HOW TO FOCUS YOUR NIGHT VISION DEVICE
In a LIGHTED environment:
Step 1 Install Battery (battery not in luded).
Step 2 DO NOT REMOVE the LENS CAPS.
The pinholes in the lens aps let through a small amount of light.
Removing lens aps in daylight ould damage the unit.
Step 3
Rotate the EYEPIECES lo kwise until they stop.
Step 4 Press POWER button to turn devi e on.
Lens aps should still be installed on the devi e.
Step 5 Look through the EYEPIECE.
Look at an obje t a ross the room, and rotate EYEPIECE until obje t omes into fo us.

In a DARK environment:
Step 6 In the dark, remove LENS CAPS.
Step 7 Do NOT rotate EYEPIECES.
Step 8 Cli k on the INFRARED button.
A beam of infrared light, invisible to the human and animal eye, provides extra illumination.
Step 9 Move the FOCUS ADJUSTMENT KNOB to Fo us on a spe ifi obje t.
NOTE: Model # NONB2FF does not require this step.
Warning:
When the power is turned OFF, the image will not immediately disappear. It will remain
visible for up to several minutes as the tube dis harges. The dis harge (fading of image) will
be faster in higher light environments, slower in the dark.

Image Qual ty
The image you see through a Night Vision devi e is VERY DIFFERENT from the image observed
using day-time bino ulars. A Night Vision image is ele troni ally amplified and then repro-
du ed on a phosphorus s reen and therefore not as “ lear” as a day-time bino ular image.
Light and dark marks (spots) aused by the Ele troni Intensifier Tube an be seen in the field
of view. These are normal and are not defe ts in the Ele troni Intensifier Tube.
Image sharpness is also not onsistent a ross the field of view. The image has very high
resolution in the enter. The image be omes more distorted toward the periphery of the image.
Due to our sophisti ated orre tive opti s, the amount of distortion in your Night Vision devi e
is less then the distortion found in other Night Vision devi es.
IMPORTANT: You may see spots or other anomalies on the image when testing in a lighted
environment with the lens ap on.
When using the devi e in the field with the lens aps removed, many of these anomalies will
disappear. Testing indoors, with the lens aps affixed, fo uses the light into a narrow beam
through the enter of the image intensifier tube; this auses light to refle t inside the devi e to
produ e spots on the phosphorus s reen that many times will not be visible in the field.
Typi al Image Appearan e
Use of the Infrared Illuminator in a losed room, or at lose range, will exaggerate the light and
dark spots on the Ele troni Intensifier Tube. The Infrared Illuminator, although invisible to
human and animal eyes, is very bright at lose range when viewed through the devi e. This
bright light exaggerates the spots on the Ele troni Intensifier Tube. Testing your Night Vision
devi e indoors with the Infrared Illuminator, at lose range, is not representative of the
performan e of the devi e in its intended outdoor appli ation.

L ght Cond t ons
Complete Darkness
Your Night Vision devi e works by
amplifying available natural light.
In omplete darkness, with no
available natural light, you annot
see without the use of the Infrared
Illuminator (IR). The IR works like
a flashlight, but the light beam
proje ted out is invisible to human
and animal eyes.
Half-Moon
A half-moon provides a
substantial amount of ambient
light to be amplified by the internal
Ele troni Intensifier Tubes.
Without the assistan e of the IR,
you an re ognize a man-sized
obje t about 300 yards away.
Starlight (no moon)
A starlite night provides the
minimal amount of ambient light
to allow viewing unassisted by
the IR. Without the IR
illuminated, a man-sized obje t
an be re ognized about 200
yards away. The IR will greatly
improve target re ognition.
Urban Environment
(with man-made light sour es)
Streetlights and headlights will
generally not damage the
Ele troni Intensifier Tube, if a
safe distan e away. As a
pre aution, do not point the
devi e dire tly into a light sour e.
At a distan e of more than 30
yards, most ommon man-made
light sour es will generally not
damage the devi e.

