Introduction
The TomoScan FOCUS LT (LT stands for “latest technology”) phased array data
acquisition instrument is part of a high-performance ultrasonic testing (UT)
inspection system. The TomoScan FOCUS LT uses phased array and conventional
ultrasound to perform nondestructive inspections. It is designed to be controlled
using the TomoView software, which can manage up to three TomoScan FOCUS LT
instruments in parallel.
Key Features
TomoScan FOCUS LT instrument’s key features include:
• 16, 32, or 64 focusing channels
• Up to 128 channels with linear amplifier for phased array inspection
• Real-time data compression
• High pulsing rate
• High data throughput (up to 8000 8-bit A-scans/second of 512 points each)
• Flexible interface with scanners and manipulators
The TomoScan FOCUS LT is available in five different configurations, which are
identified by two numbers separated by a colon. The first number indicates the
number of focusing channels; the second number indicates the total number of
elements in the configuration. Table 2 on page 14 shows possible TomoScan
FOCUS LT configurations.
