Introduction
Thank you for your purchase of the Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack.
Motorfist has collaborated with Alpride, manufacturer of the safest and most reliable
airbag system on the market. Alpride and Motorfist are committed to safe, dependable
designs and consistent, superior manufacturing quality.
This manual provides you with essential information about the function and
recommended use of the Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack. Read and understand this
manual carefully prior to use. Seek proper equipment training, avalanche safety
education and exercise sound judgment while using your Argo Avalanche Airbag
Backpack at all times.
Please contact Motorfist with questions regarding safety and use of this product.
Warning
Avalanches are lethal. People caught in avalanches will and do die. Avoid avalanches
whenever possible.
The Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack is an emergency safety device that, when
used correctly, is designed to increase your chances of survival in the event of an
avalanche by decreasing the likelihood of complete burial. However, the Argo
Avalanche Airbag Backpack will not prevent an avalanche from occurring and will
not guarantee your safety under any circumstances.
Avalanches are inherently dangerous and may pose a serious threat of severe
bodily injury or death. When traveling through avalanche terrain, the Argo
Avalanche Airbag Backpack should be used in conjunction with safety tools,
including but not limited to, an avalanche airbag, beacon, shovel, probe and
helmet. However, proper safety training and tools do not guarantee your safety,
therefore the Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack should not promote greater risk taking.
Motorfist is not responsible for injuries or death caused by an avalanche while
using the Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack. Failure to read and follow these
warnings can result in severe bodily injury or death.

Alpride Airbag Cartridges
Alpride Airbag Cartridges are based on lifejacket gas cylinder technology. Maintenance
is not required and cartridges are leak-proof certified. Only Alpride Airbag Cartridges
should be used with your Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack. Once the Alpride Airbag has
been deployed, the used cartridges must be replaced with a new set of cartridges.
Cartridges must be properly disposed of after each use, and are not refillable.
Cartridges must be handled with proper care by storing away from extreme
temperatures; heat exceeding 122°F (50°C) or cold below -22°F (-30°C). Avoid all
physical damage to the cartridge. Damage to cartridges by improper handling may lead
to the malfunction of your Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack, therefore damaged
cartridges must be replaced before use.
Cartridge Specifications:
• Working pressure of cartridge: 2,538 psi (17.5 MPa).
• Temperature range of cartridge: 122°F (50°C) to -22°F (-30°C) (use must be
limited to this temperature range).
• One cartridge of compressed argon; one cartridge of liquefied CO2 gas.
• Do not refill cartridges.
• Cartridges are designed for exclusive use with the Alpride Airbag System.
• If the weight of this gas cartridge is less than the minimum weight marked on
the gas cartridge, the cartridge should not be used.
Preparation – Equipment Check
Motorfist strongly recommends that you practice activating your Argo Avalanche Airbag
Backpack at least once per year to ensure proper operation, preparedness and
functionality in the event of an emergency. This involves removing the cartridges from
the system and testing the triggering mechanism using the handle.
Prior to use in the field, carefully inspect your Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack and all
of its components. Motorfist strongly recommends that you regularly inspect for damage
(i.e. tears, punctures, cracks, dents), including but not limited to the airbag, backpack,
inflator system, fabric cover, cartridges, safety straps, buckles and fasteners. Make sure

that the cartridges are full.
In the event of damage or doubt as to the dependability of your Argo Avalanche Airbag
Backpack, contact Motorfist.
Loading the Cartridges:
Step 1: Use Screw Tool to set the spring. Screw in the Screw Tool until it stops then
screw out. IMPORTANT: System is ready to use if the red pen is no longer visible.
Step 2: Screw in cartridge set. Cartridge set contains 2 cartridges: 1 Carbon Dioxide
and 1 Argon. The diameter of the thread for each canister is a different size so there is
no confusion about which holes the cartridges screw into.
Step 3: Close the zipper on the Inflater cover

Step 4: Close the backpack.
Putting on the Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack:
Step 1: Put the backpack on and ensure the shoulder straps, sternum strap buckle, waist
belt buckle and leg loop are adjusted appropriately. Make sure the waist belt buckle is
properly secured. Waist belt strap needs to be through the loop of the leg loop. Leg Loop
should be adjusted to be at a comfortable length but not too loose.
Example:
Step 2: Open the zippered sleeve and expose handle. Make sure the handle is not stuck
behind a flap or turned in the wrong direction. Make sure the handle is easy to grab.
Your pack is armed and ready to deploy.
Using the Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack:
Step 1: Pull the handle. The handle is located on the right shoulder so the rider can pull
with their left hand and keep their right hand on the throttle.

