SPECIAL CORD SET INSTRUCTIONS
1. A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting
from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
2. An extension cord may be purchased and used if care is exercised in
its use.
3. if an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the
extension cord must be at least 10 amps, 120 volts, and should be
a grounding-type 3 wire cord.. The resulting extended cord must be
arranged so that it will not drapeover the counter top or table top
where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over
accidentally.
CORD STORAGE
Before storing your coffeemaker, wind the cord and place it inside the hidden
cord storage area located on the rear of the machine.

PRECAUTIONS WHEN USING THIS MACHINE
Do’s...
Avoid areas of the coffeemaker which may become hot or emit steam
when the machine is “on”, particularly the filter basket and the water
reservoir.
. Avoid jerking or straining the power cord when unplugging. Grasp the
molded plug to unplug.

Unplug the unit when not in use.
.
Unplug the unit and allow to cool before wiping the exterior. Use only a
damp cloth to wipe.

Place machine well back from edge of counter.
.
Avoid using chemically softened water. The use of chemically softened
water can inhibit proper filtration. This will affect the beverage flavor and
will cause a long drip time from the brew funnel.
Don’ts...

DO NOT place a cloth or otherwise restrict airflow beneath the appli-
ance.

DO NOT reheat a beverage by passing it through the brewing system.

DO NOT use abrasive or caustic cleaning compounds to clean the
interior or exterior of the unit.

Introduction
Congratulations! You are the owner of a Mr. Coffee 24 cup coffeemaker,
model CK24 or CK240. Mr. Coffee’s line of 24 cup coffeemakers feature a
coffee level indicator, ON and Brew Ready lights, easy-to-grip handles, and
will brew twenty-four cups
in about 17 minutes.
The CK240 model features a 4 Hour Automatic Shut-Off.

use this appliance. Proper care and maintenance will ensure the long life of
this appliance and its trouble-free operation. Save these instructions and

Clean Your Mr. Coffee Before Using the First Time
Make sure your first cup of coffee is as good as can be by cleaning your Mr.
Coffee coffeemaker before you use it the first time. Just follow these simple
steps:
I. Wash the pitcher and removable filter basket in a mixture of mild
detergent and water. Rinse each thoroughly.
2. Replace the filter basket and then follow steps #4 through #6 in the
‘BREWING COFFEE’ section. This will clean the inside of your
coffeemaker.
3. When the brew cycle is finished, turn your coffeemaker OFF. Discard
__
the water and rinse the filter basket.
Your coffeemaker is now ready to
use.

SUGGESTED COFFEE MEASUREMENT CHART
For the best results, use level cups or level coffee scoops of drip
grind recommended for automatic drip coffeemakers.
TO BREW USE THIS MUCH GROUND COFFEE:
24 Cups 1 1/2 or cups 12 scoops
20 cups 1 1/4 or cups 10 scoops
16 Cups
1 or 8 cup scoops
12 cups 3/4 cup or 6scoops
1. Use more or less coffee to suit your taste.
2 level tablespoons = 1 level scoop
Brewing Coffee

Open the lid by depressing the latch and rotating the lid back. Swing the
spray head toward the back of the machine. Insert a Mr. Coffee A8
commercial paper filter into the black inner filter basket.
Add desired amount of coffee according to the coffee measurement
chart found above. Shake lightly to level coffee.
Fill the pitcher with tap water to desired capacity as marked on the
side of the pitcher. (1 cup equals 5 ounces.)
Pour the water into the water reservoir.
Be sure the paper filter is properly centered and the spray head is
centered over the basket. The lid will not properly latch unless the
spray head is over the basket.
Plug the cord into an electrical outlet and turn the ON/OFF switch to ON.
The “ON” light will illuminate. When Brew Ready light is ON, the brewing
cycle is complete.
Open lid, swing spray head toward the back of machine. Using the
grip tab and handle, remove the black filter basket to discard the used
grounds and filter. Rinse the filter basket, replace filter basket and
spray head.
Note: Your coffeemaker (CK240 only) will automatically shut-off in
4 hours. To keep your coffee hot for an additional 4 hours, simply
turn your coffeemaker ON/OFF switch to OFF and back ON again.
Do not brew again until the coffee level indicator is empty. To
make another pot of coffee, turn the coffeemaker OFF and repeat
steps
#l through #7.
Be sure to turn the ON/OFF switch OFF when the coffee level indicator
is empty and you are no longer using your coffeemaker. Unplug the
power cord when not in use.

