, solid objects
and surfaces.
Keep your searc h coil slight ly off of the ground during the sweep, especially
when using in gravel or hard, r ock y dirt.
Remove and clean out scuf f covers periodically to a void buildup of
mi neralized dirt particles which will aff ect perf ormance.
The search coil is waterproof and can be submerged in either fresh or salt
water. After the search coil is used in salt water, rinse it and the lower ste m
asse mbly well wit h f resh water to pre vent corrosi on of the metal parts.
The search coil is waterproof but the electronics are not , so always prevent
any moistu re or w ater f rom ent ering the control housi ng and never allow the
cable connect or to become sub merged in water.
If working in or near w ater, or if there is a po ssibility of rain, use a
protective weather resistant pouch or plastic ba g to co ver the contr ol hou sing.
Make sure it can "breathe" in order to ensure
against con densation buildup inside.
12
After each u se, clean the de tector with a soft cloth to remove dust, moisture,
or other conta mina nts.
When transporting the detector in a car during hot weather, store i t on the
floor of the passenger compa rtmen t if possible. Using a carry bag gives
additional prot ecti on. In an y cas e, never allow the detector to roll around
unprotected in the trunk or back of a pickup truc k.
Protect yo ur de tector from dust, moisture, and ext reme te mperatures during
storage.
Treat your detector as you would a ny sensitive electronic instru men t. Though
ruggedly constructed and designed to withstand the demands of normal tre asure
hunting, proper care is essentia l.