Step 2: Report your avalanche incident to the local avalanche forecasters and report the
incident to Motorfist Warranty, www.Motorfist.com or call [phone]. Use of this
product in an avalanche can damage the product. Check the pack and airbag system for
the following:
• Check the airbag for visual punctures and tears.
• Check the straps, seams and buckles for tears and deformation.
Important Notes:
• Better to pull too hard than not hard enough. Practice pulling the handle before
the ride with no cartridges. It is important to get a feel for the force required to
deploy the spring that pierces the canisters.
• To avoid accidental airbag deployment close the zipper on the trigger handle.
Reloading the Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack:
Step 1: Make sure the airbag is completely dry before reloading. Make sure the handle
is in the up position. Open the backpack.
Step 2. Open the Cartridge Compartment Zipper.
Step 3: Push the air intake valve in to deflate the airbag.
This is located behind the mesh area.

Step 4: Open the airbag zipper all the way.
Step 5: Push the remaining air out of the airbag through the air intake valve.
Start on the right side.
Step 6: Push the bottom of the airbag up to make a fold. Then push the bottom of the
airbag down into the bottom of the sleeve. Start zipping the airbag into the sleeve. Push
the top part left.
Important: Do Not Roll the airbag. The airbag needs to be folded and stuffed back into
the sleeve.

Step 7: Push the top part of the airbag back right, towards the vent, and stuff into
airbag sleeve.
Important: Do Not Roll the airbag. The airbag needs to be stuffed back into the sleeve.
Step 8: Push the last part of the airbag into the airbag sleeve. Do not fold the last part,
just stuff it in. Close the zipper.
Important: Do Not Roll the airbag. The airbag needs to be stuffed back into the sleeve.
Step 9: Unscrew the cartridges and take the old cartridges out.

Step 10: Reset spring. Reload Cartridges. Close zippered Cartridge sleeve:

Care & Storage
Care:
To avoid damage and malfunction of your Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack, carefully
adhere to all handling, cleaning and storage instructions.
The tremendous forces of an avalanche may cause damage to the backpack’s materials
and components. Careful inspection of the Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack is required
after deployment in an avalanche. Motorfist strongly recommends that you inspect all
components for damage (i.e. tears, punctures, cracks, dents), including but not limited to

the airbag, backpack, inflator system, fabric cover, cartridges, safety straps, buckles and
fasteners. In the event of signs of damage or doubt as to the dependability of your Argo
Avalanche Airbag Backpack, contact Motorfist.
Only use water when cleaning your Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack. Never use cleaners,
soaps, detergents or chemicals as they may cause damage to materials. Make sure
backpack is completely dry before re-packing.
Storage:
Store the Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack in a clean, cool and dry environment at all
times. All components of the backpack must be completely dry prior to re-packing and
storing. Cartridges must be handled with proper care, by storing away from extreme
temperatures; heat exceeding 122°F (50°C) or cold below -22°F (-30°C), and avoiding
all physical damage to the cartridge. During storage, the cartridges may be left attached
to the deployment system. For long-term storage, Motorfist recommends that the
cartridges are removed and the trigger handle deployed. For safety purposes, keep out
of reach of children.
Motorfist will not be liable for any damages or losses resulting from improper
maintenance and storage.
Trouble Shooting:
1. Malfunction: Airbag does not fully inflate
Troubleshooting:
• Cartridges not screwed in properly
• Airbag was rolled when re-packed instead of being properly folded and stuffed
• Strap could be covering airbag breakaway zipper
• The airbag system cover was not closed and something was preventing the
non-return valve to close properly

Transport
Air travel within the United States must comply with the FAA (Federal Aviation
Administration) rules.
The Alpride Airbag System is approved by the International Air Transport Association
(IATA). The guidelines are outlined in the IATA (International Air Transport Association)
reference guide under dangerous goods table 2.3A. (Visit www.iata.org for more
information.)
Please reference: www.alpride.com for information regarding travel within Europe.
Warranty:
Motorfist expressly warrants the Argo Avalanche Airbag Backpack for three years after
the date of purchase. Any modification, excessive wear and tear or damage caused by
misuse of the Argo Backpack will disclaim the warranty.

