Turn On/Off switch to Off position, confirm power indicator light is Off, unplug wheel from the electrical
outlet. Call Laguna Customer Service/Tech for further instruction at (626) 330-0631.
Attempting inspections, adjustments or repairs on your own may result in injury, electrical shock and /or
effect the status of your warranty. See Warranty for further details.
For your safety adhere to these following points:
•Never touch switches and plugs with wet hands, it may result in electrical shock
•Turn On/Off switch to Off position, ensure power indicator light is Off, unplug wheel from
electrical outlet prior to any inspection, cleaning, or for wheels not in use for any extended
period.
•Unplug the wheel from the electrical outlet before taking the cover off the controller box
•Do not use an extension cord. In North America, the wheel should be plugged direct into 115v
single phase AC electrical wall outlet (all other countries see voltage standards of 220v).
•Do not allow the cords to be covered by carpets, runners etc.
Maintenance and Additional Precautions:
•Exceeding the weight limit recommendations on your wheel head will cause damage and void
your warranty. Weight capacity for GT 400 = 80 pounds while the larger motor on the GT 800 =
150 pounds.
•Ensure the pedal is fully depressed in the OFF position before turning the wheel ON or OFF.
•Never leave a running wheel unattended.
•Ensure the wheel is in Off position when not in use.
•Forcing a wheel to stop while in motion can cause injury to person and damage the shaft and/
or the motor.
•Children should always be supervised by an adult when using the Pacifica wheel. Keep tools
and small parts out of reach.
•Never hose down your wheel or let it stand in water. To clean your wheel, use a damp sponge
or cloth and hand clean. Although Pacifica Wheels have a durable paint and modeled plastic
top, regular cleaning as prescribed will avoid excessive oxidation and corrosion. Always turn
wheel off when cleaning. Splash pan should be cleaned out regularly. Standing water in the
splash pan can drain into bearing housing and deteriorate the substrate where the wheel head
is attached.
•Do not use the Pacifica wheel outdoors.
•It is advisable to remove rings, watches etc. prior to using the wheel. Long hair, hanging jewelry
and loose clothing can get caught in the wheel and cause injury to person and damage the
wheel.
•Do not sit or stand on the wheel head, never pick your wheel up by the wheel head.
•Do not operate wheel with belt guard cover removed.
•Allow your motor to come to a complete stop prior to changing the direction of the wheel
•Keep floor around your wheel free from water, wet clay, and debris.
•Place foot pedal on wheel tabletop when not in use or when maintaining your studio floor.

SEVEN EASY STEPS TO REPAIRS
1. Review trouble shooting section of the manual.
2. Contact your Pacifica distributor with the equipment serial number, the date and location of
purchase, and a detailed description of the problem. Without this information warranty work

process. In the event the repair cannot be made in this manner, you will be directed to send
questionable parts to the Laguna California Facility.

shipping charge if needed. It is recommended that you insure your package against loss or
damage.
6. If the defective part(s) is/are still under warranty, they will be repaired or replaced as deemed
appropriate by the manufacturer. If they are not under warranty, please indicate your choice
regarding repair or replacement. If no such choice indicated, the determination will be made by
Laguna Clay Co.
7. Warranty repair work will be performed at no charge. Shipping costs, however, will be paid by

Getting down to business: Setting up and using your Pacifica Wheel:
•Choose a comfortable location for use of the wheel allowing you to plug the wheel directly into
the electrical outlet.
•Ensure the wheel is located on level ground.
•Always turn your wheel OFF when not in use.
•Depress foot pedal in the full OFF/ STOP position prior to turning the wheel ON or OFF.
•Position yourself in front of the wheel with wheel head towards you.
•Use the Forward/ Reverse switch to select the direction you want the wheel to rotate.
•Depress the foot pedal up and down several times to familiarize yourself with the variable
speed and stopping.
•You are now ready to throw on your new Pacifica Potter’s Wheel.
Troubleshooting Guide:
Wheel will not turn on. No power to the wheel:
•Is your wheel plugged into the power source? Make sure wheel plug to outlet and cord to
control box are plugged in tight.
•Is your power outlet providing the correct amount of electrical current?
•Are you using the same circuit for other wheels, equipment or appliances?
•Check the indicator light to ensure it lights up when the ON/ OFF button is depressed.
•If the ON/ OFF light is on and the wheel will not turn, check the breaker and push to re-set.
•Plug your wheel into a different outlet and/or check to re-set GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter) on
the wall outlet.
•Check your home breaker box to ensure breaker has not been tripped.
Light comes on but wheel head will not turn:
•Make sure the direction switch is set to either forward or reverse position
•If you hear the motor running and the wheel head is not turning, the belt may have come off
the pulley. Refer to Tensioning Belt instructions below or visit Laguna Clay Company’s You Tube
Chanel for step by step video instructions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iw5cpbXNc24
7
Tensioning the V belt:
Your Pacifica Wheel was shipped with proper tension however, over time, with use, it may lose some of
that tension and will need to be adjusted. To adjust the tension on the belt, follow the guide below or
visit Laguna Clay Company’s You Tube Chanel for step by step video instructions.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iw5cpbXNc24
•Turn off and unplug your wheel before beginning.
•Turn wheel up onto its back 2 legs (as shown in Figure 1). NEVER PLACE WHEEL UPSIDE DOWN
ON THE WHEEL HEAD.
•Remove the bottom cover (as shown in Figures 2 &3).
•There should be one half to one inch of deflection when the belt is firmly pushed (as shown
figure 4).
Note: A properly tensioned belt should deflect ½ to 1 inch. Less than ½ inch could stress and
break the motor shaft; more than 1 inch may result in the belt slipping and squeaking.
CAUTION: OVER TENSIONING THE BELT MAY CAUSE THE MOTOR SHAFT TO BREAK. DO NOT
OVER TENSION.
•To increase tension on the belt, loosen the nuts of the lag bolts under the motor mount (as
shown in figures 5 & 6) then, tighten the bolts on the top of the motor mount.
Figure 5 Figure 6
Figure 1 Figure 2 Figure 3 Figure 4
8
Adjusting tension on the foot pedal:
You will need a 9/64 size hex head Allen wrench
•Turn Off and unplug your wheel before beginning. ( Figure 1)
•Turn pedal upside down, locate the 2 pedal adjustment screws as shown. (Figure 2)
•To tighten the tension, turn both screws clockwise in small increments until you have the
tension you desire. (Figure 3)
•To loosen, turn both screws counterclockwise in small increments until you have the tension
you desire. (Figure 4)
Figure 1 Figure 2
Figure 3 Figure 4

Detaching and removing the control box unit:
CAUTION DO NOT OPEN THE CONTROL BOX COVER; THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY!!
At some point you may find it necessary to remove the control box or pedal for repair or replacement.
For ease of removal, Laguna has mounted the control box on a bracket independent from the wheel
frame. To remove the control box, follow the steps outlined below:
•Turn OFF and unplug your wheel before beginning.
•Unplug the cord to the motor.
•Using a 7/16 size wrench, remove the bolt at the top of the control box and remove the whole
box. DO NOT OPEN THE CONTROL BOX. The control box with the foot pedal can now be sent in
for inspection and/or repair independent from the Pacifica wheel itself.
