normal
residential
grass
of
a
height
no
more
than
10'.
Do
not
attempt
to
mow
through
unusually
tall,
dry
grass
(e.g.,
pasture)
or
piles
of
dry
leaves.
Debris
may
build
up
on
the
mower
deck
or
contact
the
engine
exhaust
presenting
a
potential
fire
hazard.
II.
SLOPE
OPERATION
Slopes
are
a
major
factor
related
to
loss
of
control
and
tip-over
acci¬
dents
which
can
result
in
severe
injury
or
death.
All
slopes
require
extra
caution.
If
you
cannot
back
up
the
slope
or
if
you
feel
uneasy
on
it,
do
not
mow
it.
For
your
safety,
use
the
slope
gauge
included
as
part
of
this
manual
to
measure
slopes
before
operating
this
unit
on
a
sloped
or
hilly
area.
If
the
slope
is
greater
than
15°
as
shown
on
the
slope
gauge,
do
not
operate
this
unit
on
that
area
or
serious
injury
could
result.
DO:
Mow
up
and
down
slopes,
not
across.
Remove
obstacles
such
as
rocks,
limbs,
etc.
Watch
for
holes,
ruts
or
bumps.
Uneven
terrain
could
overturn
the
machine
Tall
grass
can
hide
obstacles.
Use
slow
speed.
Choose
a
low
enough
gear
so
that
you
will
not
have
to
stop
or
shift
while
on
the
slope.
Always
keep
machine
in
gear
when
going
down
slopes
to
take
advantage
of
engine
braking
action.
Follow
the
manufacturer’s
recommendations
for
wheel
weights
or
counterweights
to
improve
stability.
Use
extra
care
with
grass
catchers
or
other
attachments.
These
can
change
the
stability
of
the
machine.
Keep
all
movement
on
the
slopes
slow
and
gradual.
Do
not
make
sudden
changes
in
speed
or
direction.
Rapid
engagement
or
braking
could
cause
the
front
of
the
machine
to
lift
and
rapidly
flip
over
backwards
which
could
cause
serious
injury.
Avoid
starting
or
stopping
on
a
slope.
If
tires
lose
traction,
disen¬
gage
the
blade(s)
and
proceed
slowly
straight
down
the
slope.
DO
NOT:
Do
not
turn
on
slopes
unless
necessary;
then,
turn
slowly
and
grad¬
ually
downhill,
if
possible.
Do
not
mow
near
drop-offs,
ditches
or
embankments.The
mower
could
suddenly
turn
over
if
a
wheel
is
over
the
edge
of
a
cliff
or
ditch,
or
if
an
edge
caves
in.
Do
not
mow
on
wet
grass.
Reduced
traction
could
cause
sliding.
Do
not
try
to
stabilize
the
machine
by
putting
your
foot
on
the
ground.
Do
not
use
grass
catcher
on
steep
slopes.
III.
CHILDREN
Tragic
accidents
can
occur
if
the
operator
is
not
alert
to
the
presence
of
children.
Children
are
often
attracted
to
the
machine
and
the
mowing
activity.
Never
assume
that
children
will
remain
where
you
last
saw
them.
1.
Keep
children
out
of
the
mowing
area
and
in
watchful
care
of
an
adult
other
than
the
operator.
2.
Be
alert
and
turn
machine
off
if
children
enter
the
area.
3.
Before
and
when
backing,
look
behind
and
down
for
small
children.

ASSEMBLY
INSTRUCTIONS
BATTERY
INFORMATION
A
A.
Battery
acid
must
be
handled
with
great
care
as
contact
with
it
can
burn
and
blister
the
skin.
It
is
also
advisable
to
wear
protective
clothing
(goggles,
rubber
gloves
and
apron)
when
working
with
it.*
B.
Should
battery
acid
accidentally
splatter
into
the
eyes
or
onto
the
face,
rinse
the
affected
area
immediately
with
clean
cold
water.
If
there
is
any
further
discomfort,
seek
prompt
medical
attention.
C.
If
acid
spills
on
clothing,
first
dilute
it
with
clean
water,
then
neutralize
with
a
solution
of
ammonia/
water
or
baking
soda/water.
D.
Since
battery
acid
is
corrosive,
do
not
pour
it
into
any
sink
or
drain.
Before
discarding
empty
electrolyte
containers,
rinse
them
with
a
neutralizing
solution.
E.
NEVER
connect
or
disconnect
charger
clips
to
bat¬
tery
while
charger
is
turned
on
as
it
can
cause
sparks.
F.
Keep
all
lighted
materials
(cigarettes,
matches,
lighters)
away
from
the
battery
as
the
hydrogen
gas
generated
during
charging
can
be
combustible.
G.
As
a
further
precaution,
only
charge
the
battery
in
a
we
11-ventilated
area.
*
Always
shield
eyes,
protect
skin
and
clothing
when
working
near
batteries.
Battery
contains
sulfuric
acid.
Refer
to
warning
above.
Antidote:
EXTERNAL—Flush
with
water.
INTERNAL—Drink
large
quantities
of
water
or
milk.
Follow
with
milk
of
magnesia,
beaten
eggs
or
vege¬
table
oil.
Call
physician
immediately.
EYES:
Flush
with
cool
water
for
at
least
15
minutes,
then
get
prompt
medical
attention.
Since
batteries
produce
explosive
gases,
keep
all
lighted
materials
(cigarettes,
lighters,
matches,
etc.)
away.
Be
sure
to
charge
battery
only
in
well-ventilated
areas.
Make
certain
venting
path
of
battery
(drain
tube)
is
always
open.
KEEP
BATTERIES
OUT
OF
THE
REACH
OF
CHILDREN!
IMPORTANT:
After

OPERATING
THE
TRACTOR
IMPORTANT:
This
unit
is
equipped
with
a
safety
interlock
system
for
your
protection.
The
purpose
of
the
safety
interlock
system
is
to
prevent
the
engine
from
cranking
or
starting
unless
the
clutch-brake
pedal
is
depressed
and
the
PTO
switch
is
in
the
OFF
posi¬
tion.
In
addition,
the
PTO
switch
must
be
in
the
OFF
position
when
the
unit
is
put
into
reverse
or
the
engine
will
shut
off.
If
the
operator
leaves
the
seat
with
the
PTO
ON
and/or
without
setting
the
parking
brake,
the
engine
will
shut
off.
WARNING:
Do
not
operate
the
tractor
if
the
interlock
system
is
malfunctioning
because
it
is
a
safety
device,
designed
for
protection.
1.
Place
the
PTO
switch
in
the
OFF
position.
2.
Depress

the
right
to
the
START
position.
After
the
engine
starts,
release
the

that
the
lawn
is
clear
of
stones,
sticks,
wire,
or
other
objects
which
could
damage
lawn
tractor
or
engine.
For
best
results
and
to
insure
more
even

When
stopping
the
unit
to
empty
a
grass
bag,
etc.,
follow
the
instructions
above.
This
procedure
will
also
eliminate
“browning”
the
grass,
which
is
caused
by
hot
exhaust
gases
from
a
running
engine.
IMPORTANT:
If
you
strike
a