Dispensing Coffee

Before turning your machine ON, be sure the faucet is closed (top of faucet
is laying toward machine).

Automatic Shuf-Off (CK240 only)
‘our coffeemaker will keep your coffee hot for 4 hours and then automatical-
ly shut-off. To keep your coffee hot for an additional 4 hours, turn your cof-
fee semaker ON/OFF switch to OFF then back ON to reset timer. When your
coffee
level indicator becomes empty, turn your coffeemaker OFF by
depressing the ON/OFF switch to OFF.

Cleaning Instructions
Your coffeemaker must be cleaned when you begin to notice excessive
steaming or the brewing time increases considerably. This condition is
caused by a buildup of lime and mineral deposits from your water. If the
pumping action stops before all the water has been pumped out of the
machine, then the appliance requires cleaning.
The frequency of cleaning depends on the hardness of water used. The fol-
lowing table gives the suggested cleaning intervals.
SUGGESTED CLEANING INTERVAL

every 40 brew cycles
Your coffeemaker may be cleaned by using MR. COFFEE CLEANER or
vinegar. For best results, use MR. COFFEE CLEANER. It is superior to vine-
gar and has no unpleasant odor.
Using Mr. Coffee Cleaner
(Read caution statement on side panel of Mr. Coffee Cleaner box before use)
1. Fill the pitcher with 8 - 10 pitcher cups of warm water.
2. Empty contents of two packets of MR. COFFEE CLEANER into the
pitcher and stir with a plastic or wooden spoon until the cleaner is
completely dissolved.
3. Pour the blue solution into the coffeemaker.
4. The spray head should be positioned over the filter basket and the
lid securely latched.
5. Turn your coffeemaker ON.
6. When the blue solution has stopped flowing, turn your coffeemaker OFF.
7. Discard the blue solution from the coffee reservoir.
8. Wash and rinse the coffee reservoir thoroughly using a soft cloth.
Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners.
9. Repeat steps #1 - #8 with clean water only (no blue solution).
Continue to rinse out the unit until you see no remaining traces of
the blue solution.
10. lf a normal brewing flow rate is not achieved, repeat the deaning steps #l - #9

Using Vinegar:
1. Pour 2 quarts of undiluted whii household vinegar into your coffeemaker.
2. Move the spray

close the lid. swing the spray head over the filter basket and

Limited Warranty
Mr. Coffee, inc. warrants to the purchaser that Mr. Coffee’s
24 Cup Coffeemaker, CK Series, (except for cord set) is free
from manufacturer defects in material and workmanship for a
period of one year from the date of original purchase when used
in compliance with directions as outlined in the manufacturer’s
instructions, which will constitute reasonable and necessary
maintenance by the consumer.
In case of manufacturer defects in material or workmanship,
Mr. Coffee, inc. agrees to repair (remedy) a defective cof-
feemaker without charge. The purchaser’s exclusive remedy
against Mr. Coffee, inc. shall be for the repair or replacement of
a defective Mr. Coffee Product.
All repairs must be made at an authorized. Mr. Coffee Service
Center. To locate a Mr. Coffee Service Center, call l-800-321-
0370. As the purchaser, you assume all cost incurred in trans-
porting your Mr. Coffee machine to and from the authorized Mr.
Coffee Service Center. Mr. Coffee, inc. shall not be responsible
for any repairs performed at any facility which is not an autho-

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may

Un fil Electrique court est fourni afin de reduire les dangers qui
pourraient résulter d’un fil plus long qui peut s’empêtrer dans
les pieds.
On peut acheter un fil d’allonge et l’utiliser en faisant bien attention.
Si l’on utilise un fil d’allonge, le régime indique d’électricite du fil
d’allonge doit Atre au moins de 10 amps, 120 volts, et doit &tre
du type mis àla terre à3 broches. Le fil d’allonge doit alors &re
positionne de façon ane pas courir plus bas que le comptoir ou la
table car les enfants pourraient le tirer ou s’empêtrer les pieds
accidentellement.
RANGEMENT DU FIL ÉLECTRIQUE
Avant de ranger votre cafetiere, enrouler le fil et le placer al’intérieur dans
l’endroit de rangement cache du fil à l’arriere de la machine.

