NEVER allowchildren to operate this logsplitter. NEVERallow adults lacking proper instructions andunderstanding to
operate this log splitter.
KEEP allpeople and petsa minimumof10 feet awayfrom your work areawhen operating this logsplitter. Only the operator
is to be near the log splitter during use.
If a helper is assisting in loading logs, NEVER actuate the control until the helper is clear of the work area.

PREPARATION OF THE LOG
Both ends of the log should be cut as square as possible to help prevent the log from riding out of the splitter during
operation. Do not split logs greater than 20 in. in length.
WORKAREA
NEVER operate the log splitter on slippery, wet, muddy or icy ground.
ONLY operate your log splitter on a level surface. Operating on a slope could cause the log splitter to roll over or logs to fall
off.
ALWAYS keep children away from the log splitter.All visitors should be kept a safe distance from the work area.
NEVER operate your log splitter in a damp or rainy environment to avoid electric shock or short circuit.
ALWAYSblock thewheels toprevent movementof thelog splitterwhile inoperation.
ONLY operate yourlogsplitter in daylightor undergoodartificial light.
ALWAYS keep the work area clean. Remove split wood around your log splitter immediately so that you don’t stumble
overit.Clutteredareasandbenches invite accidents.

ALWAYS ensure themotor is properly grounded orapplyprotectiondevice. Only use rubber-jacketed cableof sufficient lead
cross section as an extension cable.
ALWAYS split wood in the direction of the grain only.
ALWAYS hold the sides of the log when loading it on the splitter.
KNOW how to stop the log splitter and disengage the controls before operating it.
NEVER placehands,feet or any body part betweenthe ramand splitting wedgeduring forward orreverse stroke.Serious
injury or death could result.
ALWAYS keep hands away from the ram, wedge and partly split logs.
NEVER straddleorstepover the log splitter during operation.
NEVER movethe log splitterwhilethe motor isrunning. Shutoff the motor evenif you are leavingthelog splitter forashort
periodoftime.
NEVER leavethemachine unattended during operation. Turnpower offand waituntil itcomes toa completestop.
ALWAYS operatethis log splitter fromthe “operatorzone.”This is the areabehindthe wheels and controlhandle.
ALWAYS make sure the power switch is in the OFF position before plugging in the cord to avoid unintentional starting.

NEVER reach or bend over the log splitter to pick up a log.
NEVER try to split two logs on top of each other.
NEVER try to cross split a second log.
NEVER allowonepersonto operate the valve while another ispositioning the log.
NEVER attempt to load your log splitter when the ram is in motion.
ALWAYS useyour hand to operatethecontrol lever andtheswitch. NEVER use your foot,arope or any extensiondevice.
NEVER usethis product for anythingother thansplitting wood.
NEVER useimproper accessories with this logsplitter. Checkowner’smanualfor recommended accessories.
NEVER modifythe plug providedif itwillnot fit theoutlet. Havethe proper outlet installedbya qualified electrician.
ALWAYS usea 3-wire extension cordwith 3-pronggroundedplugs and a 3-polereceptaclesthat acceptthis plug.
NEVER loosen or remove the hydraulic fittings or the cap of the hydraulic tank while the log splitter is running.
ALWAYS checkfor damaged partsbefore operation.Do notoperate untilit isrepaired.
NEVER use an extension cord longer than 25 feet. Minimum cord gage must be 16.An undersized cord will cause a drop
inlinevoltageresultingin loss of power and overheating.
NEVER stand or ride on the log splitter. Serious injury could result if the unit is tipped over or if the cutting wedge is con-
tacted.
ALWAYS keep guards in place. Donot remove.
NEVER force or push the log when splitting. It will do a better and safer job at the rate for which it was designed.
ALWAYS wearsafety glasses when operatingthis logsplitter.
ALWAYS usethe tow handle tomove thelogsplitter around.
Keep proper footing and balance at all times.

