Do not place photographs, TV's, paintings, porcelain, etc or other combustible items on the
wall or near to the appliance. Exposure to hot temperatures can be dangerous and cause
damage.
Clearances to furniture, soft furnishings and decoration:
Serious consideration should be given to the positioning of any furniture, soft furnishings
or decoration that could be adversely affected by heat. Newman Fireplaces Ltd recommend
that any furniture, soft furnishings, decoration, to be a minimum of 1200 mm away from
any surface of the stove.
Do not place curtains / blinds above the appliance.
Do not drape clothes or any materials over the stove.
This appliance must not be used without the glass window in place or a damaged glass
window, seek expert advice.
This stove is fitted with a spillage monitoring system consisting of a thermal switch, which
shuts the appliance off in the event of a blocked flue or inadequate flue pull occurring. The
system shall not be adjusted by the installer or any other person or shall not be put out of
action. When the spillage monitoring system is required to be replaced, only original
manufacturers parts shall be used. If the stove switches off for no apparent reason, the
appliance must not be used until expert advice is obtained and the fault rectified.
This appliance could contain some of the materials, as indicated below, that could be
interpreted as being injurious to Health and Safety. It is the users / installers responsibility
to ensure that the required personal protective clothing and shields are worn when handling
these materials, see below for more information.
Artificial Fuels, Mineral wool, Insulation material, Refractory / Ceramic fibres, Glass yarn,
Glowing embers, Vermiculite Granules- may be harmful if inhaled, may be irritating to skin, eyes,
nose, and throat.
When handling avoid inhaling and contact with skin and eyes. Use disposable gloves, facemasks,
and eye protection. After handling wash hands and other exposed parts thoroughly. If a vacuum is
used for cleaning the logs or cleaning after installation or servicing, it is highly recommended that
the vacuum is of a type fitted with a Hepa filter.
Disposal of refractory / ceramic materials. To keep dust to a minimum these materials should be
securely wrapped in polythene and be clearly labelled ‘RCF waste’. These materials are not
classified as hazardous waste and should be disposed of at a site licensed for the disposal of
industrial waste.
During initial use due to the newness of the appliance, a slight odour may be evident. This
is the binder used during the manufacture of the fibre components of the fire, although this
odour is not harmful it is recommended to open all windows and exit the room to allow the
