Marvell Qdeo™ Video Chip for 1080p Upscaling and
Processing
The BD-SP808 offers full 1080p upscaling of standard video sources
such as 576p, 720p, and 1080i. Interlaced-to-progressive conversion
and scaling are performed by a high-quality Marvell Qdeo video-
processing chip. Qdeo is a versatile video processor that uses
algorithms designed to erase video noise and artifacts such as jaggies
and feathering. Played back on a compatible wide-screen display, your
Blu-ray Discs and DVDs will look more detailed and cinematic than
ever.
High-Definition Surround Sound from DolbyÆ TrueHD and
DTS-HD Master Audio™ Essential
The BD-SP808’s onboard decoders bring you the lossless, studio-
master quality of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio Essential
carried on Blu-ray Disc. The player outputs these formats in pure
bitstream form via HDMIÆ 1.3a, meaning nothing is lost from the
original recording.

Full 1080p Video and Playback of AVCHD and DivXÆ
HD
Blu-ray Disc delivers the most vivid and detailed video images ever
seen in home cinema. A disc played back on the BD-SP808 can be
output in full high-definition 1080p at 24 frames per second—the
native frame rate for movies. The BD-SP808 also offers compatibility
with the increasingly popular AVCHD and DivX HD formats, which
employ high-compression video codecs. Now you can enjoy big-screen
playback of high-definition video clips stored on a disc or SD card.
High-Grade Build Quality with Rigid Chassis
The BD-SP808 is crafted with typical Onkyo attention to build quality.
Internal components that can cause vibrations are fixed directly onto
the high-rigidity chassis or near the feet of the unit. Since the feet
themselves have a large circumference, they provide further protection
from vibrations. The BD-SP808 features an independent digital and
analog block design that reduces electromagnetic interference from the
system power, drive mechanism, and signal-processing circuits. Further
proof of this player’s superior build quality comes in the form of gold-
plated audio and video outputs and 19 mm-pitch audio outputs for
connection to high-grade cable.
