4Follow the EZ Setup steps.
When the extender joins the WiFi network, the Link Rate LED
lights green. The first time the extender joins a WiFi network, the
extender WiFi network name (SSID) changes to that network name,
with _EXT at the end. For example:
If the extender does not join the WiFi network, move the extender to a
different location with a better WiFi signal. For example, you might
need to move it higher, or to a position that is more in the open.
WiFi network name: MyNetworkName
Extender network name: MyNetworkName_EXT

6
Join the Extender WiFi Network
After you install the extender, you can join the extender WiFi network.
To join the extender network:
1Take your computer or wireless device to the location with poor
WiFi coverage.
2Find the new extender network name (MyNetworkName_EXT).
3Select this network and enter the same WiFi password that you use
for your home network.
If you cannot join the extender network, check the extender LEDs
to make sure that it is connected to your home network and is in a
location with a good connection. See Extender Performance on
page 7.

7
Extender Performance
Make sure that the PC to Extender LED lights green before you
check the Link Rate LED for performance.
The Link Rate LED indicates performance.
• Green indicates the best performance.
• Amber indicates a workable performance.
• Red indicates a poor connection or no connection.
• If the Link Rate LED is off, the extender is not connected to the
WiFi network.
To improve the extender performance:
1Move the extender closer to the router or to a different location
with a better line of sight to the router.
2As you move the extender, check the Link Rate LED and the PC to
Extender LED until you find a good location.

8

you through these steps:
