SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
DEFINITIONS:
Hazardous voltages have been defined as the ranges: 75...1500 Volt DC, and
50...1000 Volt AC.
Technicians are qualified persons educated or trained to mount, operate, and
also trouble-shoot technically correct and in accordance with safety regulations.
Operators, being familiar with the contents of this manual, adjust and operate
the knobs or potentiometers during normal operation.
RECEIPT AND UNPACKING:
Unpack the module without damaging it and make sure that the manual always
follows the module and is always available. The packing should always follow the
module until this has been permanently mounted.
Check at the receipt of the module whether the type corresponds to the one
ordered.
ENVIRONMENT:
Avoid direct sun light, dust, high temperatures, mechanical vibrations and shock,
and rain and heavy moisture. If necessary, heating in excess of the stated limits
for ambient temperatures should be avoided by way of ventilation.
All modules fall under Installation Category II, Pollution Degree 1, and Insulation
Class II.
MOUNTING:
Only technicians, who are familiar with the technical terms, warnings, and in-
structions in the manual and who are able to follow these, should connect the
module.
Should there be any doubt as to the correct handling of the module, please con-
tact your local distributor or, alternatively,

PROGRAMMING:
During programming, the measuring and connection of external voltages must
be carried out according to the specifications of this manual and the manual for
the unit to be programmed.
The technician must use tools and instruments that are safe to use.

WARNING
When connected to SYSTEM 5000 by the communication cable,
this module can get connected to hazardous electric voltages.
Ignoring this warning can result in severe personal injury or me-
chanical damage.
To avoid the risk of electric shock and fire, the safety instructions
of this manual must be observed and the guidelines followed.
The module must only be applied as described in the following.
Prior to the commissioning of the module, this manual must be
examined carefully.
Only qualified personnel (technicians) should use this module.
If the module is used in a manner not specified by the manufac-
turer, the protection provided by the module may be impaired.
WARNING
The following operations must only be carried out on a module
that is not connected to SYSTEM 5000 and a PC.
Troubleshooting the module.
Replacement of batteries.
Repair of the module must be done by PR electronics A/S only.
WARNING
The female communication connector of SYSTEM 5000 is con-
nected to the input terminals on which dangerous voltages can
occur. It must only be connected to programming unit Loop
Link by way of the fixed communication cable.
SYMBOL IDENTIFICATION:
Triangle with an exclamation mark: Warning/demand.
Potentially lethal situations.
The CE mark proves the compliance of the module with the re-
quirements of the EU directives.
The double insulation symbol shows that the module is
protected by double or reinforced insulation.

NORMAL OPERATION:
Operators are only allowed to adjust and operate modules that are safely fixed in
panels, etc., thus avoiding the danger of personal injury and damage. This means
there is no electrical shock hazard, and the module is easily accessible.
CLEANING:
When disconnected, the module may be cleaned with a cloth moistened with
distilled water or ethyl alcohol.
LIABILITY:
To the extent that the instructions in this manual are not strictly observed, the
customer cannot advance a demand against PR electronics A/S that would
otherwise exist according to the concluded sales agreement.

GUIDELINES ON HOW TO REPLACE
BATTERIES AND CONNECT SYSTEM 5000
AND PC COM.PORT
REPLACEMENT OF BATTERY:
Remember to demount the installed communication cable in SYSTEM 5000 as
it can get connected to hazardous electric voltages. By loosening the screw to
the battery cover the battery can be replaced. Please see picture 1.
Use battery: 9 Volt type PP3, dimensions: 26 x 17 x 67 mm.
Different names: 6GF22, MN1604, 6LR61, 6AM6, Eblock.
CONNECTION:
Connection to SYSTEM 5000 and PC is shown in pictures 2 and 3.
The female programming connector in SYSTEM 5000 is accessible by opening
the front as shown in picture 3 in the manual following the 5000 module.

The PReset 5000 software is based on Turbo Vision, which will operate on most
IBM-compatible PCs with the following minimum configuration:
Memory: Min. 512 kB accessible memory
Display:CGA, HCG, EGA, or VGA
Operating system: DOS 3.1 or later versions
Printer (option): Epson or IBM compatible ASCII printer
Mouse (option): Microsoft compatible mouse (MOUSE.COM)

INSTALLATION FOR WINDOWS®95/98/-NT
THE SOFTWARE ON THE CD-ROM
The PReset software is designed for a Windows®95/98/-NT environment and
is used for configuring PC-programmable PR modules. If the module cannot be
programmed by the Windows®95/98/-NT software, the PReset DOS version
automatically starts. This version is available on the CD-ROM in the PReset.DOS
folder. All new products of PReset will be designed for the Windows®95/98/-NT
environments.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Windows®95/98/-NT environment with the following recommendations:
Memory . . . . . . . . . . 16 MB
Resolution . . . . . . . . 800 x 600
Harddisk. . . . . . . . . . 12 MB
INSTALLATION
PReset will be installed on your harddisk, and the registry will be updated with
the necessary information on the program. A PReset icon will automatically be
placed on the desktop. The earlier DOS version will automatically be installed in
the C:\PReset folder.
1. Insert the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive and the dialogue AutoRun
is automatically shown.
2. Click Setup. When the installations program has been started, on-
screen guidelines will guide you through the rest of the installation.
3. If AutoRun is disabled in Windows®95/98/-NT, click the Start
button, select [Run] and type Install.exe.

1. In Program Control select the »File« and »Run« menus and click
»Browse«.
2. Change to the PRESET.DOS folder on the CD-ROM drive.
3. Double-click »Install.bat«.
How to make a PReset icon:
1. Start File Manager. Both the File Manager and Program Manager
must be open at the same time.
2. Find the file C:\Preset\Preset.exe.
3. Drag Preset.exe to the required group in Program Manager.
How to change the PReset icon:
1. Click the icon once. Select »Files« and click »Program parameters«.
2. Click »Change icon«.
3. Type C:\Preset\Preset.ico.
4. Click »OK« three times.
Run PReset:
1. Double-click the PReset icon.
