You can expand the system by adding up to 5 accessory cordless handsets, sold
separately. A maximum of 6 cordless handsets can be registered to a base unit.

Important safety
instructions
When using this unit, basic safety
precautions should always be followed to
reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or
personal injury.
1. Read all instructions carefully.
2. Follow all warnings and instructions
marked on the product.
3. Unplug the product from power outlets
before cleaning. Do not use liquid or
aerosol cleaners. Use a moist cloth for
cleaning.
4. Do not use the product near water, for
example near a bathtub, wash bowl,
kitchen sink, etc.
5. Place the product securely on a stable
surface. Serious damage and/or injury
may result if the product falls.
6. Do not cover slots and openings on the
product. They are provided for
ventilation and protection against
overheating. Never place the product
near radiators, or in a place where
proper ventilation is not provided.
7. Use only the power source marked on
the product. If you are not sure of the
type of power supplied to your home,
consult your dealer or local power
company.
8. Do not place objects on the power
cord. Install the product where no one
can step or trip on the cord.
9. Do not overload power outlets and
extension cords. This can result in the
risk of fire or electric shock.
10. Never push any objects through slots
in the product. This may result in the
risk of fire or electric shock. Never spill
any liquid on the product.
11. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do
not disassemble the product. Take the
product to an authorized service center
when service is required. Opening or
removing covers may expose you to
dangerous voltages or other risks.
Incorrect reassembly can cause
electric shock when the product is
subsequently used.
12. Unplug the product from power outlets

Installation
LNever install telephone wiring during a
lightning storm.
LNever install telephone jacks in wet
locations unless the jack is specifically
designed for wet locations.
LNever touch uninsulated telephone
wires or terminals unless the telephone
line has been disconnected at the
network interface.
LUse caution when installing or modifying
telephone lines.
LDo not touch the plug with wet hands.
LThe AC adaptor is used as the main
disconnect device. Ensure that the AC
outlet is installed near the product and is
easily accessible.
Battery
To reduce the risk of fire or injury to
persons, read and follow these
instructions.
LUse only the battery(ies) specified.
LDo not dispose of the battery(ies) in a
fire. They may explode. Check with local
waste management codes for special
disposal instructions.
LDo not open or mutilate the battery(ies).
Released electrolyte is corrosive and
may cause burns or injury to the eyes or
skin. The electrolyte may be toxic if
swallowed.
LExercise care when handling the
battery(ies). Do not allow conductive
materials such as rings, bracelets or
keys to touch the battery(ies), otherwise
a short circuit may cause the battery(ies)
and/or the conductive material to
overheat and cause burns.
LCharge the battery(ies) provided, or

accordance with the instructions and

using equipment that could be sensitive

For best performance
Base unit location/avoiding noise
The base unit and other compatible
Panasonic units use radio waves to
communicate with each other.
For maximum distance and noise-free
operation, we recommend the following:
LPlacing the product away from electrical
appliances.
LPlacing the base unit in a HIGH and
CENTRAL location with no obstructions
such as walls.
LRaising the antenna vertically.
LIf you use the cordless handset near a
microwave oven which is being used,
noise may be heard. Move away from
the microwave oven and closer to the
base unit.
LIf you use the cordless handset near
another cordless phone’s base unit,
noise may be heard. Move away from
the other cordless phone’s base unit and
closer to your base unit.
Environment
LKeep the product away from electrical
noise generating devices, such as
fluorescent lamps and motors.
LThe product should be kept free from
excessive smoke, dust, high
temperature and vibration.
LThe product should not be exposed to
direct sunlight.
LDo not place heavy objects on top of the
product.
LWhen you leave the product unused for
a long period of time, unplug the product
from the power outlet.
LThe product should be kept away from
heat sources such as heaters, kitchen
stoves, etc. It should not be placed in
rooms where the temperature is less
than 5 °C or greater than 35 °C. Damp
basements should also be avoided.
LThe maximum calling distance may be
shortened when the product is used in
the following places: Near obstacles
such as hills, tunnels, underground, near
metal objects such as wire fences, etc.
LOperating near 2.4 GHz electrical
appliances may cause interference.
Move away from the electrical
appliances.
Routine care
LWipe the outer surface of the product
with a soft moist cloth. Do not use
benzine, thinner, or any abrasive
powder.

