CARE
AND STORAGE
o lf the lensbecomes
dirty,
clean it gentlywith a lens brush.
lf necessary,moisten a sheet of lenstissue with one drop of
lens-cleaning
fluid and gently wipe the lens. Nevertouch
the lenssurface
with your fingers.
o Never use alcohol or chemical solvents on the camera
body. lf it isdirty, wipe itgentlywith a soft, clean,drycloth.
o Do not subject
the camerato shock,
high heat or humidity.
o This camera is designed
for use between -10 and 40oC
(14 to 104"F.). Do not transferthe camera
directly
from an
extremely coldto warm area,since condensation may form
insideand preventnormal operation.
o Do not let the camera get wet.
o Do not let the camera come in contact with sand,salt or
other
grit.
o When not in use, keep the camera in a cool,
dry place
away from dust and chemicals. For
extended
storage,
place
the camerain an airtight
container
with a drying
agentsuch
as
silica
gel.
o Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the camera
yourseff.
o Thiscamera's circuitry may switch off,even when a battery
with sufficient power is installed. To resume operation,
removethe batteryand installitagain.

BATTERIES
Use two ArA-si2s
alkaline or carbon-zinc
batteries.Foroptimumperformance,
alkaline
cells are recommended. Open the battery-
chamber
cover
(A),
and insert
the batteries
as
indicated
onthe inside
ofthe battery-chamber
covgt-(9)Jo-close-the cover, press it down,
then push it back to the original position
firmly.
o The camerawill not operate
without bat-
terres.
The following types of batteries
are compat-
ible with this product: 2 AA-5i2s alkaline-
manganese
batteries
or2 ArA-si7s
carbon-zinc
batteries.

2. LOADING
FILM

o Load
film in subdued
light
orshade.
1. Makesurethe framecounter
is at S and
slidefhe back=coverreleace
down to open the
back
cover
(C).
2. Insert
the
filmcartridge
into
thefilmchamber
(D).
3. Extend
the tip of the film over
the take-up
drumand
align
ittothe
film-leader
index.
To
prevent
film-loading
error,
makesure
thefilm
tip is alignedwith the film-leader index ex-
actly(E).
o The film must be positioned between the
film guide rails. Otherwise, film transport
error may occur.
o lf the film tip extends beyond the red
mark, gently push the excess
film back into
the film cartridge.
4. Close
the back
cover.
5. Slide the main switch to open the lens
cover,and press the shutter-release
button
threeor four times until "1" appears
in the
frame counter
(F). The safe-load
signal
will
turn if
the
film iscorrectly
loaded.
3. TAKING
PICTURES
1.Slide the main switch to open the lens
cover
(G).
2. Make sure your subject is within the
camera's
focusing
range
(H).
3. Hold
the camera
steadily,
and makesure
that your fingersor the camerastrapdo not
cover
the lens,
flash,
ormeter
window. When
taking vertically-framed
pictures, hold the
camera
so
thattheflashison top.
4. Compose
your
picture.lfyouareusing
AF
101
R,center
the
focus
frame
onyour
subject
(t).
5. Press
the shutter-release
button partway
down, then pressall-the-waydown to take
thepicture
(J).
o Waitforthegreen flash
lamp
toglowbefore
youtake
the pictures
(K).
o When the shutter-release
button
ispressed
partway down, the red-eye-reduction
lamp
glows
to reduce
red-eye
inflash
pictures
(L).
i tne film automatically
advances
to the next
f
rame.
o When you have finishedtaking pictures,
close
the lens cover. This protectsthe lens
andprevents
accidental
exposure.

o After you have
takenthe numberof frames
indicated
on the film cartridge
(eg.
24 frames
ona24 exposureroll offilm),
youmust rewind
the film. Otherwise, additional
pictures
will
overlap
inthe lastframe.
4. FLASH
SWITCH
Theflash
switchhas three
positions.
Automatic
The camera
automaticallyfiresthe flashwhen-
ever
necessary
(M).
Manual Fill-Flash
This mode is effective
to balancethe exposureof
your subject with the relatively
brighter back-
ground. To usemanual
fill-flash,
slidethe flash
switch to , and hold it while you take the
picture
(N).
Flash
Cancel
When you're photographing
twilight scenesor
distant
subjectsthat are beyond
the flash range,
cancel
the flash. To cancelthe flash,
slidethe
flash
switchto O andhold
itwhileyou
takethe
picture
(O).
o Make sure your subject is within the flash
rangelisted
below.
5. REWIND
1.Slidethe rewind
switch
inthedirectionshown
to start rewinding. The rewind switch will lock
and the frame countercountsbackwards
during
rewind
(P).
2. When rewindingiscomplete,
the motor
shuts
off andthe framecounter shows "S". Open
the
backcoverandremove thefilm.
o lfthe frame
countershowsanythingother
than
"S" when the rewind motor stops, DO NOT
OPEN THE BACK COVER. Replace
the bat-
teries, slide the rewind switch, and wait until
rewind
is
completebeforeopeningtheback
cover.
o After you havetaken the last picture,rewind
thefilmandturn offthecamerato prevent
battery
drain.
o Never
pull
thefilm out of the camera. Always
useautomatic
rewind.

Battery Replacement
Remove
the battery
cover
by
turning the screw with a
small screwdriver (U). Take out the old battery and
insert
a fresh one,with the (+)
sideup as indicated
on
the battery chamber cover (V). Insert the cover into
place
and fastenwith the screw (W). Followingbat-
tery replacement,
resetthe date and time.
Care and Storage
o Gently pressthe center ofthe button. Pressing
the
edge with a sharp object may cause the button to
stick.
o This unit is designed for use between 4O and OoC
(104 and 32"C). At temperatures above or below
this, the display and imprinted data may cause the
displayto temporary blacken.
