Safety
Instructions
Read these instructions carefully and retain them for future
use. If this appliance is passed to a third party, then these
instructions must be included.
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions
should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric
shock, and/or injury to persons including the following:
• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years
and above and person with reduced physical, sensory or
mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if
they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards
involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning
and user maintenance shall not be made by children without
supervision.
• Ensure that the appliance is fully assembled in line with the
instructions before use.
• Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary
when used by or near children. Children should be supervised
to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• Use only as described in this Orkan Instruction Manual. Do

not carry out any maintenance other than that shown in this
instruction manual, or advised by Orkan Customer Support.
• Suitable for dry location ONLY. Do not use outdoors or on wet
surfaces and do not expose to water or rain.
• The appliance must be kept at least 0.5m away from walls,
furniture and curtains to prevent it from overheating due to
poor ventilation.
• Before connecting the appliance to the power supply, check
that the power supply voltage and current rating corresponds
with the power supply details shown on the appliances rating
label.
• If the appliance is not working as it should, has received a
sharp blow, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or
dropped in water, do not use and contact Orkan Customer
Support.
• Turn o all controls before unplugging. Unplug from the
socket-outlet when not in use for extended periods. To avoid
tripping hazard, safely coil the power cable.
• Do not handle any part of the power plug or appliance with
wet hands.
• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged power cable or
power plug. Discard the appliance or return to an authorised
service facility for examination and/or repair. If the supply
cable is damaged, it must be replaced by Orkan, its service
agent or similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
• Do not stretch the power cable or place the power cable
under strain. Keep the power cable away from heated
surfaces.

• Do not route the power cable under furniture or appliances.
Do not cover the power cable with throw rugs, runners or
similar coverings. Arrange the power cable away from trac
area and where it will not be tripped over.
• Do not unplug by pulling on the power cable. To unplug, grasp
the power plug, not the power cable. The use of an extension
cable is not recommended.
• Do not put any objects into openings or the air inlet or outlet.
• Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint,
hair, and anything that may reduce airflow.
• Do not use any cleaning agents or lubricants on this appliance.
Unplug before cleaning or carrying out any maintenance.
• Do not use near furnaces, fireplaces, stoves or other high
temperature heat sources.
• Do not use the ice packs if they are damaged.
• Do not store the ice packs at a high temperature.
• Always insert batteries correctly with regard to polarity (+ and
-) marked on the battery and the appliance.
• Exhausted batteries should be immediately removed from the
appliance and properly disposed.
• Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
• Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
• Remove batteries from the appliance if it is not to be used

Intended Use
for an extended period of time unless it is for emergency
purposes.
• If batteries leak avoid contact with skin and eyes. Rinse
aected areas immediately with plenty of clean water, then
consult a doctor.
• Keep the batteries away from children. Risk of ingestion and
suocation.

Power Button
Press to turn the appliance on and o.
Oscillation Button
Press to activate the oscillating vertical louvres.
Note: Manually adjust the horizontal louvres for increased directional airflow.
Do so gently so as not to cause damage.
Fan Speed Button
Press to select between high, medium and low fan speeds.
Mode Button
Press to select between fan-only mode, night mode and natural mode.
• Fan-Only Mode: Fan speed can be manually controlled between
high, medium and low.
• Night Mode: Fan speed transitions automatically from medium to
low after a period of 15 minutes to reduce energy consumption.
• Natural Mode: Fan speed transitions automatically through high,
medium and low and o to create a natural varying airflow.
Note: Fan speed can only be manually controlled when in fan-only mode.

Timer Button
Press to set a turn-on or turn-o timer between one and seven hours.
To set a turn-on timer follow the below steps.
1. Connect the power plug to the socket-outlet and ensure that the
socket-outlet is turned on.
2. Press the timer button to set the desired time (between one and
seven hours) until turn-on.
3. The timer indicator lights will indicate the time until turn-on.
4. Select the chosen settings prior to turn-on.
5. To cancel a turn-on timer press the power button twice.
To set a turn-o timer follow the below steps.
1. Connect the power plug to the socket-outlet and ensure that the
socket-outlet is turned on.
2. Press the power button to turn the appliance on.
3. Press the timer button to set the desired time (between one and
seven hours) until turn-o.
4. The timer indicator lights will indicate the time until turn-o.
5. Select the chosen settings prior to turn-o.
6. To cancel a turn-o timer press the power button twice.
Cooling Mode Button
Press to activate cooling mode.
• Cooling Mode: Evaporative cooling mechanism activates reducing
the temperature of the surrounding air.