Cartouches pour coussin gonflable Alpride
Les cartouches pour coussin gonflable Alpride sont basées sur la technologie des cylindres
de gaz présents dans les gilets de sauvetage. L’entretien n’est pas requis et les cartouches
sont certifiées anti-fuites. Seulement les cartouches pour coussin gonflable Alpride
devraient être utilisées avec votre sac à dos avec coussin gonflable anti-avalanche Argo.
Une fois que le coussin gonflable Alpride a été déployé, les cartouches utilisées doivent
être remplacées avec un nouvel ensemble de cartouches. Les cartouches doivent être
éliminées adéquatement après chaque utilisation et ne peuvent pas être rechargées.
Les cartouches doivent être manipulées avec soin en les entreposant loin des
températures extrêmes; la chaleur excédant 122°F (50°C) ou le froid en-dessous de -22°F

Préparation – Vérification de l’équipement
Motorfist vous recommande fortement de vous pratiquer à activer votre sac à dos avec
coussin gonflable anti-avalanche Argo au moins une fois par année afin d’assurer un
fonctionnement, une préparation et une fonctionnalité appropriés en cas d’urgence. Cela
inclut d’enlever les cartouches du système et de tester le mécanisme de déclenchement
en utilisant la poignée.
Avant l’utilisation sur le terrain, inspectez soigneusement votre sac à dos avec coussin
gonflable anti-avalanche Argo, ainsi que toutes ses composantes. Motorfist vous
recommande fortement une inspection à intervalles réguliers pour déceler des dommages
(ex. déchirures, perforations, fissures, bosses), incluant, mais sans s’y limiter, le coussin
gonflable, le sac à dos, le système de gonflage, le tissu, les cartouches, les sangles de
sécurité, les boucles et les attaches. Assurez-vous que les cartouches soient pleines.
En cas de dommages ou de doutes concernant la fiabilité de votre sac à dos avec coussin
gonflable anti-avalanche Argo, contactez Motorfist.
Chargement des cartouches:
Étape 1: Utilisez l’outil de vissage pour fixer le ressort. Vissez dans l’outil de vissage
jusqu’à ce qu’il s’arrête et sortez alors le tournevis. IMPORTANT: Le système est prêt à
être utilisé si le point rouge n’est plus visible.
Étape 2: Vissez l’ensemble de cartouches. L’ensemble de
cartouches contient 2 cartouches: 1 de dioxyde de carbone et
1 d’argon. Le diamètre des filets pour chaque bonbonne est de
taille différente, donc il n’y a pas d’ambiguïté possible sur le
trou à utiliser pour visser chaque cartouche.

Étape 3: Fermez la fermeture éclair sur le revêtement
du système de gonflage.
Étape 4: Fermez le sac à dos.
Pour mettre le sac à dos avec coussin gonflable anti-avalanche Argo:
Étape 1: Mettez le sac à dos et assurez-vous que les sangles aux épaules, la sangle de la
boucle au sternum, la boucle de ceinture aux hanches et la courroie aux jambes soient
ajustées de manière appropriée. Assurez-vous que la boucle de ceinture aux hanches soit
attachée correctement. La sangle de la ceinture aux hanches doit être passée dans la
boucle de la courroie aux jambes. La courroie aux jambes devrait être ajustée à une
longueur confortable sans être trop lâche.
Exemple:
Étape 2: Ouvrez la fermeture éclair sur la pochette et sortez la poignée. Assurez-vous
que la poignée n’est pas prise derrière un pan de tissu ou tournée dans la mauvaise
direction. Assurez-vous que la poignée soit facile à saisir. Votre sac est alors armé et prêt
à se déployer.

Utilisation du sac à dos avec coussin gonflable anti-avalanche Argo:
Étape 1: Tirez sur la poignée. La poignée est localisée sur l’épaule droite pour que le
conducteur puisse tirer avec sa main gauche afin de garder sa main droite sur l’accélérateur.
Étape 2: Rapportez l’incident au centre local de prévision des avalanches et rapportez
l’incident à la Garantie Motorfist au www.Motorfist.com ou en appelant au 877-347-
8411. L’utilisation de ce produit dans une avalanche peut endommager le produit. Vérifiez
le sac et le système de coussin gonflable pour les bris suivants:
• Vérifiez visuellement le coussin gonflable pour des perforations et des déchirures.
• Vérifiez les sangles, les coutures et les boucles pour des déchirures et des
déformations.
Notes importantes:
• Il est mieux de tirer trop fort que pas assez. Pratiquez-vous à tirer sur la poignée
sans cartouche avant votre promenade. Il est important de sentir la force
nécessaire pour déployer le ressort qui perce les bonbonnes.
• Afin d’éviter un déploiement accidentel du coussin gonflable, fermez la fermeture
éclair sur la poignée de déclenchement.
Rechargement du sac à dos avec coussin gonflable anti-avalanche Argo:
Étape 1: Assurez-vous que le coussin gonflable est complètement sec avant le rechargement.
Assurez-vous que la poignée soit positionnée vers le haut. Ouvrez le sac à dos.
Étape 2: Ouvrez la fermeture éclair du compartiment à cartouches.