PRÉCAUTIONS POUR L’UTILISATION

de l’eau adoucie aux produits chimiques peut inhiber la filtration normale.
Ceci affectera la saveur du café et rendra la durée d’écoulement
à partir
de l’entonnoir plus longue.
À ne pas faire . . .
NE PAS placer un linge ou autre chose qui empêcherait l’écoulement de
l’air sous l’appareil.
NE PAS &Chauffer le breuvage en le faisant passer par le système de
preparation.
NE PAS utiliser de nettoyeurs abrasifs ou caustiques pour nettoyer
l’intérieur ou I’exterieur de l’unité.
NE PAS ranger la machine avant qu’elle n’ait refroidi.
NE PAS permettre aux enfants d’utiliser cette machine sans la
surveillance d’un adulte.
NE PAS preparer moins de 12 tasses de caf6 ou plus de 24 tasses

Mr. Coffee comprend un indicateur de niveau de caf& des voyants EN

Nettoyage de la cafetière Mr. Coffee avant de I’u-
tiliser la première fois
S’assurer que la première tasse de café est aussi savoureuse que possible
en nettoyant la
cafeti&e Mr. Coffee avant de l’utiliser la premikre fois. Suivre
simplement les Btapes suivantes:
l 1. Laver le pot et le panier à filtre qui s’enlève dans un mélange de
détergent doux et d’eau. Bien rincer les deux pièces.
2. Replacer le panier afiltre et suivre les ctapes N” 4 jusqu’au No 6 dans
la section “BREWING COFFEE” (“PREPARATION DU CAFÉ”). Ceci
nettoie l’intérieur de la cafetière.
3. Lorsque le cycle de prbparation du café est termi&, mettre la cafetière a
HORS SERVICE. Jeter l’eau et rincer le panier àfiltre.
Votre cafetière est maintenant prête àl’usage.

Pour préparer le café

Ouvrir le couvercle en appuyant sur le crochet de retenue et en pivotant
le couvercle vers l’arrière. Pousser la tête d’arrosage vers I’arriere de la
machine. Insérer un filtre commercial en papier Mr. Coffee A8 dans le
panier à filtre noir intérieur.
Ajouter la quantité désiree de café selon le tableau de mesure de café
plus haut. Secouer legèrement pour mettre le café à niveau.
Remplir le pot avec de l’eau du robinet à la capacité desiree tel
qu’indique sur le côte du pot. (1 tasse Egale 5 onces).
Verser l’eau dans le réservoir
à eau.
S’assurer que le filtre en papier est bien centré et que la tête d’arrosage
est centree au-dessus du panier. Le couvercle ne s’ajustera pas de
façon appropriée si la tête d’arrosage n’est pas au-dessus du panier.
Brancher le fil dans la prise et mettre le commutateur EN
MARCHE/HORS SERVICE
à EN SERVICE. Le voyant EN MARCHE va
s’allumer. Lorsque le voyant Brew Ready (préparation completee) est
EN MARCHE, le cycle de préparation est complété.
Ouvrir le couvercle, pousser la t&te d’arrosage vers I’arriere de la
machine. Au moyen de la patte de retenue et du manche, enlever le
panier
à filtre noir pour jeter les graines utilisees et le filtre. Rincer le
panier à filtre, replacer le panier afiltre et la tête d’arrosage.
Note: Votre cafetiere (CK240 seulement) s’arrétera automatiquement
apres 4 heures. Pour garder le caf6 chaud pendant 4 heures
supplementaires, simplement tourner le commutateur EN
MARCHE/HORS SERVICE àHORS SERVICE et ensuite
à EN
MARCHE de nouveau.
Ne pas préparer de cafe jusqu’à ce que l’indicateur de niveau de café ne
soit vide. Pour préparer une autre cafetière de caf& mettre la cafetiere
HORS SERVICE et repeter les etapes
No1 jusqu’au N”7.
S’assurer de bien mettre le commutateur EN MARCHE/HORS SERVICE
à HORS SERVICE lorsque l’indicateur de niveau de caf& est au vide et
que vous n’utilisez plus la cafetibre. Débrancher le fil Electrique lorsque
vous ne l’utilisez pas.
