Unless otherwise stated, all the content of this documenta-
tion applies to the appliances listed on the title page. This
documentation describes appliances that are not always
in the standard scope of delivery. Therefore there may be
di󰀨erences to your specic appliance.

1.3 Units of measurement
Note
In these documents, unless otherwise specied,
all linear measurements (e.g. in tables and illus-
trations) are given in millimetres.
1.4 Specied performance gures
The performance gures of the appliance indicated in
these documents (text, tables and diagrams) have been
calculated according to standardised measurement con-
ditions. However, these measurement conditions often do
not completely correspond to the plant-specic conditions
applicable in the respective user‘s system. System-specic
factors that can a󰀨ect the conditions include, for example,
the specic design of the system, the age of the system
and the actual ow rates. For this reason, the stated perfor-
mance gures can di󰀨er from plant-specic performance
data.
The stated performance gures can be conrmed only
if the measurements taken for the appliance are carried
out according to the relevant standardised measurement
conditions.
2. Safety
2.1 Intended use
The appliance is intended for heating DHW in a domestic
environment. It can safely be used by persons who have re-
ceived no instruction. The appliance can similarly be used
in a non-domestic environment such as commercial prem-
ises, as long as it is used in the same intended manner.
Any use of the appliance that is di󰀨erent from or goes
beyond this is not regarded as intended use. “Intended
use” also includes observing this documentation and the
documentation of any accessories used.
2.2 General safety information
Observe the following safety information and instructions
for the appliance.
►Only qualied contractors should carry out the elec-
trical work and installation of this appliance. Only
qualied contractors may open the appliance.
►Commissioning and maintenance of the appliance
may be carried out only by OCHSNER Customer Ser-
vice or by customer service partners authorised by
OCHSNER.
►The qualied contractor is responsible for compliance
with all relevant regulations during installation and
commissioning.
►Operate the appliance only when fully installed and
with all safety devices tted.
►Alterations to the appliance may be carried out only
by OCHSNER Customer Service or by customer ser-
vice partners authorised by OCHSNER.
►Before commencing electrical connection and instal-
lation work, the heat pump system must be isolated
from the power supply.
►The appliance must not be used as a step or plat-
form. Do not climb on the appliance or place any
loads on it.
►The water in the DHW tank can be heated to temper-
atures above 60°C. If the outlet temperature exceeds
43°C, there is a risk of scalding.

only by OCHSNER Customer Service or by cus-
tomer service partners authorised by OCHSNER.

3. Device description
The appliance is a hot water heat pump and is designed
for installation in existing water heating systems. The ap-
pliance is a split appliance suitable for external DHW tanks
with a capacity of up to 500 litres.
The heat pump‘s heating output is sized for supplying
DHW to households of up to 5 people. When installing the
appliance, it is important to check whether any existing
DHW tank is su󰀩ciently sized to cover short-term water
consumption requirements.
The hot water heat pump with energy extraction from the
air is a multifunctional appliance. The appliance can be
used, for example, for air conditioning or dehumidication
of a room (e.g. storage cellar) or for mechanical ventilation
from wet rooms.
An electric immersion heater or a boiler can be used as an
alternative method of heating the water.
At average operating conditions, the heat pump heats the
DHW tank (~300 l) from +10°C to +52°C within 9 hours.

If you disconnect the appliance from its power sup-
ply, it is not protected against frost and corrosion.

The thermal output of the heat pump is de-
pendent on the temperature of the heat source
(supply air) and the set DHW temperature. Its
suitability for use with a 500 l DHW tank must
be assessed in advance by the system install-
er. OCHSNER accepts no liability for planning
errors.
3.1 Name plate
To identify your heat pump, a name plate is attached to the
upper right-hand casing section of the heat pump on the
outside of the appliance.
3.2 Temperature sensor
The temperature sensors used are of the PTC type.

4. Making settings
4.1 Touchscreen
Settings are made using the touchscreen on the appliance.
The touchscreen consists of an input unit and a display
unit.
►The input unit consists of a capacitive touchscreen
with 6 buttons.
►The display unit consists of symbols and a 4-digit
7-segment display.

The main display eld indicates the tank temperature.

4.3.2 DHW mode selection

Note
The DHW rapid heating is independent of the set
time program. Heating to the anti-legionella tem-
perature takes place immediately.
When the target value is reached, the system is
automatically reset to the previous operating pro-
gram.
4.3.3 DHW charging
DHW charging takes place when:
►there is a heat demand
►at least 1 heat generator is active
►no outage or fault is present
►the time program does not block DHW charging
►no PSU shutdown has occurred
A heat demand exists if temperature T1 (DHW tank centre)
is 5 K (default setting, cannot be changed) lower than the
DHW target temperature. DHW charging takes place with
all active heat generators (heat generators that are set in
automatic mode).

4.3.4 Time program
Two start times and two stop times can be dened using
the time program. These can be individually activated and
combined for each day.
Note
If all parameters are set to the default setting, the
heat pump operates continuously.
Note
For better understanding, an example time pro-
gram has been congured. You can use this as a
reference when conguring your own time program
to your specic requirements.

4.4 Anti-legionella mode
Anti-legionella mode is used to meet the hygienic require-
ments regarding legionella and is implemented using the
heat pump and other active heat generators. Anti-legionel-
la mode is deactivated by default and can be congured
by the system user.
An interval program (int) and a time program (date) are
available for anti-legionella mode
Note
In order for the heat pump to operate correctly in
anti-legionella mode, it must always be supplied
with power. In the event of a power failure (e.g.
due to PSU shutdown via tari󰀨 contactor), the set
interval may be longer.
Note
The DHW mode has higher priority than the anti-le-
gionella mode. If the “DHW” operating mode is not
active, anti-legionella mode is not started.

Note
In order for a switching point to switch, it needs to
be “overrun”.
Example: If a switching point is set on Wednesday
at 18:00 for Wednesday at 09:00, this will not be
taken into account until a week later, when it is
“overrun” at 09:00.

4.6 Ventilation mode
The fan can be switched on for ventilation independently of
heat pump operation. The fan speed and a time program
can be set. The fan can also be switched on and o󰀨 via an
external contact at input E3 (parameter B15=12).

In heat pump mode, the fan always runs at nominal
speed. If air is supplied from rooms heated all year
round (e.g. wet rooms), the nominal speed can be
reduced during heat pump operation.
Note
Ventilation mode is not a󰀨ected by a PSU shut-
down.

4.8 Evaporator defrosting
If the air inlet temperature is too low, the heat pump evap-
orator is defrosted as required. For this purpose, the
evaporator temperature is measured and monitored with
temperature sensor F3.
►Defrosting is automatically activated when the
evaporator temperature is below 0°C for more than
120 minutes.
►Defrosting causes the evaporator temperature to rise
again.
►The defrosting process is logged as successful if
the evaporator temperature rises above 6°C within
20 minutes. If this is not the case, the defrosting pro-
cess is logged as unsuccessful. Two further attempts
are made.
►If these defrost attempts are also unsuccessful, the
heat pump stops and error message Er47 appears on
the display.
►Press the OK button to acknowledge error message

Defrosting can be started manually if the evaporator tem-

Set the heat pump operating mode to “defr” to start manual
defrosting.
Once defrosting has completed successfully, the heat

integrated electric immersion heater.
Note
When the electric immersion heater is switched
on, it regulates to the target value independently
of the heat pump (or other heat generators). Also
in anti-legionella mode.

4.10 PSU and smart grid function
