1. Before you begin, please read the following guide lines.
2. Open the Two Boxes
A. Unpack the two boxes carefully.
B. Take out all accessories and check everything is included.
3. Setting up the Antenna.
A. If you have not installed an Outback T before, it is suggested you setup the system before doing
the final install.
B. Connect the ODU RF1(Out Door Unit) to the IDU RF1 (Indoor Unit) with 8m RG6 Antenna Cable.
C. Connect the Power Cable Red and Black wires, Red + Positive, Bla k - Negative, to 12/24vDC
D. Power up the antenna and then press DEPLOY.
E. When the bracket is open at a slight angle backwards press PAUSE.
F. Install the Dish using the Allen Key supplied. Making sure the longer bolts and spacers are used
on the top two connections.
G. Press RUN and the antenna will now search and lock on. The northern sky needs to be clear.
Please make sure the base is either screwed down or supported to stop it tilting over.

1. Installation
Once you are confident of the wiring and how the antenna works, it is now time to install
2. Lo ation
Carefully pick an area of the R roof that is strong and will allow the Antenna to be mounted
as flat and as level as possible. A plate may be needed to be used to strength the area.
Please note the Direction of Travel, the antenna when stowed must face backwards.

3. Clearan e of Antenna
The area will need to be large enough to allow full 360 degree rotation
and elevation range, when the antenna is Deployed in the upright po-
sition. Clear of all Hatches, Air Conditioners, etc
4. Mounting the Antenna (ODU)
A. Drill the cable access holes and mounting holes to prepare the
site for Installation.
B. Please ensure all screw holes and fixings are sealed with a good
quality sealant to prevent water leaks etc.

1. Power Conne tions
A. Please connect to either a 12v or 24 DC power source. The IDU will automatically
switch between these two voltages.
B. A 5amp Fuse or Circuit Breaker is required on both the Red and Yellow Positive
Cables.
C. Red Cable - Connect this cable to the + Positive Side of the Battery
D. Bla k Cable - Connect this cable to the - Negative Side of the Battery
E. Yellow Cable - The Yellow cable is a safety feature, when connected to the Ignition
Positive, the antenna will automatically STOW when vehicle is started.
Connect this cable to the + Positive Side of the Ignition or Accessories. DO NOT con-
nect to a permanent power source. When the yellow cable has power, the Antenna
will automatically STOW, and will not DEPLOY.
If the Yellow Cable is not connected the Antenna will operate normally, but will not
automatically STOW when the vehicle is started.
2. Mounting the IDU (Antenna Control Box)
A. A dry secure location is required for the IDU. The IDU requires to be accessed to con-
trol the antenna. ie Deploy and Stow
B. Please make sure there is enough room for the RG6 Antenna Cables to enter the rear
of the IDU
C. Drill the mounting holes and prepare the location for installation.

1. Cable Conne tions
The R 85A Antenna comes standard with 1 x 8m RG6 and 1
x 1m RG6 Antenna Cables, suitable for a AST FTA Receiver.
An Optional IQ Kit, 2 x 8m RG6 Cables, is available for Pay
T Satellite Receivers.
All Cables are required to be fitted with Compression F-Style
Connectors, crimped or screw on connectors are not suitable. IQ Style

1. Operation
A. Turn on System
Turn On Power The antenna system will retract to shut down position and
enter into Sleep Mode. The power consumption is very low.
B. Deploy System
Press DEPLOY will deploy system. Then antenna will lock onto target sat-
ellite automatically
C. Stow System
If you use ignition stow function (Yellow Wire connection), the system will
automatically shut down and stow the dish on vehicle startup.
OR press STOW. Antenna system will retract to shut down stowed position
Before driving, please confirm the dish is completely retracted to
the shut down stowed position.
D. One Button to hange Target Satellite
Press the Fun tion key, to change the target satellite. Standard settings are
OPTUS C1/D3, OPTUS D2, INTELLSAT 19
Wait for 3 seconds, the target satellite will be selected automatically and
tracked by the antenna.
Antenna will return automatically to Normal Mode when tracking.
E. Turn Off System
Press Power can turn off the system
