Gain The gain control is NOT a volume control. The gain control adjusts the amount of
signal required to drive the amp to full output. With the gain control at maximum (full
clockwise rotation), less signal input voltage is required to drive the amp to full output.
With the gain control at minimum (full counter clockwise rotation), more signal input
voltage is required to drive the amp to full output.
Crossovers -Low Pass Filter (LPF) The Low Pass Filter is designed to remove high
frequency information from a subwoofer. This prevents the subwoofers from trying to
reproduce the mid and high frequencies that they were not designed to reproduce.
Most subwoofers are designed to operate at a frequency
of
between 80 and 1
00 Hz, but
since each system is different, you will want to fine tune the settings according to what
other components comprise the system
in
your vehicle.
Crossovers -High pass Filter (HPF) The High Pass Filter is designed to remove low
frequency information from a midrange speaker or tweeter. This prevents those
components from trying tom reproduce the low frequencies that they were not designed
to reproduce. Subjecting a tweeter
of
midrange speaker to low frequencies will not only
result
in
poor quality sound, it could cause permanent damage to the speakers, so
careful adjustment
of
this setting is suggested.
Bass Boost -This provides
an
increased emphasis in the subwoofer range for added
bass response. On the MXA
1.500, the frequency that can be boosted is adjustable
from 40Hz -100Hz, in the amount of 0-12dB. On the MXA4.480, the bass boost is
fixed at a frequency
of
45Hz and can
be
boosted by either 6dB or 12dB. On the
MXA5.750, the subwoofer channel only has a 45Hz fixed bass boost
of
0-12dB.
Subsonic Filter -This removes unwanted frequencies below the subwoofer's or
enclosure's response range. This increases the amp's efficiency by not requiring it to
reproduce frequencies below the tuning
of
the enclosure. On the MXA
1.500, this is
adjustable from 10-50Hz. On the MXA5.750, it is adjustable from 15-55Hz.
Input Mode (MXA5.750 only) -This enables you to get output from all 5 channels even
if input is only sent to 2 or 4 channels &eliminates the need for Y adaptors.
