WARNINGS REGARDING OF SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM
(sRS) EQUIPPED VEHICLES
WARNING!
(1) lmproper service or maintenance of any component of the SRS, or any SR$related component,
can lead to personal injury or death to service personnel (from inadvertent firing of the air
bag) or to the driver (from rendering the SRS inoperative).
(2) lf it is possible that the SRS components are subiected to heat o_ve1 S!]Q L299:f) in baking
or in drying after painting, remove the SRS component! (air bag module, SRS-ECU) beforehand.
(3) Service or maintenance of any SRS component or SRS-related component must be performed
only at an authorized MITSUBISHI dealer.
(4) MITSUBISHI dealer personnel must thoroughly review this manual, and especially its GROUP
528 - Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), before beginning any service or maintenance
of any component of the SRS or any SRS-related component.

OUTLINE OF CHANGE
o The connector for the mixture adjusting screw (variable resistor) has been changed. The following
maintenance service points which are different from previous vehicles have been established to
correspond to this.

SENSOR INSPECTION
(1) Disconnect the variable resistor connector.
(2) Use a circuit tester to measure the resistance between
terminal O and terminal @ of the variable resistor
connector.
Standardvalue:4-6kO
Next, connect the circuit tester between terminal O and
terminal @.
Check if the resistance changes smoothly when the
adjusting screw is rotated by the special tool (MAS driver).
Inspect the body for cracks or other damage.
lf any defect is found, replace the variable resistor as
an assembly.

An air conditioning control panel and ECU assembly which integrates the air conditioning control panel
and the ECU has been adopted. The following items have been changed to correspond to this.

eadh circuil.

Blend air damper motor potentiometer check
OK:5V
Check the following connector: C-97
Check the following connector: C-l4
Measure at the A/C-ECU connector C-97.
. Connect the connector.
o Blend air damper position: MAX.HOT
. Voltage between terminal (5) and body earth
OK: 4.7 - 5.0 V
Gheck the harness between the blend air damper potentiorn€tet
and the A/C-ECU, and repair if necessary.
Check the harness between the blend air damper potentiomoler
and the A/C-ECU.
Check the following connector: C-97
Measure at the blend air damper potentiometer connector C-14.
. Disconnect the connector, and measure at the harness
side conneclor.
. Voltage between terminal (4) and body earlh

potentiometer input circuit, or if there is an open circuit in the power circuil or
earth circuit.

Check the lollowing connector: C-15
Checkthe hamess between the mode selection damperpotentiome-
ter and the A/C-ECU, and repair if necessary.