Before First Use
Prior to operating the appliance follow the below steps.
1. Place the appliance on a stable and level surface.
2. The appliance must be kept at least 0.5m away from walls, furniture and curtains to
prevent it from overheating due to poor ventilation.
3. Insert two AAA batteries into the remote control. Always insert batteries correctly
with regard to polarity (+ and -) marked on the battery and the appliance.
4. Follow the Filling The Water Tank instructions.
5. Place the two ice packs into the freezer.
Filling & Emptying The Water Tank
Filling The Water Tank
To fill the water tank follow the below steps.
1. Turn o the appliance and unplug the power plug from the socket-outlet.
2. Turn the water tank locking clip clockwise 90 degrees and gently pull the water
tank out of the appliance until it stops.
3. Place the two ice packs (once frozen) into the water tank.
4. Fill the water tank with fresh water to the max line.
5. Gently push the water tank back into the appliance until it stops and turn the water
tank locking clip anti-clockwise 90 degrees to lock the water tank in place.
How to Operate
Note: Do not overfill or underfill the water tank.

Emptying The Water Tank
1. Turn o the appliance and unplug the power plug from the socket-outlet.
2. Turn the water tank locking clip clockwise 90 degrees and gently pull the water
tank out of the appliance until it stops.
3. Turn the water pump locking clip clockwise 90 degrees and remove the water
pump from its fitting.
4. Fully remove the water tank from the appliance.
5. Empty and clean the water tank in accordance with the Water Tank Cleaning &
Maintenance instructions.
6. Gently push the water tank back into the appliance and replace the water pump to
its fitting. Turn the water pump locking clip anti-clockwise 90 degrees to lock the
water pump in place.
7. Gently push the water tank back into the appliance until it stops and turn the water
tank locking clip anti-clockwise 90 degrees to lock the water tank in place.
Operating
To operate the appliance connect the power plug to the socket-outlet, ensure that the
socket-outlet is turned on and turn on the appliance. Proceed to operate the appliance
in accordance with this instruction manual.
Operating Tips
To ensure maximum eciency of the appliance follow the below steps.
1. Do not use the appliance in enclosed or sealed spaces.
2. Doors and windows should be open to allow free airflow around the appliance.
3. Place the appliance near an open window or source of ventilation.

WARNING
• To prevent electric shock, turn o the appliance and unplug the power plug from
the socket-outlet before cleaning.
• During cleaning, do not immerse the electrical parts of the appliance in water or
other liquids.
• Never hold the appliance under running water
General Cleaning & Maintenance
To clean and maintain the general appliance follow the below steps.
1. Turn o the appliance and unplug the power plug from the socket-outlet.
2. Use a soft cloth to clean away any dust or debris from the surface of the appliance.
Water Tank Cleaning & Maintenance
To clean and maintain the appliances water tank follow the below steps.
1. Turn o the appliance and unplug the power plug from the socket-outlet.
2. Remove and empty the appliances water tank in accordance with the Emptying
The Water Tank instructions.
3. Decalcify the appliances water tank by adding 1 litre of warm water and 0.5 litres
of vinegar to it and swishing it around so that it covers the bottom and sides of
the water tank. Let the solution sit for at least one hour.
4. Empty the appliances water tank of the water and vinegar solution and rinse it
thoroughly with warm water.

Note: Clean and maintain the appliances water tank every two weeks to prevent the growth of
mould, mildew and bacteria. Do not use boiling water to clean the water tank.
5. Use a soft cloth to dry the appliances water tank.
6. Replace the appliances water tank.
Honeycomb Filter Cleaning & Maintenance
To clean and maintain the appliances honeycomb filter follow the below steps.
1. Turn o the appliance and unplug the power plug from the socket-outlet.
2. Gently pull on the appliances honeycomb filter casing handle to remove the
appliances honeycomb filter casing.
3. Turn the honeycomb filter locking clip anti-clockwise 90 degrees and remove
the honeycomb filter from the appliances honeycomb filter casing.
4. Use a vacuum cleaner to clean away any dust or debris from the honeycomb
filter.
5. Replace the honeycomb filter in the appliances honeycomb filter casing
and turn the honeycomb filter locking clip clockwise 90 degrees to lock the
honeycomb filter in place.
6. Replace the appliances honeycomb filter casing.

Storage
To store the appliance follow the below steps.
1. Clean the appliance in accordance with all of the Cleaning & Maintenance
instructions. Note, the water tank must be empty.
2. Connect the power plug to the socket-outlet and turn on the appliance.
3. Run the appliance in fan-only mode on the low fan speed setting for four hours to
allow the interior of the appliance to dry.
4. Turn o the appliance and unplug the power plug from the socket-outlet.
5. Remove the batteries from the remote control.
6. Cover the appliance, ice packs, remote control and batteries with a waterproof
covering and store in a safe and dry place, out of reach of children.
