) CONNECTING THE RECEIVER WITH ANTENNA
Connect the coaxial cable to “ANTENNA” terminal marked at the rear of the
receiver.
All cable connectors should be finger-tightened; do not use any kind of wrench
on the cable over connectors.
The cable should be 75 Ω impedance coaxial twisted at the end with an “IEC”
type connector.
2) CONNECTING THE RECEIVER TO TV
To connect the receiver with your television, connect the SCART connector
marked “TV” to the respective SCART port of the TV
3) CONNECTING YOUR VCR
To connect a VCR, the receiver is provided with a SCART terminal on the rear
marked "VCR." Using a SCART connector, the VCR can be connected to the
receiver.
3. HOW TO CONNECT YOUR RECEIVER
Please DO NOT plug in the main power supply cord until you
have finished all the connections.

4) CONNECTING EXTERNAL AUDIO HI-FI SYSTEM
To connect any external Audio Hi-Fi system, the receiver is provided with two
RCA connectors at the rear, marked “Audio L and R” respectively to
connect the left and right audio.
In case of Audio Hi-Fi systems with digital audio input, please connect to
S/PDIF.
5) CONNECTING YOUR ANALOG RECEIVER
To facilitate users using analog receivers to view analog channels, the receiver
has been provided with a loop through terminal marked as “LOOP OUT”.
Connect the coaxial cable from this terminal to the RF input terminal of your
analog receiver.
By keeping the receiver in standby, you will be able to tune and view analog
channels from your analog receiver.

air, most TV and radio/music channels are
available on a subscription basis and can only be
enjoyed via a Conditional Access component.
The Conditional Access component is a
removable Smart Card.
Please note that the gold chip on the Smart Card
should face downwards and inwards when you
insert it into the Smart Card Interface.

: This button is used to toggle between normal and muted sound.

: The Teletext button opens and closes the Teletext for the current
channel.
: This button is used to easily input multiple digit TV channel numbers.
: These buttons are used to enter numerical values and to select a
specific channel directly by entering its number.
: The Options button is used to open and close a menu of temporary
viewing options (Like subtitling and language options) for the current
programme.
: Exits any open menu or information mode and goes back to watching

: To go back one level at a time within menus or screens and save any

: Cursor up and down - Used to move up and down the highlight in
menues. While watching TV or listening to Radio, these buttons can be used to
go to the next or previous channel.

watching TV or listening to Radio, this button can also be used to adjust the
volume.
: The select button is used to confirm or select things. While watching TV, this
can be used to display a basic list of TV channels.

: The info button displays a short information (if transmitted) about the current

6. WATCHING TV
This chapter describes how you watch TV and listen to radio using the receiver.
Thanks to the advantages of the digital TV transmissions, extra features are added to
the broadcast, such as information about the current and next programme and extra
options; like the ability to chose between different languages for the audio and
subtitling.
Note: Available options may vary, depending on the actual broadcast of the extra
material for the current programme.
The general principle is that one button press opens a function, pressing it again closes
it. This is valid for most functions, such as the information banner, the TV Guide and
the menu

General watching
• Use the and buttons to go the next and previous channel respectively.
• Use the and buttons to adjust the volume, and the button to
toggle muted sound on / off.
• Use the number buttons to input a channel number.
Press the button to display the information banner about the current
programme. Press it again to hide the banner.
Pressing the button from when the banner is open, will go directly to the TV
Guide with the current programme opened in extended information mode. If you
press without an open information banner, you will be taken to the TV Guide
overview mode.
Note: Programme information will only be displayed if it is included in the current
transmission. Otherwise a "No information" message is shown.

.B. Options
Pressing the button will open the "Options" menu.
Depending on your current system settings, and what extra information is
currently broad-casted for the watched channel, more or less options are
displayed.
• Subtitle lang.: Select the preferred language for the subtitling and
programme information. To turn subtitles off, select "None" - If the
preferred language is not available, the first available language will be
used instead.
Note: A " " symbol indicates that the selected subtitling language is
for hearing impaired.
• Audio language: Some TV programmes send multiple audio tracks, for
example in two different languages. By selecting a preferred audio
language, the receiver can select the most suitable audio track for you.
If there are no audio tracks available that match your settings, another
language may be used instead.
• Zoom: This function helps you to adjust the TV picture to better suit
your type of TV. For a 4:3 type of TV, this is equal to what is commonly
known as Letterbox and Fullscreen format. However, if you have a 16:9
type of TV, this function can also be used to zoom the TV picture to fit
better.
Note: Only the TV picture format is changed, any subtitling or menues
are left unaffected.
• Channel List: Change to another list with the and button.