How N ght V s on Works
Light oming into the devi e from the dire tion of the obje t is gathered by the obje tive lens
and fo used onto the Image Intensifier Tubes.
The front of the Image Intensifier Tubes ontain a photo athode whi h onverts light into ele trons.
The devi e ontains a very high voltage power supply, whi h onverts the 3 volts supplied by
the batteries into 17 kilovolts.
The high voltage hurls the ele trons into the phosphorous s reens. The phosphorous s reens
illuminate with an image when stru k by ele trons. The eyepie e opti then fo uses the
phosphorous s reen images to your eye.
Troubleshoot ng
Unit may require several se onds after power-on for image to appear. This is normal.
Fo us Problems
Try in lighted environment with lens aps on.
Are you able to fo us the eyepie es?
• YES - Use in dark with lens aps off but do not rotate eyepie es after they have been
adjusted to our eyesight.

How to Care for your N ght V s on Dev ce
If you intend to store your unit for more than 24 hours, it is best to remove the batteries.
Keep the unit in a ool, dry pla e.
Clean lenses the same way you would your amera, with professional lens leaning supplies.
The lenses are opti ally oated and may be s rat hed if abrasive material is used or if dirt is
rubbed into the glass. Do not tou h lens surfa e with fingers.
Do not drop or expose to sho k. The Intensifier Tube is made of glass.
Do not disassemble or attempt to servi e the devi e. The power supply generates 17,000 volts inside!
If your devi e needs repair, please refer to your warranty ard.
Do not leave inside ar on a hot, sunny day.
Clean exterior with a soft, lean loth.
If ondensation is visible on the unit, return it to a normal temperature and wait until the
ondensation disappears before using.

Frequently Asked Quest ons
Why are the projected mages always green us ng N ght V s on technology?
The human eye resolves detail best at the wavelength of green light.
How should I care for my N ght V s on dev ce?
Do not operate in lighted conditions; device is for use in the dark.
Do not drop the device. The internal intensifier tube is made of glass and is sensitive to impact.
Why do you focus both the front (Object ve lens) and Eyep ece (Ocular Lens)?
You do not see through the Night Vision device, like a day binocular. Rather you see the
phosphor screen on the back of the tube. The objective lens focuses the image on to the front
of the intensifier tube. That image is then converted into electrons. The electrons strike the
phosphorous screen converting electrical energy into a visible image. The eyepiece focuses
your vision on to the image on the phosphorous screen.
What s the effect ve range of N ght V s on?
The maximum viewing distance depends on the environmental conditions and the size of
the object being viewed. Overcast conditions, fog or rain will reduce the effective distance
you can see. The Infrared Illuminator will increase viewing range, especially in areas of
complete darkness where there is no ambient light.
What s the max mum effect ve d stance of the Infrared Illum nator?
75 to 125 yds. The farther the object, the less intense the infrared light will be on the target.
Are N ght V s on dev ces safe?
Night Vision products include shield-encased image intensifiers. The infrared illuminator
utilizes light emitting diodes (LED’s) operating in the near-infrared range and will not harm
your eyes like a laser.
CAUTION: Do not point Infrared Emitter directly into eye at close range.
The infrared Emitter emits a BRIGHT, although invisible, beam of light.
As with any bright light, do not point into the eye.
Recognize that the image produced on the phosphorous screen can be very bright. Staring into
a very bright light causes the pupil to constrict. Your eye needs time to adjust to ambient light.
When can I expose the un t to l ght?
For demonstration purposes there is a pinhole in the lens cap, which enables you to power on
the unit in a lighted environment. The lens cap can be taken off during daylight, but the unit
has to be powered off.
What s Generat on 1? How does t d ffer from other Generat ons of N ght V s on dev ces?
Generation 1, 2, 3 and 4 all employ electron bombardment technology. All of these
technologies convert light into electrons and reproduce the image on a phosphorous screen.
Generation 1 produces a higher resolution image than Generation 2.
Generation 3 and 4 are used by the United States Military and are very expensive.
Generation 2, 3 and 4 use a fiber optic device and/or special chemicals to further amplify light.