REPAIRANDMAINTENANCESAFETY
NEVER operateyour log splitterwhen it isinpoor mechanical conditionor in need ofrepair.
ALWAYS unplugthepowercablebeforeperformingany maintenance and repair.
Periodically check that all nuts, bolts, screws, hydraulic fittings and hose clamps are tightened.
NEVER alter your log splitter in any manner such as adding a rope or extenstion to the control lever or adding to the width or
height of the wedge. Such alterations may cause your log splitter to be unsafe and will void the warranty.
Performallrecommendedmaintenanceproceduresbeforeusingyour log splitter.
Replacealldamaged or worn parts immediately with theoriginal equipmentmanufacturer’s partsonly.
NEVER tamper with the motor to run it at excessive speeds. The maximum motor speed is preset by the manufacturer and
is within safety limits.
NEVER adjust the hydraulic valve. The system is preset at the factory and is within safety limits.
ALWAYS check the levelof hydraulic oil beforeoperation.
ALL replacementparts must meet manufacturer’s specifications.
ALWAYS repairor replace a damaged power cordimmediately.

FIRE PREVENTION
NEVER operateyour log splitternear a flame orspark. Hydraulic oil isflammable and can explode.
ALWAYS take a Class B fire extinguisher with you when operating this log splitter in dry areas as a precautionary
measureagainst possible flyingsparks.

TRANSPORTATION
NEVER movethis log splitter whilethe motorisrunning.
NEVER carryany cargo orwood onyourlog splitter.
NEVER allow anyone to sit or ride on your log splitter.
Becarefulwhen moving your logsplitter onrugged andrough terrain.Keep yourlog splitterupright.
HYDRAULICSAFETY
The hydraulic system of your log splitter requires careful inspection along with the mechanical parts. Be sure to
replacefrayed,kinked, cracked or otherwise damagedhydraulic components.
NEVER check for leaks of hydraulic fluid with your hand. Fluid escaping from a small hole can be almost invisible.
Escapingfluidunder pressure can have sufficientforce to penetrateskin causingserious personalinjury or evendeath.
Leaks can be detected by passing a piece of cardboard over the suspected leak and looking for discoloration.
ALWAYS seek professionalmedical attentionimmediately ifinjured byescaping hydraulicfluid.Seriousinfection or reaction
candevelopif proper medical treatment isnot administeredimmediately.
ALWAYS besuretorelieve all pressure by shutting off theengine and movingthe valvecontrol handle backand forth
should it become necessary to loosen or remove any hydraulic fitting.
NEVER removethe cap from the hydraulictank orreservoir whilethe logsplitter isrunning. Hotoil underpressure
could result in serious injury.
NEVER adjustthehydraulic valve.Thepressurerelief valve on yourlog splitteris presetat thefactory.Onlya qualified
servicetechnicianshould perform this adjustment.

ASSEMBLYINSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: Thislogsplitterwascompletelyassembledatthefactory.Theproducthasbeenfilledwithhydraulicoilatthefactory.Refertothephotoand
partslistshoulditbecomenecessarytodisassembletheunitforrepairorreplacementofparts.
Removethelogsplitterfromtheshippingcontainer.Inspectitforshippingdamage.Ifanythingisdamaged,contactyourdealerordelivering
carrier.

CAUTION: NEVER START OR RUN THE LOG SPLITTER WITHOUT OILIN THE HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR.
ALWAYS CHECK THE LEVEL OFTHE HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR BEFORE OPERATION.
NOTE: Ifhydraulicoilisdifficulttoobtain,Dextronautomatictransmissionfluidcanbesubstituted.Useonlycleanoilandtakecaretopreventdirtfrom
enteringthehydraulicreservoir. DonotmixAW32hydrualicfluidwithDextrontransmissionfluid. LogsplitterisshippedwithAW32hydraulicoil.
DrainthesystemifyouwishtouseDextrontransmissionfluid.
Failure to loosen the bleed screw will cause pressure to build up in the hydraulic tank and could damage the seals
and affect the operation of the log splitter.
Vent Plug
IMPORTANT: Before operating the log splitter turn the bleed screw as shown below one or two turns to allow air to be
released from the hydraulic system.Aflow of air through the bleed screw should be detectable while the
log splitter is in use.
Close the bleed screw after operation. Make sure that the bleed screw is closed before and during moving.
Hydraulic fluid may leak through thr bleed screw opening if the bleed screw is not fully tightened.