6.D. Digital Teletext
• Pressing will open the teletext pages mode, if teletext is transmitted at
the current channel.
• Use the 0..9 numeric buttons to enter a new page number.
• Use and to move a highlight focus between the page numbers
displayed on the screen, and open the highlighted page.
• To go to the next or previous transmitted teletext page, press or .
• To view more, optional teletext options, press .
• Exit the teletext mode by pressing .
• Browse text page history using and .
• Go to the index page (usually page 100) by pressing 0.
Note: The receiver also passes the teletext pages through to your TV. This
technique is known as VBI (vertical blank insertions). This means that you can
also use your TV's remote control to open and use the teletext pages, using the
built in teletext functions in the TV. VBI works with most new TV sets, but not all:
Try to adjust "Signal:" setting to "RGB" or "CVBS" in the "TV and Audio Settings"
menu.
Note: Some changes under "Options" are only valid for the programme you are
currently watching. If you leave the programme, the settings will be gone. To read
more about default options to these settings, please see the "System Configuration"
help chapter.

The TV Guide
• The Daily Guide conveniently shows all the TV programmes of a specific day
for one channel at a time. The buttons used to navigate between channels and
different time periods are described in the footer of the view.

The TV guide starts empty and is filled with program information over a period of
time. When new information arrives, it is shown directly on screen. The time to
complete the process of fully filling the guide with data may take several minutes.
Depending on the TV network, you may not be able to watch a TV channel when
the guide is open, due to the fact that all TV guide information is broadcasted on a
special TV channel.

. Lock Channel: Sets a permanent lock on the current channel.
This option is only available if "Channel lock active:" is set to "On" in the "Parental
Control" menu.
If a locked channel is encountered it can be unlocked by pressing the button
and typing the PIN code. Please note that this is only a temporary unlock which is
reset when a another channel is selected.
To permanently remove the lock from a locked channel, see the "Parental Control"
menu.

odifying existing lists works in the same way as when you create a new list: You can
change the name of the list, what channels are included and what order they appear in.
All defined lists are listed at the top of the "Favourite Lists" menu. To open a menu
where you have the options to delete or modify the properties for a favourite list (such as
the name or included channels) select it in the list and press the button.
If you want to delete a list, you can choose to either delete the one by one, or all at
once. Select "Delete" to delete the currently selected favourite list. If several lists are
defined, you can select "Delete all" to delete all lists. To avoid deletion by mistake, a
confirmation question will be displayed.

Creating a new list.
You can create a new (or additional) favourite list by selecting "Create a new Favourite
List" from the menu. You can create multiple favourite lists.
2. FAVOURITE Lists
Favourite lists are used to create your own personal channel li
sts. The lists are a good
way to hide unwanted channels or to reorganize the order of the channels. All lists have
a name that identify them, and you can change the favourite list when watching TV by
using "Options" menu.
Select "Arrange channels" to reach a view where you can arrange the order of the
channels in the favourite list.
• To select between the channels, use the and buttons. To move the
selected channel to a new position, press . To exit the view, move the focus to
the menu on the right by pressing
and then select either "Save" or "Cancel".
Save - Select "Save" to store and activate all changes you have done in this menu.
• Menu language: Select the preferred language for the system menues.
• Text size: Select the size of typeface used for the text in menues, guide, etc. Hint:
A smaller typeface might be harder to read, but more text can fit on the screen. (Note:
This feature may not be available on all receiver software versions)
• Audio language: Some TV programmes send multiple audio tracks, for example in
two different languages. If there are no audio tracks available that match your settings,
another language may be used instead.
• Subtitle lang.: Select the preferred language for the subtitling and programme
information. To turn subtitles off, select "None":
Note: A " " symbol indicates that the selected subtitling language is for hearing
impaired.
• Extra subtitling: If this feature is turned on, extra subtitling may be displayed that is
more suitable for hearing impaired, if they are broad-casted for the current programme.

3. Parental Control
Timers are used to program the receiver to wake up at a certain time and tune to a
specified channel.
Timers are normally used to record a TV programme on the video recorder, or to
pre-program the receiver for other reasons (wake-up, etc). A set timer causes the
receiver to wake up from standby mode at the specified time and change the
channel to the specified one. Please note that the VCR must be programmed
separately.
If you use a timer to record a TV show to i.e. a video recorder (VCR), also remember
to program your video recorder in parallel at the same time as you have set the
timer in the receiver.
Note: If you use the SCART connector from the receiver to your VCR, most VCR's
should be set to record from 0 channel.
To open the "Parental Control" menu
you will be asked to enter your access
PIN code. All parental control features
work on a locking concept with the
PIN code as your entrance key.
The PIN code is set to 0000 at the
factory!
• Box lock active: Using this option the whole receiver may be blocked: To unlock
the receiver the PIN code must be entered. The receiver stays in an unlocked state
until it goes back to standby mode or is turned off.
• Channel lock active: If the channel lock feature is active, individual channels
may be marked as locked. To temporary unlock a locked channel, the button
can be pressed and the PIN code entered. Note: The channel stays in its unlocked
state until a channel change is done.
• Lock Channels: In the "Lock Channels" view, you can control which channels
should be locked by a PIN code.
• Age rating control: Toggle the age rating control on or off with and .
If you activate the age control, also specify a suitable age level under "Age Limit:".
• Age Limit: If a TV-program is shown on the selected TV-channel that has an
age limit above the setting, a PIN code will be required to watch it.
Be aware that not all Service Providers send the necessary codes for this
function to work. To increase or decrease the age setting, use and .
• Change PIN code: Use this function to change your PIN code to some
other four digit number.
• New PIN: Enter a new four digit PIN code by using the (0) to (9)
buttons on the remote control.
• Verify new PIN code: Re-enter the same new four digit PIN code
once again to verify that you got it right.
5. System Configuration
System Configuration menues are used to control the more advanced features of
the receiver, such as doing regional settings, channel searches and other system
settings.

