plants, irrigation, hydraulic works and hydro- l ctric pow r
plants.
From siz s 6” x 6” (150mm x 150mm) to 48” x 48”
(1200mm x 1200mm) , th MU mod l has a uniqu s al
d sign that can achi v minimal qual s ating and
uns ating (bidir ctional) l akag rat s. Siz s 52” x 52”
(1300mm x 1300mm) up to 80” x 80” (2000mm x
2000mm) ar availabl in both uni-dir ctional (only
suitabl for s ating wat r h ads) and bi-dir ctional
configurations.
Th l akag rat is 50% or b tt r of th maximum
allowabl r comm nd d by AWWA (C561-04) und r
normal conditions. Orbinox also d signs and manufactur s
th MU Slid Gat in larg r siz s, for mor d manding
s rvic conditions and maintains a l akag rat b low th

Non-Rising Stem Configuration
As standard, non-rising st m gat configurations ar us d
with s lf-contain d fram d signs. Th r for , th st m
xt nsion do s not support th axial load (only torqu ) and
l ss wall brack ts ar r quir d.
As a g n ral rul , a st m guid should b install d v ry 10
f t (3 m t rs) of unsupport d st m xt nsion.
Rising Stem Configuration
As standard, rising st m gat configurations ar us d with
op n-fram d signs. Th r for , th st m xt nsion has to
support th axial load wh n th gat is op rat d. In
cons qu nc , th us of st m guid s is critical to avoid any
buckling failur . As a g n ral rul , a st m guid should b
install d v ry 6 1/2 f t (2 m t rs) of unsupport d st m
xt nsion.

Installation:
Orbinox MU Slid Gat s ar install d by m ans of anchor
bolts. D p nding on th siz and working conditions th y
shall b ith r of th m chanical or ch mical typ (s tabl
b low).
In ord r to avoid l akag b tw n th concr t wall and th
fram , Orbinox r comm nds th us of construction s alant
quival nt to Sikabond Construction S alant (200ml p r
m t r of op ning p rim t r).
Th minimum concr t str ngth shall b 3,000PSI
(20.7 MPa). Th tol ranc of th concr t construction
(flatn ss, l v ln ss and plumbn ss) shall b in
accordanc to ACI 117-10 standard.