1) Placethelogsplitteronasturdy,levelsurface.Blockthewheelstopreventmovementofthelogsplitterduringoperation.
2) Makesurethehandleisfreeofoil,greaseandresins.
3) Oilthewedgeandthetopofthebeamforsmootheroperation.
4) Ensuretheequipmentisinsafeworkingcondition.Operatetheunitwithoutloadingtomakesureitisworkingnormally. Checkallnuts,bolts
andhydraulicfittingsaretight.Checktheswitch,powercableandplugfordamagetoavoidelectricshock.Checkthatallsafetyshields
areinproperposition.
5) Checkthattheoutlet’smainvoltageandfrequencymatchthedatastatedonthemodelplate(or“TechnicalSpecifications”inthismanual).
6) Pluginthepowercableandswitchonthemotor.NEVERuseanextensioncordlongerthan25feet.Minimumcordgagemustbe16.The
powersupplyforthislogsplittermusthaveaprotectiondevice(circuitbreaker)foroverorundervoltage.
7) Placealogonthebeamagainstthepushplate.Makesurethatthelogissecurelyonthebeam andupagainstthepushplate.Logsshouldbe
cutwthsquareendsandtoamaximumlengthof20in.inadvance. Alwaysuseextracarewhensplittinglogswithunsquareends.See
illustrrationbelow.
8) Twocontrolsmustbeactivatedtooperatethelogsplitter.ThehydrauliccontrolleverandtheON/OFFpushbuttonmustbeheldduring
thesplittingprocess.Ifeithercontrolisreleased,thelogsplitterwillstopoperating.
9) Loosenthebleedscrewoneortwoturnsifnecessary.
10) DepressandholdtheON/OFFpushbuttonwithyourrighthandandallowthemotortocycleuptospeed.
11) Pushdownonthehydrauliccontrollever.
12) ReleasetheON/OFFbuttonandthecontrolleverwhenthelogissplit.Thepushrodwillthenretract.

OPERATING THIS LOG SPLITTER. NEVER WEAR JEWELRY, NECKTIES OR OTHER LOOSE CLOTHING WHICH
COULD GET CAUGHTIN MOVONG PARTS.

DIRECTIONS FOR REPLACING HYDRAULIC FLUID
1) Placealargepanunderthemotorendofthelogsplitter.
2) Usetheincludedhexwrenchtoloosenthefluiddrainboltandremovetheboltwiththeattacheddipstick.
3) Raisethesplittingwedgeendofthelogsplittertoallowthefluidtodrainintopan.Lowerthesplitterwhenitisempty.(IlustrationA.)
4) Disposeoftheusedfluidproperly.
5) Raisethemotorendofthesplitterandmakesureitissecure.(IllustrationB.)
6) Pourapproximately3.2litersofapprovedhydraulicfluidintothetank.
7) Checkthefluidlevelofthedipstick.Addmorefluidifneeded.
8) Replacethefluiddrainboltandtightensecurely.
9) Lowerthelogsplitter.
STORAGE
Storethelogsplitterswitchedoffandunplugged.
Allowthelogsplittertocoolfor5minutesafterusebeforestoring.
Protectthepowersupplycablefromheat,sunshine,agressiveliquidsandsharpedges.
Storeunitinaclean,dryarea. Don’tstoreitunprotectedoutdoors,nexttocorrosivematerialsorinadampenvironment.
Storethislogsplitterwherechildrencannotstartit.
CAUTION: ALWAYS SPLIT THE LOGALONG ITS GRAIN. IF SPLITACROSS THE GRAIN SOMETYPES OF WOOD MAY
BURST OR FLY OUT RESULTING IN INJURY.
CAUTION: IFTHE LOG IS STUCK ON THE WEDGE, RELEASE BOTH HANDSAND UNPLUG THE POWER CABLE
IMMEDIATELY. KNOCK OFF THE LOG WITHAHAMMER. DO NOTUSE YOUR HANDS.
10) Whenfinishedsplittingthelogs,switchthemotoroffandunplugthepowercable.