5.A. TV and Audio Settings
• TV Format: Select the type of TV you have (4:3 or 16:9) by using
and . Use 16:9 if you have a widescreen TV.
• Signal: This setting only affects SCART-cable connected receivers. The "RGB"
mode usually gives a better and sharper picture, but some older TVs can only use
the "CVBS" mode.
The "RGB" mode usually require a special (fully connected) SCART cable. Some
receiver models also include the "S-Video" option. If this option is selected, the
picture may appear better, but require a S-Video compatible TV and cable to work.
• RF Channel: This setting is only affecting receivers equipped with an RF
antenna output contact. By using the and button, you can change the
outgoing RF channel number. This can be useful on olders televisions to get a
picture on a certain channel, or to improve picture quality.
5.B. Regional Settings
• Country: Select the country where this receiver will be used with and
.
This will affect the time zone settings.
 Clock adjustment : Select “ anual” or “Automatic” mode using and
key. If you want to change the time manually in time offset menu, please set
this “ anual” mode.
Time offset: If needed, adjust the time offset to fit your local time. Change
the time in 15 minute steps by using and .
In the "TV and Audio Settings" view
you can modify the properties of the
audio and video signals to suit your
TV and audio equipment.
Using the regional settings, you
may modify settings to suite your
geographical position or cultural
settings. Among other things, this
can be the date and time format.
• OSD Size: The "OSD Size:" setting can be used to specify how much of the TV
picture area the receiver can use for graphics and text. Older TV's usually show
less of the picture, while new ones display more. Example: If you have a modern
TV and select the "Large" setting, more information can be shown on the TV
screen, for example in the TV guide.
• Dolby Digital output: Select the audio format for digital audio output.
The factory setting is PC format. Note: If you have selected Dolby Digital
to On, and the sound for a TV programme is transmitted in Dolby™ Digital
format, no sound will be output to SCART or RCA-cables.

5.C. Channel Search
Channel searches are done to update your channel table. New channels may be found
when you do a channel search.
In the "Channel Search" menu, you can select "Advanced Channel Search" or
"Automatic Channel Search".

The "Advanced Channel Search" menu allows you to manually enter channel search
parameters that you might find in TV magazines or on the Internet. This can be useful

• Bandwidth: Enter the combined bandwidth setting that should be used in
the search by using and . The bandwidth is a measure of the
information capacity of the broadcast.
Select "Automatic Channel Search" if you
would like to do a normal channel search.
All found channels that are new will be
added to the "All channels" channel list.

search by using and . The transmission mode can be either "2K"
or "8K", and is a measurement of the number of carrier waves in the
combined signal.

 Network Search: Select "Yes" if you want to the search to cover all
transponders that are connected to the specified network. Change between
"Yes" and "No" by using and buttons.


 Set to default values: To reset all values and settings in this view to their
default values, press .


 Start exact channel search: Select this item and press to start the
channel search using the specified parameters.
This is an exact search, it will only use the start Frequency and a Network
Search (If enabled in menu)
New channels
The setting for "New channels" affects the automatic reminders that appear if
the receiver detects new channels in the broadcast. In some regions and
areas, the reminder might erroneously appear even though there are no new
channels, due to differences in the digital TV broadcasts. The factory setting is
"Don't remind". To activate this feature, change to "Remind me". A technical
term for this feature is "NIT/SDT monitoring". (Note: This feature may not be
available on all receiver software versions)

Channel Search Results
A channel search may take several minutes before it is completed. All new found
channels are listed on the screen and automatically added to the "All channels"
channel list.
You can stop the search at any time by selecting the "Stop the channel search"
menu item.
If the search is finished, you can start it again by selecting "Restart the channel
search".

• The options under the "System aintenance" menu are used to upgrade your
receiver to a new software version (if broadcasted) or to re-install your system from
scratch.
• To upgrade the receiver software, select "Software Update" from the menu. New
software may include new or improved features for the receiver.
Note: It may take several minutes to upgrade the receiver - Never turn the
receiever off while upgrading. Also avoid to disconnect the antenna cable, or using
the remote control. Failure to upgrade the software may result in a damaged receiver
that must be sent for a service.
• To re-install the receiver, and start the complete installation procedure from
scratch, select "Reinstall" from the menu. If you do a reinstallation, all your previous
settings, including favourite channel lists, will be erased and set to factory default.
