Glucometer

This booklet should be used with your Rosie Smart Meter Training Video
to train your staff in the proper operation of the Rosie Smart Meter Blood
Glucose Monitoring System. Upon completion of training, the trainee will
be a certified operator.
In order to become certified, the designated trainer should demonstrate
the ability to:
I. Set the Date / Time
II. Perform a Control Solution Test
III. Perform a Blood Glucose Test
IV. Connect Results to Rosie Connect 2.0
Setting the date and time:
- Date and time will need to be set the first time the battery is
inserted and every time it is changed.
1) When the battery is inserted into the back of the meter, it will
automatically turn on and enter the setting mode with the year will be
flashing on the screen.
2) Push the button to advance the year. When the meter is at the
desired year, allow it to flash three times and it will set and move on
to month.
3) Do this for month, day, hour and minute. After the minute is set the

meter will display “ok” and shut off.
Performing a control solution test:
1) Insert a new strip into the meter and confirm that the number on
the screen matches the code on the vial/pouch of foil wrapped
strips. After roughly 3 seconds the number will go away and you
will be at the “home screen”
2) Press the button 3 times to perform a low solution test. qCL will
display on the screen.
3) Press the button 4 times to perform a high solution test. qCH will
display on the screen.
4) Drop solution directly on the strip and make sure the reading is
within the stated range on the vial/pouch of foil wrapped strips
The Check Strip
The check strip can be used to ensure that the meter is working
properly and to delete all saved readings.

1) To ensure that the meter is working properly, insert the check
strip into the meter the same was as you would insert a test
strip with the side that says “check” facing up.
2) “OK” should display on the screen within 10 seconds. When you
eject the check strip the meter will automatically turn off.
3) To delete all saved readings, repeat steps one and two. When
“OK” displays, hold the button for three seconds and “del” will
appear. When this happens, press and hold the button for two
more seconds and “OK” will appear and the meter will shut off.
Performing a blood glucose test:
1) Insert a strip into the meter and confirm that the number on the screen
matches the code on the vial/pouch of foil wrapped strips.
2) The meter will need .5ul of blood to perform the test and will produce
a reading within 5 seconds. After retrieving the reading, eject the test
strip by pressing the release button
3) The meter will automatically shut off when the used test strip is
ejected.

Cleaning and Disinfection
Cleaning Procedure
1. Place device and wipes on a smooth surface. Be sure there is enough light.
2. Wash hand with soap and warm water then pat dry.
3. Put on a protective glove.
4. Take a piece of germicidal wipe out of canister/
5. Wipe entire device until visibly clean.
6. Throw away the used wipe. Please do not reuse the wipe.
Caution
Always clean before disinfecting, all parts of devices are considered
biohazard. Be sure to disinfect all parts thoroughly.
Disinfect Procedures
1. Prepare wipes and meter.
2. Take a germicidal wipe out of canister.
3. Put the moistened wipe on a smooth surface.
4. LCD side up. Wipe the device from left to right 3 times slowly. All other sudes
and surfaces should be wiped in this way.
5. Make sure the meter stays wet for 1 minute. Please DO NOT get disinfectant
liquid into the test strip slot.
6. Throw away the used wipes. Please do not reuse the wipe.
7. After disinfection, user’s gloves should be discarded properly and hands should
be thoroughly washed with soap and water before the proceeding to the next
patient.

Warning
1. Please use the disinfectant with caution
2. For your own safety, please do not mix disinefectant with other liquid.
3. Please read the instructions carefully on the disinfectant canister before
starting disinfection.
4. Please don’t use the wipes on any part of a human.
5. Store disinfectants out of the reach of children.
6. If any signs of deterioration are noted, stop using the meter and please contact
Nurse Rosie customer service at 800.841.1109 Monday-Friday 8:30am-
4:30pm.
7. If you witness cloudy display, material cracking, brittle, softening or meter
buttons, malfunction, then performance of meter has changed (i.e. control
fails)
8. Put the moistened wipe on a smooth surface.
