After installation work has been completed, explain the “Safety Precautions,” use,
and maintenance of the unit to the customer according to the information in the
Operation Manual and perform the test run to ensure normal operation. Both the
Installation Manual and Operation Manual must be given to the user for keeping.
These manuals must be passed on to subsequent users.

• Theunitmustnotbeinstalledbytheuser.Askadealeroranauthorized
techniciantoinstalltheunit.Iftheunitisinstalledincorrectly,waterleak-
age,electricshock,orremayresult.
• Forinstallationwork,followtheinstructionsintheInstallationManualand
usetoolsandpipecomponentsspecicallymadeforusewithR410Are-
frigerant.TheR410ArefrigerantintheHFCsystemispressurized1.6times
thepressureofusualrefrigerants.Ifpipecomponentsnotdesignedfor
R410Arefrigerantareusedandtheunitisnotinstalledcorrectly,thepipes
mayburstandcausedamageorinjuries.Inaddition,waterleakage,elec-
tricshock,orremayresult.
• Theunitmustbeinstalledaccordingtotheinstructionsinordertomini-
mizetheriskofdamagefromearthquakes,typhoons,orstrongwinds.An
incorrectlyinstalledunitmayfalldownandcausedamageorinjuries.
• Theunit mustbesecurelyinstalled onastructurethatcansustainits
weight.Iftheunitismountedonanunstablestructure,itmayfalldown
andcausedamageorinjuries.
• Iftheheatpumpunitisinstalledinasmallroom,measuresmustbetaken
topreventtherefrigerantconcentrationintheroomfromexceedingthe
safetylimitintheeventofrefrigerantleakage.Consultadealerregarding
theappropriatemeasurestopreventtheallowableconcentrationfrombe-
ingexceeded.Shouldtherefrigerantleakandcausetheconcentrationlimit
tobeexceeded,hazardsduetolackofoxygenintheroommayresult.
• Ventilatetheroomifrefrigerantleaksduringoperation.Ifrefrigerantcomes
intocontactwithaame,poisonousgaseswillbereleased.
• Allelectricworkmustbeperformedbyaqualiedtechnicianaccordingto
localregulationsandtheinstructionsgiveninthismanual.Theunitsmust
bepoweredbydedicatedpowerlinesandthecorrectvoltageandcircuit
breakersmustbeused.Powerlineswithinsufcientcapacityorincorrect
electricalworkmayresultinelectricshockorre.
• UseC1220copper phosphorus,forcopperand copperalloyseamless
pipes,toconnecttherefrigerantpipes.Ifthepipesarenotconnectedcor-
rectly,theunitwillnotbeproperlygroundedandelectricshockmayresult.
• Useonlyspeciedcablesforwiring.Thewiringconnectionsmustbemade
securelywithnotensionappliedontheterminalconnections.Also,never
splicethecablesforwiring(unlessotherwiseindicatedinthisdocument).
Failuretoobservetheseinstructionsmayresultinoverheatingorare.
• Theterminalblockcoverpaneloftheoutdoorunitmustbermlyattached.
Ifthecoverpanelismountedincorrectlyanddustandmoistureenterthe
unit,electricshockorremayresult.
• Wheninstallingorrelocating,orservicingtheheatpumpunit,useonlythe
speciedrefrigerant(R410A)tochargetherefrigerantlines.Donotmixit
withanyotherrefrigerantanddonotallowairtoremaininthelines.
Ifairismixedwiththerefrigerant,thenitcanbethecauseofabnormalhighpres-
sureintherefrigerantline,andmayresultinanexplosionandotherhazards.
Theuseofanyrefrigerantotherthanthatspeciedforthesystemwillcause
mechanicalfailureorsystemmalfunctionorunitbreakdown.Intheworst
case, this could lead to a serious impediment to securing product safety.
• UseonlyaccessoriesauthorizedbyMitsubishiElectricandaskadealer
oranauthorizedtechniciantoinstallthem.Ifaccessoriesareincorrectly
installed,waterleakage,electricshock,orremayresult.
• Donotaltertheunit.Consultadealerforrepairs.Ifalterationsorrepairsare
notperformedcorrectly,waterleakage,electricshock,orremayresult.
• Theusershouldneverattempttorepairtheunitortransferittoanother
location.Iftheunitisinstalledincorrectly,waterleakage,electricshock,
orremayresult.Iftheheatpumpunitmustberepairedormoved,aska
dealeroranauthorizedtechnician.
• Afterinstallationhasbeencompleted,checkforrefrigerantleaks.Ifrefrig-
erantleaksintotheroomandcomesintocontactwiththeameofaheater
orportablecookingrange,poisonousgaseswillbereleased.
1.1. Before installation

• Donotusetheunitinanunusualenvironment.Iftheheatpumpunitis
installedinareasexposedtosteam,volatileoil(includingmachineoil),or
sulfuricgas,areasexposedtohighsaltcontentsuchastheseaside,or
areaswheretheunitwillbecoveredbysnow,theperformancecanbesig-
nicantlyreducedandtheinternalpartscanbedamaged.
• Donotinstalltheunitwherecombustiblegasesmayleak,beproduced,
ow,oraccumulate.Ifcombustiblegasaccumulatesaroundtheunit,re
orexplosionmayresult.

• The outdoor unit produces condensation during the heating operation.

• Wheninstallingtheunitinahospitalorcommunicationsoffice,bepre-
paredfornoiseandelectronicinterference.Inverters,homeappliances,
high-frequencymedicalequipment,andradiocommunicationsequipment
cancausetheheatpumpunittomalfunctionorbreakdown.Theheatpump
unitmayalsoaffectmedicalequipment,disturbingmedicalcare,andcom-
municationsequipment,harmingthescreendisplayquality.
