In order to use your new Moocall calving sensor you must rst
activate it online.
Go to www.moocall.com/register to complete activation.
If you do not have access to the internet, call us to activate your sensor.

If the sensor has not been activated, it will turn itself off immediately
after being turned on.
Step 1: Activate your
Moocall calving sensor
Step 2: Adjusting the rubber liner
The rubber liner can to be
cut to size depending on
the size of the tails on the
cows in your herd. For thin
tails, cut off both
segments, for medium tails
cut off one, and for thick
tails don’t cut at all.
If your herd has mixed tail thicknesses, contact Moocall to purchase
additional rubbers.

Step 3: Charging
To charge your Moocall calving sensor, ip away the rubber liner
to expose the charge cap catch, remove the charge cap and insert
charge cable as shown.
When charging is complete, replace the charge cap and t the liner
back around the charge cap.
DO NOT force the USB cable into the charging port of the sensor.
Step 4: Turning on sensor
To turn on, press and hold the
button for four seconds.
The light on the sensor will blink
through the colours then settle on
blue every 4-5 seconds, indicating
that the sensor is on and active.
Hold the button for ten seconds to power off.
IMPORTANT: Ensure the charge cap is dry before placing it back on
the sensor to be sure of a proper, waterproof seal.

The sensor will notify you when the battery level goes below 15%.

Step 5: Testing sensor
Please perform this test in the area the sensor will be used to ensure
network coverage is adequate for the sensor to function.
If you do not receive a message within ten minutes of performing this
test, contact Moocall customer support.
Should the sensor never settle on blinking blue and turn itself off
after it has been blinking multiple colours for a few minutes, you
either need to activate your sensor or you may have a mobile
network coverage issue in your area. Please contact Moocall.

The sensor should
start blinking green,
indicating that the
test is underway
If the green light doesn’t start blinking on the second press, ensure
that you’re making solid contact with the button and try again.
You will receive an SMS on all numbers connected with the sensor, an
email and a notication via the Moocall app if you have that installed.
Only press the button with your nger, do not use any tools as this
may damage the button and the electronics inside.

Place the sensor on the tail of
a cow close to calving.
The sensor should be placed
on the tail opposite the vulva.
Insert the toothed strap into
the ratchet.
Lift the paddle to pop
open the Moocall door.
Push paddle all the way
to the left until it clicks
open to loosen strap.

Close the ratchet and click the
door in place over it. Pull on the
loose end of the toothed strap
until the sensor is rm on the
tail of the cow.
Ensure the sensor is rm on the
tail by testing the t. The sensor
should be able to move side to
side, but not downward on the
tail. Adjust the tightness of the
strap as needed until a proper
t has been achieved.

NOTE: Please ensure that your rubber liner has been adjusted to
the size of your cow’s tail. Using the wrong sized rubber can lead to
discomfort for the animal and false warnings from the sensor.
IMPORTANT! DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!
If the sensor is placed on the tail too tight you will get false warnings
and you may cause permanent, irreversible damage to the cow!
Step 8: Checking t on the tail
Once the Moocall calving
sensor is placed on the tail,
please ensure the rubber
liner isn’t leaving the
toothed strap rubbing on
the tail or that the rubber
itself is bunched up or
overlaps the plastic housing
to create pinch points.

The Moocall Breedmanager app is available for Android and iOS
devices. Search for “Moocall” in your app store and install. Log in
to the app with the same username and password you use to access
your MyMoocall dashboard.
The app gives you access to the same functions you have via the
MyMoocall dashboard and much more: A herd management tool,
ringtone notications that makes your phone ring in addition to
texts, Q&A forums and more. And it’s all done over WiFi if the mobile
signal around you is weak or absent, ensuring you’ll never miss a
notication.

When you register your
Moocall sensor you will
choose your username and
password for the MyMoocall
dashboard. Here you can see
the status of all your sensors
in the left hand pane and all alerts sent from them in the center pane.
You can manage your phone numbers in the right hand pane and your
email alerts, time zone and language settings in the drop-down menu
from your username in the top right.

Step 9: Remove
Remove the sensor when it’s safe
to do so. Lift the paddle to open
the Moocall door and press the
paddle on the ratchet all the way
to the left to loosen the strap.
Step 10: Clean sensor
Clean gently with a dry brush or
a damp cloth. Always clean the
sensor after each calving.
NOTE: DO NOT submerge the sensor in water or other liquids!
WARNING! DO NOT CLEAN SENSOR WITHOUT CHARGE CAP IN PLACE
Step 11: Resetting sensor
After a calving event, press
the button for one second to
reset. The light will change
from solid red to blinking
blue and the sensor is now
ready to go on the next cow.
The sensor will automatically
reset after one hour if not
reset manually.
To turn the sensor off, press
and hold the power button
for ten seconds.

IMPORTANT!
The Moocall Sensor is designed to offer valuable assistance to farmers during
the calving season. It is not guaranteed to predict every single calving event.
Reasonable levels of direct or camera supervision should be maintained
during calving periods.
It is recommended that farmers use their own experience and knowledge of
their herd to ensure best performance. For example, if the sensor is tted
to a very mature cow who delivers early or the cow does not experience the
normal levels of distress or labour pains prior to calving the sensor may not
send an alert to the farmers mobile phone.
Please only tighten the sensor to the point where it is secure and will not fall
off the tail, if the sensor is overly tight it may cause discomfort to the animal
and this may lead to false text alerts.
If cow has not calved within four days of attaching the sensor to the tail
please remove unit from tail for 3-4 hours before reattaching again to avoid
discomfort to the animal.
Moocall calving sensors are capable of detecting early labour distress even
when this may not be visible to the farmer. Please regularly check and
supervise your cow after notications have been received.
Animal behaviour differs greatly from cow to cow. Moocall sensors are
expected to predict a very high percentage of calvings (approx. 95%).
Moocall Ltd do not take responsibility for animals lost or injured due to a
short notice text or no text notice being given.

To preserve the life of the battery and the longevity of the sensor,
after your calving season, charge the battery before putting the
sensor away.