If you subscribe to an xDSL service
LPlease attach a noise filter (contact your
xDSL provider) to the telephone line
between the base unit and the telephone
line jack in the event of the following:
– Noise is heard during conversations.
– Caller ID features (page 34) do not
function properly.

slide it as indicated by the arrow.
LIf necessary, remove the old battery.

Battery charge
Place the cordless handset on the charger
for 6 hours before initial use. Make sure
the base unit AC adaptor cord is
connected while charging the battery.
While charging, “充电中” is displayed.
When the battery is fully charged,
“充电完成” is displayed.
Note:
LTo ensure the battery charges properly,
clean the charge contacts of the
cordless handset and charger with a
soft, dry cloth once a month. Clean more
often if the unit is subject to grease, dust,
or high humidity.
LWhile charging the battery, make sure
the cordless handset and charger are
within range of the base unit (where
“服务区外” is not displayed on the
cordless handset display).
LWhen the date and time are not set,
“请设定时间” is displayed.
Battery strength
You can confirm the battery strength on the
cordless handset display.
Recharging the battery
Recharge the battery immediately when:
–“请充电” is displayed or 4displays on
the cordless handset display.
– the cordless handset beeps
intermittently while it is in use.
Note:
LRecharge the cordless handset battery
for more than 15 minutes, or the display
will continue showing the indication.

Battery performance
After your Panasonic battery is fully
charged, you can expect the following
performance:
*1 Cordless handset is off the charger but
not in use.
Note:
LBattery operating time may be
shortened over time depending on
usage conditions and surrounding
temperature.
LBattery power is consumed whenever
the cordless handset is off the charger,
even when the cordless handset is not in
use. The longer you leave the cordless
handset off the charger, the shorter you
can actually talk on the cordless
handset. Actual battery performance
depends on a combination of how often
the cordless handset is in use and how
often it is not in use.
LAfter the cordless handset is fully
charged, displaying “充电完成”, it can be
left on the charger without any ill effect
on the battery.
LThe battery level may not be displayed
correctly after you replace the battery. In
this case, place the cordless handset on
the charger and let charge for 6 hours.

The range status level
The status of the radio between the base
unit and the cordless handset is displayed
on the cordless handset (Out of range and
level 0 ~3).
Important:
LWhen “服务区外” is displayed, move
closer to the base unit.
LWe recommend you use the cordless
handset under the level 2 or 3.
LWhen you program features using the
cordless handset, ensure that
“服务区外” is not displayed.
LWhen the cordless handset is losing
communication with the base unit during
a conversation, the cordless handset
beeps.
Function keys ({F1}key and {F2}key)
The cordless handset features 2 function
keys. By pressing a function key, you can
select the function displayed directly
above it.
LThe functions displayed will vary
depending on how you are using the
unit.
LWhen a function does not appear above
a function key, the function key has no
function.
Note:
LIn these operating instructions, function
key names are written inside brackets,
the same way as other unit keys.
Example:

buttons will light after pressing any of the
cordless handset’s controls or placing the

also light when a call is being received.

Initial setting using the
cordless handset
Setting the dialing mode
If you cannot make calls, change this
setting depending on your telephone line
service. The default setting is “音频”.
“音频”: For tone dial service.
“脉冲”: For rotary pulse dial service.
1Press {菜单 }({F1}key).
2Press {#}{0}{7}{9}.
3Press {<}or {>}repeatedly to select
the desired setting.
4Press {保存 }({F1}key), then press
{关闭 }.
Setting the date and time
Set the date and time so that the unit will:
– display the date and time the calls were
received in the caller list (page 36).
– display the date and time while listening
to messages using a cordless handset
(page 46).
– announce the day and time each
message was recorded by the
answering system (page 43) when you
play back messages.

