1. DESCRIPTION OF THE ENCLOSURE
PREFORMA-PF substations meet the IEC 62271-202 standard for submerged transformers
with a power less than or equal to 1250 kVA.
1.1. ADJUSTMENT OF VENTS ACCORDING TO TRANSFORMER POWER
On PREFORMA-PF4 type 1000 / PF5 type 1000. Vent configuration: two lateral vents, one
rear vent and one vent on transformer door.
For power values of less than or equal to 400 kVA, the two low and high lateral vents must
be closed with the vent shutters provided for this purpose (optional), to avoid condensation
problems.
For a power values over 400 kVA, all the lateral vents must be left open.
When the metal shutters are delivered, they are installed on the lateral vents.
N.B. : The intake of fresh air is done through the ventilation grilles located at the bottom.
Therefore, care must be taken not to obstruct these holes and to leave a space of at least
200 mm between the panels in question and any wall or bank.

1.2.1. Oil Retention Tank
The sealed tank located under the transformer allows all of the oil to be recovered in the
event of transformer failure. The oil is recoverable using a pump strainer.
The volumes of the oil retention tanks are as follows:
PREFORMA-PF-3/4: 1.15 m3
PREFORMA-PF-5: 1.25 m3
1.2.2. Cable Entries
MV or LV cable entries are available on Ormazabal substations. See drawings in the annex.
MV: Diameters 180;
LV: Diameters 110;
Ground; Auxiliaries: Diameters 60.
180 mm diameters are provided for 160 mm sheaths.
Underground substations have special cable seals to guarantee the tightness of the cable
entries.
Provisional connection hatch:
A 100 mm diameter hatch, placed on the front of the substation enables the LV cables to be
run in for any provisional connection. This hatch when closed provides IP2X, open with the
cable or sheathe in place, it provides IP1X.
Substation re-supply hatch (backup):
A rectangular hatch located in the lower part and on the front of the substation allows it to be
re-supplied with LV or MV by means of a generator. With the substation in service, the hatch
placed on the runners blocks the hole and guarantees IP1X.
1.2.3. Access to the Substation
Only one door of the substation can be opened from the outside: it's the “pedestrian”
entrance, accessing the switching corridor to carry out normal switching operations. This
door isn’t fitted with an anti-panic lock.
A catch enables the access door to be locked at 90º and 180º.
The second “transformer access” door opens from the inside of the substation only by means
of three pull tabs spread over the height of the door.
The intermediate pull tab is designed so as to create a cushion to easily see the door's
position, by creating an opening angle large enough to prevent personnel thinking that it is
closed when it is just pushed back.
The closure of the “transformer” door therefore requires the intermediate pull tab to be pulled
while the other two are locked in the “pulled” position.
Ensure after closing the door that the three pull tabs are in the correct position.

1.2.5. Antenna Fixture
A position on the right lateral exterior face is reserved for a remote control interface support.
The position can be chosen at the time of the order. For aesthetic reasons, the positions are
obstructed by plugs painted in the colour of the substation.
1.2.6. Identification of the Substation
All the substations are identified by a data plate located on the Fault Detector telltale holder
plate, inside the substation.
1.3. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
1.3.1. Transformer
The PREFORMA-PF type substations take NFC52-112 transformers whose maximum
usable power is 1250 kVA adhering to the ventilation conditions seen previously. It is
possible to regulate the substation's ventilation according to the transformer’s power. For
this, removable ventilation grille shutters are provided.
Anchoring points are provided in the substation for the purposes of the transportation of the
transformer included in the substation. The assembly must be done in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions. For the transformer to be correctly positioned, the 4 wheels must
be positioned in the slots provided for this purpose.
These transformers are fitted with a system of protection against transformer internal faults of
type DGPT2 or DMCR.
These transformers are fitted with an LV cover and a locking system for the separable
connectors complemented by a lock.

1.3.2. MV switchgear
The PREFORMA-PF substations take MV boards of type HN64-S52/IEC 62271-200. The
assembly must be done in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. The number of
cubicles that can be incorporated depends on their dimensions.
On the average basis of 375 mm per functional unit, the PREFORMA-PF-4 / 5 can
incorporate 4 and 5 functional units respectively[1].
Within the limit fixed, it is possible to make an Ormazabal extension in the PREFORMA-PF
substation.
At least, the board will be made up of one switch input (distributor input) and one combined
fuse protection cubicle (protection of the transformer). Substation located at antenna.
Furthermore, the feedline break and double bypass electrical diagrams can be produced.
The protection bypass is fitted with at least one tripping coil on switch opening and locking
keys positioned on the earthing disconnector in order to ensure the safety of switching
operations during operation.
1.3.3. MV Connection
The connection must be made according to the instructions of the functional units, in
synthetic-insulated tri-polar cable according to standards NF C33-223 or NF C33-226 of
cross-section less than or equal to 240 mm2. Connections to the MV equipment depend on
the type of cubicle. They are to be executed with 400 A type separable elbow terminals of
type 400 A compliant with the NF C33-051 standard.
The MV equipment / transformer connection is made by synthetic-insulated unipolar cables
compliant with standard NFC33-223 or NFC33-226 of 50 mm2 aluminium fitted with
separable connectors in compliance with the NF C33-051 standard of type 250 A. The
connection is to be fixed with the fixtures provided for this purpose and placed on the wall.

6. ADDITION INFORMATION
6.1. RE-SUPPLY OF THE LV or MV
Re-supply is done by means of adapted cables passing through the access hatch provided.
The access hatches are captive through use of chain with links.
Use is made of this hatch as follows:
1. Inside the substation, slightly unscrew the two nuts retaining the vertical plate.
2. Unscrew the central nut WITHOUT taking it out.
3. Release the outer plate by passing the retaining nut through the slot provided for this
purpose.
4. Place the external plate on the ground - a retaining chain is fixed on this plate and keeps
it captive.
5. Slide the internal plate upwards, in order to pass through the recharge cables which will
be placed in a layer in the hole.
6. Lower the internal hatch down to the stop on the recharge cables.
7. Retighten the two screws in order to fasten the plate on the cables.
To bring out the recharge cables, do the operations in the reverse order.
6.2. TAKE-DOWN OF THE SUBSTATION AT END OF LIFE
All the materials forming the substation enclosure are recyclable.
The take-down of the substation at end of life must be done as follows:
1. Apply all the regulatory provisions in force to proceed withdraw the structure from service.
2. Clear the perimeter of the substation to access the anchorage systems to do the lifting.
Leave at least 300 mm clearance to place the DEHA anchors.
3. Place the slings as indicated in this document.
4. Lift the substation and load it onto the truck.
The substation is made of fibre-reinforced concrete. It can be crushed to be used as road
sub-base. The metal features (steel) can be recycled by the competent bodies.
