ALPHA UWCP
The Cellular Phone has been one of the world’s most dynamic
new technologies and only continues to evolve. Within the last
20 years, this revolutionary device has changed all of our lives
completely and is arguably the 20th century’s greatest
technological innovation.
It seems there are only a few places on earth that could not be
reached by cellular calls. The earth’s oceans are no exception.
The sea covers over 70 percent of the worlds surface, yet
receiving an underwater phone call has never been possible,
until now. Since the beginning of its history, underwater
communication has been driven by hardwired connections and
later by the ultrasonic wireless technology. Ocean REEF is
proud to introduce a 3rd option in underwater/surface
communications, the use of cell phone transmitting while
diving. This new form of communication from and to divers is
now possible with our new product, theALPHAUWCP. This
new technology makes it possible for communication between 2
divers or diver-surface 20000 km away!
This new underwater communication unit is integrated with a
speaker and microphone and can be easily installed on any one
of the Ocean REEF full face masks (Neptune II NIRA, Space,
Predator or Raptor). This unit is wired with a 40 meter cable and
can be modified to most any request. (Ocean REEF suggests a
cable length of no more then 50 meters for action divers. A
quick release waterproof rubber connection allows the diver to
separate from the cable at any given moment.
The cable ends with a quick water resistant bayonet connection,
plugged into an impact and water resistant compact box.

This compact box may be contained in a special custom made
buoy with a unique top pocket to provide a firm attachment to
the box. The device is further attached to the buoy with the use
of custom rubber bands. The buoy has a water reserve bottom
pocket for even more stability while on the surface. The device
is also equipped with diver flags (international and commercial).
The water resistant surface box contains an electronic
BLUETOOTH interface which can be connected to the
appropriate cellular phone. Acellular phone may be purchased
with the unit.
The device works with a 9 volts alkaline battery (not included).
Phone plans and adaptability may vary according to country and
provider.

Any cellular phone with Bluetooth, “voice dialing” capabilities
and with dimensions no larger than 60 mm wide, 25 mm thick ,
110 mm high, can simply be plugged into the standard
production unit. Phones larger then these dimensions can also be
adapted. Custom made units can be provided on request and
quantity evaluation.
How to install the ALPHA UWCP
1- plug all the connectors between underwater unit, cable and
surface unit. When connecting the end of the cord to the
box, align the plugs properly and click into place. You
will feel a gentle clockwise twist. A proper connection is
achieved once the twist is complete.
2- insert the battery having care of the polarity
3- turn on the Bluetooth device search option on your cellular
phone
4- press the button on the underwater unit and keep it pressed
until you see on the surface unit both LEDs flashing (one
per time)
5- after a little time your cell phone will recognize the
Bluetooth device BT-200. Activation distance may vary
6- accept it inserting the code 0000 (four times zero)
7- ready to record the desired names (if necessary) following
the cellular instructions.
These instructions have to be followed only for the first time!!
All the other times all you will have to do is:
1- connect everything
2- insert the battery
3- put the cellular in the box
4- press the button on the underwater unit a few seconds until
you see on the surface unit the red light on

How to use the ALPHA UWCP
Before Diving, turn on the Bluetooth of your cellular phone.
Install a 9 volt battery in the dedicated compartment of the box
and check the Bluetooth connection. The Bluetooth activation
distance may vary, depending on your Bluetooth service
capabilities.
Have the underwater unit installed in the full face mask (Ocean
REEF) with the microphone well positioned and facing the front
of the visor
If you have to record a name (it depends on your cellular phone)
remember to do it WHILE WEARING THE MASK. This
operation is necessary to recognize the proper audio while
diving. The closed volume of the mask may change ones
pronunciation and it is important to record the name as it
would be heard while diving. The number of “voice dial’
names/phone numbers depends on the characteristics of
individual cellular phones.

The diver may call any of the recorded name/numbers by
pressing the PTT. After the cell phone confirmation signal is
heard, pronounce the name of the person you would like to call.
The acceptance of the name will be confirmed by the repetition
of the name from the cell phone in the speaker. At this time the
diver will hear the calling tone and eventually the answer. The
conversation is in full duplex. The diver does not need to press
any button during the conversation (hands free communication).
To interrupt the call, simply press the PTT button.
An incoming call is understood by the typical phone ringing in
the speaker (remember to turn on the ring tone).
The conversation will begin by pressing the PTT.