LYou can set the year 2000 to 2099.

LIf the cordless handset beeps 6
times, the date and time were not set
correctly. Enter the correct digits.

Note:
LIf you make a mistake when entering the
date and time, press {<}or {>}to move
the cursor, then make the correction.
LThe date and time also display on the
base unit display.
LThe date and time may be incorrect after
a power failure. Set the date and time
again.

Using the cordless handset
1Lift the cordless handset and press
{通话 }.
L“号码输入” will be displayed.
2Dial the phone number.
3When finished talking, press {关闭 }or
place the cordless handset on the
charger.
Note:
LIf you press {通话}while the cordless
handset is on the charger, the
speakerphone is activated. To switch to
the receiver, lift the cordless handset.
To adjust the receiver volume
3 levels (high/medium/low) are available.
Press {V} or {^} repeatedly while talking.
To use the speakerphone
1Lift the cordless handset and press
{s}.
L“免提通话中” will be displayed.
2Dial the phone number.
3When the other party answers, speak
into the microphone.
4When finished talking, press {关闭 }or
place the cordless handset on the
charger.
Note:
LTalk alternately with the caller in a quiet
room.
LIf the other party has difficulty hearing
you, press {V} to decrease the speaker
volume.
LWhile on a call, you can switch from the
receiver to the speakerphone by
pressing {s}. To switch back to the
receiver, press {通话}.
To adjust the speaker volume
6 levels (high to low) are available.
While using the speaker, press {V} or {^}
repeatedly.
To dial after confirming the entered
number
1Enter the phone number.
LTo correct a digit, press {清除}. Enter
the correct number.
LTo cancel, press {关闭}.
2Press {通话 }or {s}.
3When finished talking, press {关闭 }or
place the cordless handset on the
charger.
To make a call using the redial list
The last 10 phone numbers dialed are
stored in the redial list.
1Press {重拨 }({<}key).
LThe last number dialed will be
displayed.

LTo delete the displayed number,
press {清除}, then press {*}.
LYou can store the item into the
phonebook. Press {保存}({F1}key).
Follow step 3 on page 26.
LTo exit the list, press {关闭}.
3Press {通话 }or {s}.
PAUSE button (for PBX/long distance
service users)
A pause is sometimes required when
making calls using a PBX or long distance
service.
For example, if you need to dial the line
access number “9” when making outside
calls with a PBX:
1Press {9}.
2Press {暂停 }({F2}key), then dial the
phone number.
3Press {通话 }or {s}.
Note:
LA 3.5 second pause is inserted each
time {暂停}({F2}key) is pressed. Press
repeatedly to insert longer pauses.
Using the base unit
1Lift the handset.
2Dial the phone number.
3When finished talking, place the
handset on the cradle.
To adjust the receiver volume
3 levels (high/medium/low) are available.
Press {V} or {^} repeatedly while talking.
To use the speakerphone
1Press {免提通话 }.
2Dial the phone number.
3When the other party answers, speak
into the microphone.
4When finished talking, press
{免提通话 }.
Note:
LTalk alternately with the caller in a quiet
room.
LIf the other party has difficulty hearing
you, press {V} to decrease the speaker
volume.
LWhile on a call, you can switch from the
the speakerphone to the handset by
lifting the handset. To switch back to the
speakerphone, press {免提通话}.

To adjust the speaker volume
9 levels (off, low to high) are available.
While using the speaker, press {V} or {^}
repeatedly.
To dial after confirming the entered
number
1Enter the phone number.
LTo correct a digit, press {删除}. Enter
the correct number.
LTo cancel, press {停止}.
2Lift the handset.
OR
Press {免提通话 }.
3When finished talking,
Place the handset on the cradle.
OR
Press {免提通话 }.
Redialing the last number dialed
1Lift the handset.
